"Our waiter appeared to be quite busy with a large table next to us. We were not asked if we would like drinks/wine and had to ask an assisting service person for help with wine when we were well into our appetizer course. She did her best to compensate for the poor start.
I had a featured lamb dish. The chop was very fatty and only warm, not hot. A bad combination with lamb and the "ragu of beans" was nothing out of the ordinary. The waiter provided me a complimentey dessert as compensation, a nice gesture.
My wife was happy (her 60th birthday that evening) so that is what counts. I was dissapointed."

"The food was amazing, what we've come to expect from the Bartolotta group. We were also impressed with the service --it was our 12th wedding anniversary, and they made it a special dinner for us. We've now tried all the Bartolotta restaurants, and I think this was one of our favorites --upscale but not pretentious, with knowledgeable friendly staff, and classic Italian cuisine. The tiramisu is incredible --save room!"

"Our daughter was in town from Madison, and we wanted a nice Sunday lunch. We have been to several of the Bartolotta restaurants in town, but this was our first visit to Ristorante Bartolotta; I can tell you it will not be our last! The service was outstanding, the presentation divine, and the food was incredibly delicious. We ordered a recommended bottle of wine and our server was spot-on with the choice, as it was an excellent compliment to our meal. Deserts were heavenly. The overall atmosphere was friendly and comfortable, cozy, just a wonderful place to have a great meal."

"This is the 3rd Bartalotta's we tried & we're done. We're a couple, each time, your staff puts us at those small tables 6" from another customer. The last 2 visits, the restaurant was virtually empty the entire time we were there yet you seated us at those tables right on top of one other customer. I despise that type of seating & resent being immediately seated next to strangers who can hear our every word. The food was average and absolutely not worth the cost of the meal. We will not be back nor recommend your restaurants."

"We were celebrating our 31st Anniversary!! When we checked in, we were greeted with "we know you are celebrating your anniversary and a table by the window will be ready shortly!" We sat at the bar sipping a beautiful glass of red wine when we were informed that the booth was available. The food was outstanding and both Josh & Marva(I hope I spelled her name correctly) were outstanding. It was so very interesting to hear that Marva was going to Italy and would be working at a winery! When she brought the dessert, she also brought each of us a glass of dessert wine to accompany our dessert. Thank you for a fun and very memorable wedding anniversary!!"

"Great neighborhood Italian. Top notch food and service. "We found the food to be average. There are a quite a few more creative kitchens in Milwaukee especially if you are going to spend $150, including tip, for a couple of salads, main courses, a carafe of wine and a desert. Our table was small and so close to other tables that we became privy to other patrons' conversations. The staff was helpful but we were too frequently interrupted by their attentiveness. We have been to Ristorante Bartolota a few times over the years. With the expanding restaurant scene in Milwaukee there are better options."

"Overall my wife and I had a generally positive experience at Ristorante Bartolotta on Wednesday evening, March 27th. The food was delicious, the service was very good, and the prices were very reasonable for the entrees that we chose.
The restaurant was much too crowded that night, however, and we thought there were far too many tables there for the size of the restaurant. The atmosphere was too noisy and we got the impression that there was not enough elbow room to enable us to have a private conversation with one another. In addition, there was no available parking within three blocks of the restaurant at the time of our 6:00PM reservation that evening.
I would give the restaurant a solid B plus grade overall."

"A little noisy, but it was a Saturday night 8:30pm reservation. Food was DELICIOUS. I had the chicken polleta for dinner. It was incredibly moist with an excellent blend of flavors. For dessert, best tiramisu I've ever had. I know the caramel pudding is hyped, but, in my opinion, the tiramisu is much better. Very romantic ambience. A great find."

"It was our first time at this Bartolotta venue (we're familiar with their others) and it was too "mainstream" with regards to classic and upscale Italian fare. The bread was at room temps with cold butter [instead of warm bread with olive oil], the primi pastas were nothing special [not quite al dente, not quite warm enough], the secondi meats were great but quantities were too large and their presentations were lacking, the desserts were also too large -- and nothing was served family style. The décor was rather nice, but the portraits were excessive. In the end, we won't be returning here but it was an acceptable experience. If you're looking for great classic, family, or upscale Italian fare, then you're better off going elsewhere."

"We have always loved Ristorante Bartolatta. This time was no different. I had the fish stew (Brodo di Pesce) which was a special on the lenten chefs menu. So delicious I want lent to last till Christmas!

Bartolatta keeps the fare clean and delicious. Many newer Italian restaurants in the area overload their entrees with extra ingredients making the food too busy. Not here."

"2nd time there. Food was outstanding, again. However, service was unexpectedly lackluster. We were seated in a corner and ended up getting lost in the corner, from bread to water, to clearing the table. Not that these things didn't happen, but it was extremely slow and quite the opposite of our experience last time. Disappointed. I would go back for the food and would request the server we had at our first visit, but I'm not sure my husband will be willing to make the trek from Chicago again based on this experience :(
I know the food is good, but I expect the treatment by all staff to be on the same level as the prices!"

"It pains me to write this, as I have loved this restaurant for nearly 20 years, but it is not the place it used to be. All the little things that elevated this spot from good to great have been lost and so it has become just an average, higher-priced restaurant. I ordered from their tasting menu while my husband ordered a la carte. This does create challenges with serving, however, a great restaurant would have understood the timing and delivered the courses appropriately. "Fantastic place!
Menu was full of things I loved! Loved the changing chef's menu- especially the Lenten theme AND the fact that items could be ordered a la carte!

"The food was excellent and the service was great. Had a great wine recommendation and an extensive list to choose from. Would recommend reserving for Saturday night several days ahead to request a table that was a bit more private as we were between 2 large tables and it was a touch noisier than desired. Would highly recommend this restaurant and we plan to come back in the near future as this was one of the nicer dining experiences we have had in the last few years."

"This was my partner's birthday, a day prior to Valentine's day, so the evening was special on two fronts. She has always loved this restaurant and we reserve it for at least 4 very special occasions each year.
I had a surprise gift for her that evening and wanted the staff to bring it to the table between our main course and dessert. This was done with class and professionalism, not to mention dessert being on the house.
The service and food were exceptional as always, and the wine chosen was "over the top".
