"We were in St. Louis for the weekend and I decided to try Five Bistro even though my local friends had never been there. I really enjoyed my experience at Five Bistro. The atmosphere was quiet and it was a great way to spend a date night out. The waitress was fantastic, explained the various menu options, and provided excellent service. I never waited for refills and each course came quickly. The menu is sourced from local farms and they even grow some of their own vegetables. The Caesar salad is quite possibly the best I've ever had and the rabbit saddle was delicious. I would definitely return and recommend this place to others."

"Five Bistro is one of my favorite locally owned restaurant's around St. Louis. I would highly recommend it to anyone. Their menu changes every week. They source as much of their food as possible from local farmers. The food is fresh and the chef prepares each dish perfectly. They have a good wine selection also."

"What a wonderful evening. The food and ingredients were inventive. Much of the produce and herbs are grown on the premises and the what isn't is locally sourced.
The wait staff seemed to have a team approach. Our principal waiter James really knew his menu and explained several terms with which we were familiar. But while James revisited us several times the plate service was done by others. Always attentive but never intrusive.
Go with the prixe fix offerings!"

"Five understands how to provide a wonderful meal at a reasonable price. We enjoyed the four course prix-fixe with wine pairings. Each dish was excellent and there was more than enough to eat. I was at Five a few years ago and always wanted to go back. I'm not certain what took me so long but I will definitely be back at Five again soon."

I love to try the choice of three/four/five courses with wine pairings.
The Tues-Thurs 3 course menu is exceptional value for $25(add $12 for wine pairings)

"My husband and I each had a four course prix fixe meal. We ordered different items for each course. Every taste was wonderful, fresh and unique. The wine pairings were well suited. All (except fish) from local gardens and farms. All foods made in house. Just a delight. Thinking of all the people we want to share a meal with at Five Bistro. Our waiter was also wonderful. Very knowledgeable about all the dishes and wines. Attentive without being on top of us. All in all a perfect evening."

"We had a party of six prior to the symphony and the staff did a fabulous job of getting us out on time without feeling rushed. This is one of our favorite places in St. Louis. "The restaurant is very attractive, with soothing decor and interesting, if not original, artwork. The service was very good, while managing to be unobtrusive. We started off with an outstanding drink - a Sidecar - perfectly made and served. Things were spotty after that. We ordered the 4-course, prix fixe dinner, which the server described as having portions similar to those if we ordered a la carte, unlike the 5-course tasing menu. Portions ranged from very small to adequate. Caesar salad was very disappointing; soft shell crab outstanding; lamb had no lamb flavor, but polenta was delicious; and desserts were very good. Price much higher than the food was good."

"I loved Five Bistro because of the chef's philosophy behind the food. This is a locavore's heaven. And the staff is as knowledgeable about the food as the chef is. "Unfortunately we tried this restaurant during restaurant week on the Hill. Usually we view this as a time to try several different items on their menu for a reasonably priced $25 to see if its a place we'll regularly dine but we felt ripped off instead. Although the portions during these events are somewhat smaller than the usual, you are usually full at the end of 3 courses, however not the case here. We barely got the flavor of the dishes in such skimpy portions....2 tiny less than bite sized sweet potato bites under what had to be a half portion of trout finished literally in 5 small bites.....really?! I think it would've really been a good dish! The dessert flavor was detectable in the few bites and delicious, as was the appetizer."

"After years of rotating amongst the "best" restaurants in St Louis, my wife and I have come to agree that Five Bistro is the "best". The food is truly great and original, the service in all regards is marvelous, the ambiance is warm, friendly, almost family like, the bartender is creative, helpful, and interesting. I'm not sure about the wine list, because I always have Alysha our great server who really sets the mood and food very well, pick out wine by the glass for me, as my wife doesn't drink wine. She always does a superb job of matching wine with the food I've ordered."

"LOVE Five! We've been several times, and it's been wonderful each time. Their menu changes with the seasons and even weekly I believe, so we look forward to trying something new each visit. Nice wine menu, too. The candlelit tables with white covers make it a romantic spot in the evening, so if you're a couple and can nab a spot for two, it's great for a cozy dinner. We've taken guests, too, and the group has never been disappointed. Our server was Mike this visit, and he was perfect. Can't wait to go back."

"I have been to Five many times. Chef Devoti continues to impress me with innovative and delicious food. On this last visit I had goose breast for the first time. It was grilled to a perfect consistency and flavor, and was accompanied by portabella mushrooms and a lovely sauce. As an example of his versatility and commitment to accommodate various food preferences, he provided the option of substitutng Cornish Hen with the same accompaniment."

"When we walked into the restaurant we were greeted by name and made to feel welcome. The atmosphere was warm and inviting. We ordered the Chef's Specialty 5 course menu for the evening. Every single thing was scrumptious but our favorite was the trout dish(so yummy) and the apple tart dessert was divine! It was my birthday and my gift to my hubby for Valentines Day. We truly felt like we has celebrated like royalty. Every single detail was taken care of...Thanks for a very lovely and speical evening."
