"Went for downtown dining week. Odd pairing with fish entree. Service was initially slow but than picked up to normal. Probably wouldn't return, food wasn't anything special."

"The soup was just barely warm. The "chicken salad" sandwich was dry and tasteless. The flank steak was tough. The rest of the flank steak salad was good."

"Restaurant was packed for Downtown Dining week. We were seated at a table near the bar where the chairs were just bar stools with no backs, very uncomfortable. Saw a few nicer empty tables with regular chairs that I felt we should have been seated at since I made a reservation using open table. Food was good, we ordered from the special downtown dining menu, which should have had more variety, i.e, two of the choices had beets and if you are not beet fan, well . . ."

"We went for a business dinner. Both had a salad, which were fine, though the highlights were the entrees. We had a pork tenderloin and the walleye. Both of us said that they were among the best that we'd had of these dishes. The sides were also generous and prepared nicely. We split the cheesecake for dessert, which was very good. So, overall, the food was worth the reservation. The service was a little spotty, though everyone was pleasant and described the dishes well."

"It was our first experience, and we were looking for a nice place for dinner, before seeing a show at the Rep. This was a short walk, and recommended by a friend. We were seated on time, the food was remarkable, and they had a drink special that was attractive. A great dining experience, and we'll definitely go back again."

"We went for a late Mother's Day meal on Monday evening. Bit was not very busy so we got great service. The meal was wonderful and everyone had something different. Not a bad meal was had by anyone. We shared a number of desserts and they were great also."

"We returned to Metro after visiting last year and having a good experience. This year, the food was very disappointing, especially for the high price we paid. The martini tasted watered down, and my fish entree was horribly overcooked and over salted. There must have been a change of chefs here, and the change is not for the better. Also the bar, which is adjacent to the restaurant, might be a cool place for business professionals to meet, but it creates an unpleasant noise factor in the restaurant. Admittedly, we are from Chicago, and perhaps have higher expectations than locals."

"We were a party of four. Service was very good. The only thing that was disappointing was they added the gratuity in and did not tell us. Of course, we caught it. I have never been to a restaurant or hotel restaurant that added gratuity for a party of four."

"Hotel Metro's buffet was a great selection for Easter brunch. It suited all of the dining wishes of our party with ages ranging from 20's to 90"s. The food was well presented, fresh, warm, always available and delicious! Our favorites were the dessert selections, omelettes, lamb, short ribs and salads. It was a relaxing, wonderful experience."

"The food at the Metro was not even as good as a Perkins. The chicken sandwich was on plain white toast (not even a special bread or roll). The service was slow. We had eight people and we were not served our food at the same time. Not because she couldn't carry it all at once because there was an almost five minute wait inbetween. By the time we were all served the first group's was cold. The only thing good was the gentleman that seated us was on the ball - he never stood still - always refreshing water, checking on tables. We all had a pickle that had to be spoiled. I love all kinds of pickles, spicy, sweet - you name it and these were take a bite and spit out pickles. The homemade chips were tough - didn't taste fresh at all."

"For the price, there are way better options in the neighborhood. The food was tasty but the nut encrusted fish I ordered was really heavy. When I asked the server before hand regarding its preparation, she told me she doesn't eat fish so she wasn't sure. The restaurant needs to be updated. I felt like the restaurant area was a little better than a chain restaurant, like Applebee's."

"We were there on Friday, February 15 to celebrate my daughters' birthdays. It was disappointing but unfortunately they were still offering only the valentine's menu, which had a limited offering. The food was good and the service was very good but we wished we could have ordered off of the regular menu. We have been there before and will go back again, but I guess we will just steer clear of special occasions/holidays."
