Socca

This seasonally focused Lakeview French-Italian country eatery is named for the chickpea-flour cake popular in southeastern France. The menu shifts seasonally, but you can expect appetizers such as steamed mussels with garlic, white wine, tomato confit, lemon and herbs; crispy thin flat-bread pizzettes that have been featured on the Food Network ; homemade pasta dishes; and bistro classics such as pan-roasted hanger steak with garlic-herb butter and pommes frites. Daily dinner specials typically include a fresh pasta, fish, and Allen Brothers prime steaks. The wine list features picks from Italy and France as well as a California-heavy U.S. selection with ample by-the-glass options and a few flights. The restaurant also hosts regular wine dinners and events. Socca"s dining room is casual and lively, with a neighborhood bistro vibe. Sunset-hued walls and floor-to-ceiling windows on a corner location give the space an open, airy feel.

"Dined here on one occasion. Restaurant appeared to be newly opened and we were the first party to be seated. My fiance ordered a steak. Being the connoisseur that he is, his taste buds were most pleased with the balsamic glaze over it. I had the scallops and they melted like butter in my mouth. Dessert was delightful as well. The scenery and ambience contributed to the enjoyment of the meal and our waiter stayed on point as the restaurant swelled with patrons. I'd go here again if it were open!"
