"Our 5 couple dinner club decided to give Arooji's a try, in spite of some pretty negative reviews. To be fair, there were some glowing reviews as well, so we decided to "roll the dice" and see which among this mixed bag of critiques was more accurate. When they arbitrarily changed our time of reservation, I was quite irritated and began to expect the worst. As it turned out, the food, service and ambiance were all okay; neither terrible nor excellent- good, but nothing special. In my final opinion, the poor reviews were an exaggeration, and based upon the quality and presentation of the four different selections made by our group, so were the praise reviews. Arooji's is passable but not worth making a special effort to seek them out."

"Appetizer was from frozen calamari. My Ceasar salad was definitely made earlier in the day as the dish was quite cold and likely came out of the freezer. Entree was OK, surprised actually after having my appetizer and salad being a bit of a disappointement."

"Food was ok. Wine very good. After our entree was cleared off,one person came by and asked if we wanted our check. I said we would like coffee and a dessert menu. A couple of minutes later the waiter asked if wanted the check and said we had already told someone to bring coffee and dessert. I had the feeling they wanted us to leave. We had not been there more than an hour. Very disappointed in our expirence."

"My family & I used to frequent this place when we lived in Charlotte, and after returning 5 years later, it has only gotten better. Buonissimo! Che bravo!!! Don't even think about it, just go. I promise, you won't be sorry. :) Thank you for years of excellence, Arooji's! What a treat."

"Arooji's is a fairly typical shopping center-based restaurant in the Southpark area but it is a very welcoming, genuinely Italian establishment with a friendly hostess and efficient wait-staff. The food is also of a good quality and not any garden variety Italian cuisine. And the wine list is very good without being intimidating. The proprietors have worked hard on the decorations to make the space more evocative of Italy and not just an uninteresting modern location."

"We went to Arooji's years ago and really enjoyed it then - but are not sure what happended. Tonight, the service was good. The food was a mixed bag - pasta and steak were good. There were 3 lemon seeds in my salad and I pointed that out to my server, but she did nothing about it. We went with our two children (ages 8,10) and had to wait 45 mins for food. It was an eternity with kids. The price tag was also really heavy: $80 for 3 mediocre entrees. I can cook a better meal at home for less and faster. We will not return - there are too many other good choices in Charlotte."

"The food was good but not great. (I didn't make yummy sounds.). The hostess ended up being our waitress, which was odd. She did a nice job, though. We just didn't feel like we were her main priority. I wouldn't rush back there and I would recommend other restaurants before this one."

"It was a little alarming as when we arrived the restaurant was empty however it started to fill up after we arrived. The room wass quite attractive however the staff was constantly moving large plants around throughout the evening, very unusual.
My wife was very happy with her house red, appetizer and chicken dish. I ordered a salad and calamari. The salad was fair and the calamari was unedible, honestly it was the worst I have ever had. I would skip this restaurant."

"We arrived on-time for our 7:15pm reservation and we were seated right away. The waitress was friendly and took our drink order. She returned later with the drinks and explained the special of the day, which I ordered.
She then returned in about 3 min and said that the pasta used for the special was sold out!
Just poor planning on the kitchen to run out of something so early on a 'Saturday' night.
