Many native Italians attempt to bring authentic Italian cuisine to the states, but only few succeed. Alex Palumbo, founder, owner, Executive chef, Manager and at times Waiter, is one of those few. Hailing from the mountainous region of Piemonte, Alex serves a menu focused on Northern Italian cuisine featuring grass fed meats, homemade pastas, and fresh hand picked fish from the market like whole oven roasted branzino.
In it's rustic atmosphere Alex keeps the Osteria intimate, friendly and fun but takes your dining experience seriously providing white table clothes and seasoned waiters.
Hang at the bar after work for a pasta and a glass of wine for under $25. Or, indulge in the full menu. Either way Alex aims to keep it real by providing a low key, fun-loving (like him) but serious (also like him) place to have exceptional food.
Enjoy many nightly specials including the occasional black truffle treat!
"We've been going there for quite some time now and the food is always dependably delicious, service is fantastic, and consistently phenominal which is not always the case with the restaurants in the area. We've been there for all different kinds of meals, both special occassions and for regular weekend as well as week night dinners and brunches and they never fail us. The wait staff is so friendly - can't recommend this place enough. The best part is its never too crowded and roomy when we go - even on a busy special occassion/holiday night, it's not over packed like some of the other restaurants that it is still quite enjoyable dining experience. Love this place."

"My family of 7 adults 2 kids & 1 infant celebrated my moms birthday at osteria il Palio Saturday night. The food was delicious &!the service excellent. They served the kids right away & there were enough choices for my gluten free sister which can be hard to find in an Italian resturant. Love the burata super creamy but not too heavy & the homemade pasta with fresh truffle shaved at the table. I highly recommend this resturant for big & small groups. The only thing u should be aware is its on the noisy side so don't expect quiet I intimate."

"Our waiter was rude to my Mother. When she asked if she could add shrimp to the Florentine omelet he replied in a condescending tone, "madame, we do not alter our dishes. These are traditional Italian dishes." That's fine if the Chef doesn't want to alter, but the way he said it was yucky. Then he came back said, "I think I misunderstood, I can change the bla bla for you...didn't make sense as to why he could change one egg dish and not the other. Seemed like a poor attempt at service recovery. He screwed up her order anyway...food was mediocre and all we had were omelets, nothing complicated."

"Outstanding in every way. Truly authentic Italian cuisine, ambiance, and service. Dining at Osteria Il Paiolo is like taking a little jaunt to Italy. An absolute delight!"

"Very authentic Italian, from the food to the service. Meal was paced well, we weren't hurried at all. The pastas are all very good, as are the vegetable sides (love the brussel sprouts) and the branzino."

"Outstanding Piemontese special dinner, although a little more food then we could handle. We'll be looking forward to more special regional tasting dinners at Il Paiolo."

"I had drinks here about 2 months ago and the whole experience was great and the bread stick and drinks were top notch. So we went back to have dinner. They were light staffed and the food was mediocre at best. We were so disappointed."

"After reading the reviews I had high hopes for this place, FAIL. The service was great and when an Italian restaurant has Italian servers I think there is a good chance this extends to the kitchen, clearly not so here. The cured meats were delish, all they had to do was slice it. I ordered the Cornish game hen with broccoli rabe, at 7:30 pm they had run out of the veg (only 3 other tables were there!). When I asked for sautéed spinach I asked that it be sautéed in garlic and butter, it arrived sans garlic. The dish fell completely flat, although the meat was grilled perfectly what a shame that it lacked ANY flavor, had it been cooked with some herbs or zest or something it would have been a hit. Blah what a shame!"
