"I had been to Cafe Bizou on numerous occasions over a period of 15 years. This last visit convinced me I should not go back for a while. Very mediocre food and service."

"Cafe Bizou always does a superior job, even on Mother's Day. Extremely busy-- but our reservation was taken within 10 minutes of the appointed time. I recommend it highly for a romantic dinner, or dinner with friends."

"Took our Mom there for Mother's Day (she loves the monkfish entree). Was dissappointed with the Lobster & Lobster special (lobster cold, risotto hot!), but immediately corrected by our waiter. A little "frantic"on the service (probably because of the Mother's Day crowds) but otherwise consistent (if not spectacular) entrees and service. And you can't beat the $2.00 corkage for wine!"

"Met with a couple of friends for dinner on a Thursday evening. I made a reservation through Open Table, although it was not busy enough there that evening to really warrant one. I ordered the lobster, scallop, and seafood pasta which was absolutely delicious! It was a satisfying portion without being overwhelmingly large like some of the other restaurants would provide. The tomato sauce had a nice touch of cream without making the meal too heavy. The bread pudding was delicious as well and the caramel sauce was just sweet enough as to not overwhelm the flavor of the dessert. Service in general wasn't as spectacular as I've experienced at other places but it wasn't bad. Overall, it was pleasant, food was fantastic, and I would return again."

"We had a birthday dinner at Cafe Bizou recently, and it couldn't have been better. The ambience, service, and food were all absolutely perfect. My New York steak was delicious, and everyone in my party remarked that their fish or chicken dishes were very good, as well. We chose to bring our own wine, since the corkage fee is an extremely reasonable $2.00 per bottle. We also brought a birthday cake which was sliced and served for only $1.00 per plate. Genuine bargains, if you shop around. The servers were courteous and attentive but not pushy, and the prices were excellent. I highly recommend Cafe Bizou and look forward to going there again."

"Three of us had dinner here and loved it. You can BYO ($2 corkage fee only), which is great for us 20-somethings. Food was amazing, they have a great seafood selection! The variety here is nice because it gives you the chance to try something new!"

"Cafe Bizou is a place we frequent only on special occasions. This place exudes romance and sophistication. It great for anniversaries or for business dinners. The service is as good as it ever has been. You are greeted and seated promptly and the wait staff is quick with making sure you don't feel abandoned without losing the intimate ambiance.
The food on other hand has been going down hill on each visit. The fist time we saw the flavor slip we thought it was a bad night, a few months later when we came back we realized it wasn't. Finally, we went to spend a gift certificate we were given and resigned to the idea that the food was not coming back.
It's sad this place is great in every way, but the one that matters most."

"It was a Saturday night and they tried to cram in as many people as possible - including a group of 12 in a space that could accomodate 8. The waiter did his best, but the food came out slowly. Decent place on a quiet night - just not Saturdays."

"All of our proteins (we had steak, scallops and shrimp) were very overcooked and under seasoned. This is not a Cafe Bizou experience I had last time I was here; it was very mediocre and I will not go back unless I hear it has improved."

"The grilled salmon salad was much better than the chicken pomodori panini. It was dry and needed something like mustard to add some flavor. Ordinary Caesar salad. Good mixed drinks."

""Classy" is the best word I can think of to describe Cafe Bizou. The service is formal, but in a good way, and everyone was very nice. The food was all excellent and reasonably priced, and I loved the decor and the candlelight. I will definitely go again."

"Nothing to write home about. Food was fine. But, they really need to redecorate. Mismatched chairs and the carpeting is a hazard!! You can't eat ambiance, but it does make for a more pleasurable experience."

"We have eaten at Cafe Bizou many times because the dining experience is great. This last visit; not so much. Our waiter was rude and rushed us. We arrived at the appointed time fully intending to have cocktails before dinner. The waiter was in such a rush, only one person ordered a before dinner cocktail; it was delivered and before a first drink was taken, he was ready to take our order. He was not friendly, rushed us along and we found the entire experience distasteful. Everyone is entitled to a bad day and since we have always had wonderful service, will go back to Bizou for hopefully a better experience."

