"The only reason I'd go back to Salty's on the Columbia is for the scenic view, especially on a nice, sunny, warm day when you can sit on the outdoor deck overlooking the river. The food was not very good, especially for the highly inflated prices and our waiter was incredibly slow."

"Made reservations for two in the high hopes that it makes a difference.
They put us at a terrible spot, a very small table behind the fireplace. Then
the sun was in my eyes, and no one offered to lower the shade. As much
money as one spends at that place, if I have sunglasses on indoors, I
shouldn't have to ask to have the shade lowered. It became miserable and
I had to leave early while my husband waited a very long time for the check.
I will never again make reservations for two, always for three or four, then
we might get a decent table."

"You need to work on air conditioning. It was so hot today in the restaurant, that 3 of us in our party couldn't not eat. Plus your sea food and rice dish was not your best. The fish in the dish was way to dry. Need to figure out a way to make it more moist."

"Ambiance is wonderful, staff is friendly and helpful and the view is relaxing. Service is excellent. All needs are anticipated. The Blackened Salmon Caesar Salad is delicious. The Salmon Cobb salmon is also excellent. Our expectations were exceeded, when a birthday cake appeared without bringing up the subject other than in passing conversation, as well as a second cake, just because Mothers' Day was also not far away. This made for a very special occasion for both Mother and Daughter. Thank You!"

"My friends and I were referred to Salty's by our rental car company. The Sunday brunch was fantastic. They had a wide range of menu items and lots of seafood such as shrimp, salted fish, and crab legs. We had the option for mimosa's, which were very yummy. They have a chocolate fountain for the dessert bar. I even noticed a small kid friendly buffet table. Our server was polite and made herself easily available even though they were busy. Making reservations is a smart idea, we had not wait!"

"I've been to Salty's a few times and, although the food has consistently been soso, the view is spectacular and the service -- outstanding. I was surprised at my most recent visit (went with my elderly father) to encounter a 20 minute wait, even though we had reservations and showed up on time. We were seated in the area without much of a view, and the service was severely lacking in the friendliness to which I've become accustomed. The coconut prawn appetizer was passable--nothing special. And, although the fish was well cooked (we both had halibut), the accoutrements were bland and unsatisfying. I seem to have discovered that without the view and good service, it's just not worth it. I won't be back."

". We ordered appetizers, soup and salad and main course. First the main course was barley warm and the Halibut was dried out and potatoes cold, I would have sent it back but we had already spent over 2 1/2 hours waiting to be served in a restaurant that wasn't even a third full. By the time I got served I really wasn't in the mood to eat. The table next to us had 6 people and got a ton of attention. Well we recently moved here from the east coast ( NY and Florida) and love seafood but have yet to find a good one in Oregon. This was our anniversary and wanted it to be special, even wrote it on the reservation. After spending over $150 we expected a little more, so we woun't be returning."

"Our waitress was wonderful about accommodating us, but I expected more from the restaurant charging those prices.
When we arrived (about 20 min. early), we were escorted upstairs to the bar where we ordered drinks and waited for our table. The cocktails were not good at all. I had a pomegranate cosmo and it tasted like watered down pomegranate juice. While at the bar, we were next to a patio on the side of the building with two open tables. 20 minutes later, we were escorted to sit at one of them (it had been free since we arrived) and discovered at least five LARGE spiders had claimed the area as their own!!!! Yuck! In the main dining room, the music was loud, the wine list was inaccurate and the food was a 3 on a scale of 1-5."

"Althought the food was good when it finally arrived, it took forever to arrive. From the time we sat to when the food arrived was just over an hour. They forgot the salad that one of us ordered as an appetizer. We still had to wait 20 minutes to be seated even though we had made reservations. "We were there on a Wednesday evening at 7:00 pm and even though my husband and I sat side-by-side we could barely hear each other talk. I started with the Oregon Harvest salad which promised seasonal berries and even though I didn't expect much variety for May 1st, I did expect more than one sliced strawberry arranged around the outside of my plate. For a main course, I chose the Cioppino, The seafood they included was as promised but the tomato broth was very bland and could have come from a Campbell's soup can. The worst disappointment was the Pan-Seared Scallops that my husband ordered. For $28, he expected a little more than three small scallops. Bottom line, there are too many good places in Portland to bother with Salty's."

"We arrive with empty stomach and order appetizer right after be seated. Food choice are plentiful and taste good. The appetizers came quickly as we request with very good quality or seafood. We then order a salmon fish and Seafood Paella, and both taste good. However the resorto came with the salmon is too rich for our taste. First few bite are great but too much after. The Paella is near perfect and reasonable size for one person. Overall this restaurant is great for seafood lovers. Definitely recommend it and will go back again."

"We had an amazing dining experience for my birthday. Our server was wonderful, friendly, accommodating, and even at the end of dinner when we were already about to get in our van, she came all the way out in the parking lot to hand me my earrings that I left on the table. The food was spectacular, we had the 2 lb. Maine lobster, Ocean Trio and Clam Chowder soup. The view on the water was beautiful, and I even got a delicious white chocolate piece of cake for dessert for my birthday. We will definitely return, hopefully soon!"

"I have been to Salty's before on Sunday's for brunch. That was a pretty good experience but I will not be returning for a non brunch meal. The staff was wonderful but the food was over priced for what we were served. I understand higher prices for a view/location of a restaurant but this was not acceptable. Out of a group of six, two people at our table barely touched their meals because the food was so greasy (and one of those meals was not fried in any way). In Portland, I can get a far superior meal for half the price. There is no way that a partial view of the Columbia river can off set the $15 I paid for a BLT and cup of soup. Period. Very disappointing."

"Our dinner server quick, attentive and very friendly. The view was great for a cloudy night. Noise level was extremely high on the second floor...Salty's is ideal for large groups and business / post-golf dinners. The food was good, well prepared and presented, but not, in my opinion, as good the prices would suggest. We might be back for happy hour on the deck this summer."

"We went out for dinner on a Sunday night. There was a private party upstairs. The service suffered terribly from the staff servicing the private party. The server was SLOW. I had to keep asking for bread, ground pepper, utensils...Food was mediocre. I am really sad because I liked this place for ambiance. Not coming back!! Too many other choices to spend dinner dollars"

"On the plus side the view was amazing!
Two BIG issues for us:
Piano was so loud we couldn't talk at all which was not good for our anniversary dinner. People next to us were shouting. When we were seated the music hadn't started but after our drinks they setup. I think we should of at least been given an option if we wanted to sit near the music, since this was our first visit we didn't know there would be this issue. Really put a damper on our evening.
Waiter was never around and took forever to take out order or refill drinks. He handed us a desert menu but after waiting for over 10 minutes for him to come back we changed our mind and just left. We ended hunting him down just to pay our check since we were tired of waiting"
