"We went using a Blackboardeats coupon. It was good for a free bottle of wine. To our surprise, the wine was a $36 bottle of wine. It went so well with our fondue. The fondue was great wih plenty of interesting pieces of bread, apple, grapes, olives, ect. to dip into the cheese. We also enjoyed pieces of steak dipped into the hot delicious cheese. Our waiter was such a sweetie. Do go and have fun."

"Delicious food with great options. This is a fun place for a date or a ladies night. The cheese fondue is amazing, we had the traditional. It usually comes with grapes, apples, olives, gherkins, bread, and potatoes to dip. We also got the salami, cured meat platter that also came with melon. The cured meat fit so well and so wonderfully. The dark chocolate with cayenne dip is also very amazing! The dips are really great for up to two people, but we had a little more in our group. The salad is a large size and pretty filling as well. I would definitely return!"

"I've only been to a couple of fondue restaurants (melting pot and la fondue), so I just assumed that this restaurant would be similar. It's actually quite different. The other places have you cook your own food... kind of a cool experience. Here, the food is all cooked for you... you just dip and eat. Also, the place is tiny. There's about 5 tables and a bar (where you can order fondue, I believe). So you better make reservations. The food was good though. The atmosphere is nice... looks like a cool place to hang out in San Francisco."

"We had a great time here for my friend's birthday. The fondue was more unique than other places and the dark chocolate with the cayenne was so delicious. We had Lauren as a server and she was wonderful. Highly recommend this place for a fun, intimate dinner, or even a place to stop for snacking."

"Really enjoyed the meal. While it is a little pricey, you have to understand that you are paying for a "long meal" as well as the food itself. (It is highly likely you will hold a table for between 1 and 2 hours while you dine.) The wait staff was excellent and friendly, the dipping items were plentiful.
I couldn't believe how tasty the marshmallows were in the milk chocolate! Yum!"

"A great place for good conversations over some tasty snacks. The fondue was excellent and the servers helpful and accommodating to some special requests (e.g. no garlic in one pot). We had a group of 4 and it was a fun time for all. Plenty of food, good cocktails, wine and beer and a generally laid-back feel to the place made for a fantastic evening!"

"Slightly off the beaten path, it doesn't seem to be a well known place. However, we took the risk and it was worth it! They have fantastic fondue, with unique and tasty options. They are open to changes to their menu options as well for a customizable experience. Old country music plays in the background, and old Western movies play muted on a big screen tv above the bar. They also offered half price happy hour at the bar!!"

"I guess I am not crazy about fondue. Although the experience was a bit different the fondue was boring, lacked flavor, and very pricey for a small pot of cheese served with bread pieces and small roasted potatoes. I would not go back again."

"It was just ok, nothing special. I loved the name and concept of fondue so tried it with some friends. It not really fondue, just a small pot of melted cheese with a candle underneath. The cheeses were tasty. The dipping selection could have been way better though. It was random and small portion for the money. $25 for the pot of cheese with bread cubes, 2 bites of cold raw broccoli, 2 gherkins, a couple grapes. Like I said it was fine but nothing great."

"We had an excellent dinner for a party of 8 for my husband's birthday. The fondu is very good and comes in some interesting combinations. Our favorite had to be a toss up between the Manchego and the traditional. The service was very friendly and accomodating and we would definitely go back again.
The space is very small so be sure to make reservations for parties of 6 or more."

The ambiance is hip and fun, and the stream of cowboy movies contribute nicely to the atmosphere.
There are several cheese and dessert fondue options which serve 2 perfectly.
The traditional cheese fondue was really satisfying and paired nicely with the roasted potatoes, bread, apples and other accompaniments.
I can strongly recommend both the dark chocolate and the white chocolate dessert options.
Tasty salumi, fresh salads and a very nice wine list round out the offerings."

"I used to live on Russ St. when Fondue Cowboy first opened. The restaurant has really brightened up the neighborhood since it opened. "Cute place, very very fun --- love the fondue and fondue combinations as well as the kitschy black and white film offerings playing at the bar. The service is "artsy", for lack-o-better term. I wish this was in a better neighborhood and easier to get to - I would be all over it. But it's in a not-so-good-nor-is-it-safe neighborhood - challenging to get to. But if you find yourself over there - you should go! It is good and it is a great place for food creativity and fun!"

"The food, serving dishes and fondue pot reminded me of a Better Crocker Cooker sized display. Imagine having real fondue but prepared and served in miniature sizes. The bread was cubed in teeny, tiny little cubes, there were pickles as a Fondue item. I've never had pickles with fondue. There was broccoli, great, I like broccoli but there were 3 pieces of it, miniaturized for our dining frustration. And the cheese, the cheese was served in a pot the size of a small cupcake tin. We asked for additional cheese and we had to pay for an entire new fondue set-up. There was no add-on price for more cheese.
The Tiny fondue set-up costs $24 and was not worth it. And that's for 2 people. Call it Betty Crocker Fondue, not Cowboy Fondue!"