"We have been going to Cafe Bizou in Sherman Oaks for years. We have also tried the Santa Monica location. This was our first visit to Pasadena. As usual, the food was excellent. We brought our own wine and the low corkage fee is always appreciated. The venue is larger than Sherman Oaks but was still romantic enough to celebrate our 29th wedding anniversary with our family. Overall a positive experience."

"Used to be one of my favorite restuarants but haven't been here for 5 years. Was nice to know it has survived the recession. Was nice, overall. Monday night crowd was sparse, so the atmosphere was somewhat dull. The flank steak salad was good, but the waiter should have offered to toss it."

"I brought a family with two small children and a finicky mother (food) and dad (service). Everyone went away well pleased. The adults noticed that the prices were most reasonable for quality of food presented and the kids enjoyed everything presented to them. I loved my veal sweetbreads, which are a rarity these days at a moderately priced restaurant. My champagne cocktail was also excellent."

"We had a reservation for 7pm, the other half our party was late so they said we couldn't be seated until the full party had arrived, granted our friends were 15 minutes late but once we were all ready we waited for another 20-30 minutes to be seated in a table that had been open since we told them we were ready. Service was a bit slow, but the food was amazing. Definitely make a reservation or you will never be seated. The bar area was quite small considering every party had to wait at least 15 minutes even with a reservation. Drinks are a little pricey $11 for a makers mark and diet coke. Definitely bring your own wine, only a $2.00 corkage fee. Wait time and service can be improved but the food is great."

"This has been a family favorite for years now. My son celebrated his 40th here, with a group, an excellent occasion made so by how the staff at Cafe Bizou handled the party. This is where we like to return because we know the food is excellent as is the service. Definitively will remain our first choice when out of town friends come by and for family occasions.
Let me not forget, the hostess who greeted us with a friendly smile and words of welcome."

"Great food and ambiance. The only reason I gave it a four instead of a 3 is because our waiter forgot that I wanted to substitute one of my items for something else. Other than that, everything was excellent."

"This has been one of our favorite restaurants when visiting Pasadena. The food is reliably good and the service dependable. On our recent visit our food was again very good and reasonably priced. The service was attentive but not overly interrupting. Our only complaint was the appetizer. We ordered the combo stuffed mushrooms and ravioli. We were disappointed that we were only served two small mushrooms one of which only consisted of the stuffing, no mushroom. We also were given only one ravioli. While our meal portions were very adequate the serving size of the appetizer was very disappointing. We will be careful to ask in the future exactly what the quantities are when ordering appetizers."

"Nice selection of appetizers, escargot is outstanding. The $2.00 corkage is a real draw. We come from Los Angeles, a 15 mile drive with gasoline at $4.25, so that speaks for itself."

"We brought Champagne... waited for 10 minutes at least until waiter returned to ask if we wanted cocktails! We did not; we wanted Champagne! Finally it was opened and poured ( it should have been faster than this). Then waited long again for our orders. They did arrive in a timely fashion. The restaurant was not crowded at all. Food was fine. When coffee was ordered and served, there wasn't enough cream for everyone. We couldn't find the waiter at all. The guest of honor need cream for his coffee.... never got it!
This is a nice restaurant, serving French food in an economical fashion - fixed price menu. I appreciate that. You can bring your own champagne ( and wait ). Service was only fair... I'm sorry!"

"Went for brunch. Our group had egg dishes and salads. Mundane Caesar salad with grilled chicken. 2-egg omelet was overcooked, feta cheese minimal, asparagus pieces almost raw & hard, tiny pieces of diced ham tasted like boiled luncheon meat; side of roast potatoes tasted like barely warmed over from previous day or two. Scrambled egg whites OK with side of same sorry potatoes. No toast. Basket of cold (just from refrigerator) sliced white bread. Cappuccino just OK. Hostess and server sullen. Is this place about to close? It is in sore need of a complete makeover."
