"We almost always have a great experience at Side Street Kapahulu, however, w/ this weekend being Father's Day weekend, the place was packed. As a result, I suspect the kitchen was overwhelmed. In their effort to get the food out in a timely manner, the food tasted like they cut corners......fried rice was under-seasoned, spicy garlic chicken was soggy, etc. That said, the boneless kal bi, even at $25, made up for the other dishes. I'll be back, just not on crazy holidays."

"We have been to Side Street many times, at both locations. It never disappoints. Food is terrific, friendly and casual ambiance and great servers. It is one of my favorite places to bring out of town guests, especially when there is a big group with diverse tastes. The family style service gives an opportunity to try a lot of dishes and not be obligates to get into something that does not suit you. I just wish that we could go often enough to try the things on the menu that are not out standard favorites. The boneless kal-bi is a new favorite."

"The food is always very good. We had to wait approximately 8 minutes before I had to ask if we had a server. Our server was late arriving to work so the server I flagged down was nice enough to take our order. We should not have been seated in a section with no server. I guess that's Hawaiian Time, lol!!!"

"Restaurant staff is always the friendliest. We even ran into someone coming into work in the parking lot (we didn't realize she was a worker there) and she was just filled with Aloha. Food is practically a no brainer - close your eyes and point at something on the menu and its great! We love bringing friends from the mainland because its such a great representation of local style food."

"side street inn has been on my list for a while, and finally made it out for dinner. it was great getting a cocktail - lychee martini - for just $6, and it wasn't even happy hour. food was good, the chinese chicken salad was a bit under dressed, but everything else we got was pretty good. the portions were healthy too. mochiko chicken was a favorite, along with the pork chops. fried rice was okay, but not a highlight for us. will definitely be back for cocktails - seems like a great happy hour spot."

"We love Side Street. Kalbi ribs are to die for and we love all the salads. Everything is served family-style, so, unless you want A LOT of leftovers, go with a group. Friendly, casual, and good beer. It can get loud, especially if there are big games on the the televisions, but it is worth it."

"Food wasn't as good as it used to be. We ordered the pork chop, was dry & overcooked. The fried rice was so-so. The steak was good but we ordered it Medium & it came to the table RARE. The best dish ended up being the edamame, guess you can't mess that up!
We also ordered the beer on special but the server brought a totally different beer. When we asked about it, instead of apologizing & bringing the correct beer, he instead told us the beer we ordered was free beer that the restaurant then sells as a special. In other words, we should feel lucky that he brought us the wrong order. WTH?
Maybe we just hit a bad night ... But i think I'm sticking with Uncle Bo's from now on!"

"Staff seemed very friendly but were clearly overwhelmed by the birthday party for one-year old twins they were in the throws of hosting... I said we had an Open Table reservation, but that went over whomever's head.
The portions are very large, but the preparation of food at Side Street Inn is very pedestrian. The salt factor of the poke made me totally question the actual flavor of the tuna. There's a local quality of the cuisine that perhaps I just don't appreciate."

"We are from NY and had to come back one more time before leaving. We had to have the lop cheong fried rice again but wanted to try other things. We had the pork chops which we okay. The fried calamari was different large thick pieces that were very tender and delicious. The farmers salad was fantastic, with avocado, shrimp, butter leaf lettuce, capers and fried sweet potato shavings in a scrmptuous light dressing. The ahi poke was tasty and fresh. The ahi belly was new for us- very different and good. Everything was great, service, ambiance, food- but you have to make reservation.. Wish we had a Side St in NY."

"My calabash German niece and her husband missed going to Side Street last year when they were here, so I promised them a visit this year. They are a beautiful couple with a passionate love of Hawaii, especially for its food and, of course, the sun, sand and surfing.
They loved the garlic fries, the Caesar salad, the boneless kalbi, the pork chops, the fried rice, and the ribeye with mushrooms and onions. I think Mory liked that the best. They liked the Rogue Pie, but I didn't care for it. There was something wrong with the combination of flavors for me and I definitely did not like the garlic bread. When I had it at the Ala Moana location, it was garlicky, thicker, and fluffier with a really nice crunch when you bit into it."

"This was my 2nd visit to this restaurant with a large group of people, and as I did the first time, I pre-ordered our food. Timing was perfect! As soon as we got seated, our drink order was taken and within minutes, our drinks and appetizers were delivered. And one dish came after another. EVERYTHING was delicious--escargot, chicken gizzards, boneless kalbi, pork chops, steamed kampachi, spicy garlic chicken, lilikoi ribs. And the dessert--especially the molten chocolate cake! And we had the BEST SERVER! He was right on with the drinks, food--we never had to ask for anything! And it's not like he didn't have other tables--he was BUSY! Consistency is very important and that makes me definitely want to return."

"The restaurant is noted for their pork chops, which we ordered. We can see why they are a favorite. They were juicy, tender, trimmed of excess fat, served hot, and cooked perfectly, but slightly salty. The salad with blue cheese was delicious and the garlic bread was very good, with just a subtle hint of garlic. We did not enjoy the mushrooms, as the seasonings/sauce overpowered the mushrooms and with an aftertaste that remained. We were warned before we ordered that the portions are served "family style." They are so right, as we had leftovers which we enjoyed for dinner.
The service was excellent. Our server was very cordial, knowledgeable, and attentive. This is one place we would definitely visit more than once!"

"We arrived on time for the reservation at 5:45 but were asked if we could leave by 7:00 because they had a lot of reservations.
Just wondering if they do that to all the patrons or if certain groups are targeted. I thought that was a bit rude. However, our server,
