"Have gone there for years. Located in a shopping center, but don't let that fool you. The food and service are excellent. We dined off of the Happy Hour menu (choice of 7 items for $7 each) and also ordered a couple of entrees. All the food was well prepared, tasty, and served in a timely fashion. Would highly recommend"

"The crepes are amazing, overall the food is very good -although a little pricey for the area. My only complaint was that the breakfast brunch items were only available with a side of Salad or French Fries, which when you are ordering a crepe or omelette doesn't fit well. I do go here often and the happy hour is fantastic. The chef has been there for years and I would say has kept this place one of my favorites."

"It was not crowded and was quiet, just what I wanted for my wife's birthday. I thought the food tasted fantastic and it was affordable when compared to other French restaurants in San Diego. We had a great time there, they made us feel special because I told them we were dining on my wife's birthday. Liked it so much that I am actively trying to find an excuse to go back there this week."

"It took us a long time to get served and when we asked for the dessert menu, she brought it and left us hanging. After 15 minutes we finally asked for our check since she obviously wasn't going to take our dessert order. She was too busy chatting with others in the restaurant. I won't go back."

"I came here for my birthday.I'm not much of a shrimp eater, so I ordered the linguini with salmon and substituted the shrimp for some green beans. It was delicious, the best Salmon I've ever had! The waiter was on time with refilling our bread every couple minutes because it was so good with the butter provided. All the dishes looked beautiful. I also got a candle in my creme brulee, thank you so much!"

"My husband and I have now dined at this restaurant twice, and we will continue to come back! We took our first trip to France last October, and have been searching for a little slice of Paris in San Diego...we finally feel like we have found that with La Bastide Bistro!"

"We had the duck and the lamb and both were excellent choices. The signature salad was also fantastic (the one with the goat cheese). I would highly recommend this restaurant."

"I can't say enough good things about this place. I have eaten at La Bastide many times and have yet to have a disappointing experience; the food is always prepared well and the service is always top notch. Ask to have Matthew take care of you as he goes over and beyond to ensure you have a pleasant experience."

"This is a solid neighborhood spot. Lunch is a better deal $ wise but both lunch and dinner are a decent value (lobster night is a very good value if you like lobster). Food is consistent and good/very good, with fresh ingredients and done well. Nothing cutting edge but good basic French."

"Slow service. Had to request wait staff service rather than be waited upon. Very unusual - usually they are overly attentive. At least they have ditched the fake French accents!"

"I have been to La Bastide a number of times. This particular time, we wanted something special betwwen our homes in Rancho Bernardo and the SDSU area. The location in Scripps Ranch was perfect. Our friends prefer small plates and needed an early evening, so the Happy Hour menu was perfect. The Happy Hour menu is quite sophisticated compared with most. Two of us had mussles (that were fabulous), the men each had sliders (ditto) and each of us split their special salad. We split a bottle of wine (plus the guys had a tap beer). For our purposes, it was perfect. I was, however, tempted to have either the Coq au Vin or the Boullibasse (both are wonderful.) It's a great spot for a romantic dinner or a quick bite. And quite reasonable."

"Took my Mother and girlfriend there for a birthday dinner and we all had amazing dinners! You can tell they are very proud of the quality of food they are serving. Don't forget to save room for the Warm Soft Chocolate Fondant! Looking forward to returning."

"I have been to La. Bastide several times. As usual, the food was great. Unfortunately, it was understaffed. Glad it was so busy but the noise was almost unbearable. I saw someone who was apparently overseeing the operation ;a really good manager would have put on an apron and helped out. I'm wondering if there is new ownership and/or management. The waiter told us there were many walk-ins. It might have been better to turn them away. They have gone from A+ to a B."

"Have dined at La Bastide Bistro before and will continue to do so! French cuisine with American portions and have never been disappointed! The food is always delicious and the service is extremely friendly. Venue/location may be too small and can get crowded on busy nights, especially by the bar area, but I don't mind at all. This hidden gem is great!"

"Excellent food; one of the best Restaurant Week menus in San Diego. Service was excellent as well. Stuck in bar area with no A/C causing my date to leave the restaurant twice to get air. Was very loud due to packed house for RW. Been several times before and have always loved the food and service = recommended."
