"We had reservations for Friday at 7:30 pm. The restaurant was not packed - I saw several open tables - but the decibel level in the room was HIGH, and it was just from other diners. Seems everyone was in a Friday night mood, and a couple of tables had some loud talking/laughing. My party of 4 had to pretty much shout at each other throughout the entire meal - very unpleasant. There seem to be some noise abatement structures on the ceiling, but they were inadequate. The garage door was up, and I wonder if that contributed to the high noise level. If I return to this restaurant, it will be at an off-peak time of day. I enjoyed the food, and the service was superior, but the noise had a negative impact on the quality of the meal."

"Unfortunately we were unable to get a table at 9:00 and left at 9:30 without eating. I wouldn't recommend le garage for a party of 6 as it appears they cannot accommodate a party that size."

"Le Garage never ceases to amaze me. The setting is idyllic, right next to the nicest marina in sausalito. The ambience is energetic, but romantic at the same time. The food is the best french cuisine in the SF Bay Area. I would recommend any of the dishes, but personal favorites are the duck and roast chicken."

"We brought our friend's here for the first time. Pretty much every thing we shared was a hit. Mussels prepared both with chorizo and marinieres were fresh and big. Both preparations did not disappoint. Crispy sweetbreads nothing left on the plate enough said. Duck confit flavorful rich, roasted monkfish moist and cooked to perfection. Fries never disappoint and the french bread is one of the best in the Bay Area. Dessert the passion fruit creme brulee was tart and sweet made us feel like we were on vacation the fondant au chocolate was decadent as well. Wines very good ,service was overall good even a French waiter. It's a casual fun place. Our friends who are serious foodies loved this restaurant!"

Had the pork chop with fennel, succulent, perfectly cooked – you could taste all the individual flavors

"Have had 30 to 40 meals here over the years. This was disappointingly bad. The soups are usually the best flavors on the menu. Salty lobster and truffle oil was terrible. My halibut was in a broth that was so acidic it ruined the well prepared fish. One never comes for the quiet intimate setting with attentive service --- wrong place. That has been consistent. I tasted my wife's beef filet--- perfectly prepared and very tasty. I do not give up to easy. Will try again. Hope the staff is not spread too thin by opening a third restaurant. I miss Natalie and Jacqueline and their warmth and charm."

"The service was very pleasant but SLOW and poorly timed. After waiting 40 minutes for our first course (which the waiter explained was so late because we had taken so long to order! as we lingered over a glass of wine and talked), our second course arrived almost immediately after the first, before we had finished the first. The main course arrived shortly after we had finished the 2nd course, which was just fine."

"My wife and I went to Le Garage for our anniversary and while it was crowded and the noise level was "energetic", the energy came across as lively and the feeling was of being the place to be. The service was prompt and attentive though not overbearing. We both enjoyed our food and wine immensely , the prices were moderate, I considered them low for the quality of food and service that we received. Despite the fact that this was a Saturday evening we never felt rushed, we liked the fact that we were allowed to linger over a last glass of wine. We will certainly return."

"Le Garage is a nice change from most of the typical seafood restaurants in Sausalito. The ambiance and menu are fun and different. It was a little hard to find something on the menu without mushrooms or seafood (I don't eat either) but the kitchen accommodated me. They were very busy, but with our reservation they seated us right away and accommodated our request for a view. This restaurant seems very popular with the locals--it is a little tricky to find but well worth it. Our only complaint is that it is so loud we could barely hear the waiter or each other."

Literally felt like I was in a garage, was cold, had to wear my coat all evening. They turned on the heaters, but they really didn't make much of a difference. So I would specifically ask to be seated in the main dining room if I ever return. Especially on a cool night."

"Our meal for four was outstanding. The food was great. However, I would not return to this restuarant because it was impossible to hear our friends at the table due to the noise level in the restaurant. Our waiter had to shout at us to provide the day's specials (I couldn't make out what he said). I left the restaurant with a sore throat from having to yell to make myself heard. Eating out should be an enjoyable experience, a combination of good food, good service and a positive ambience, not a vocal workout. Provide some soundproofing and I'll return."

"Food tasted wonderful with some good flavor and not so adventurous that it was outside my palate. The Risotto cake was fabulous. A soup special missed a bit. Their bread was spectacular and the beef tenderloin brought back memories of Chicago steak houses-great! This is a lively marina restaurant."

"We've eaten at Le Garage many times and every time there is at least one dish that surprises us in a very very good way. This time it was the mushroom soup. We had tried ordering it on another occasion when it was supposed to be available and then wasn't. It was fantastic!! Lovely evening and of course we'll be back."

"I love love LOVE this place! The food is so well done. I highly recommend the cheese platter to start with. This place is great for NICE food without the fancy decor. The desserts are so well made and delicious. The wine was great - it was a fantastic meal. A wee bit hidden in Sausalito, small place, so hard to get reservations, but well worth the trouble! We just went to Chez Panisse cafe, and I have to say, the food was BETTER here!"

"Nestled in schoonmaker point marina, Le garage is one of the best in Marin. Great warm staff and unique garage / industrial setting. On warm evenings and sunny day there are very few places that can beat the hustle and bustle of the marina life and coming and going of yachts. While waiting for your reservation you can drink outside or promenade the many beautifull sailing boats right under your nose. There is even a Sony beach 2 minutes from the restaraunt."
