Back in 2001, a group of local businessmen got together with an idea to open a restaurant in the historic Southside Village which would focus on three things: Great Food, Great Service, and most of all, Great Times.
Through the years Sam Snead's American Grill has become a favorite local gathering spot. We exhibit Sam Snead memorabilia supplied by the Snead family.
We pride ourselves in offering only the best and freshest ingredients available. We prepare all fresh made soups and sauces, and serve hand cut Certified Angus Beef, which only a select few establishments are able to offer. We receive daily deliveries of fresh local produce, seafood and poultry and our prices and quality add up to value.
We enjoy offering friendly and professional service, paired with the talents of our passionate management and kitchen crew for an outstanding Sarasota dining experience!

"We have been often and always ask for Joe to be our server. This was my birthday so I was disappointed that may prime rib was really too rare and quite tough. After cooking it a little more it was still very tough. The manager replaced it with another cut and I left a happy camper."

"Everything was very nice. Waiter was good, food was good. Table they selected for us was not one we liked, but they were very willing to move us to a table by the window, which was much appreciated.Nice eating experience is an area that is new to us."

"The food was just ok and expensive. Our server spilled our water all over our table as he broke one of the glasses. My daughter cut her hand on one of the glass shards trying to help out. The waiter was a rookie and incredibly nervous, which I'm ok with because everyone has to start somewhere. I thought he would at least offer to discount our bill or offer a dessert... but nothing. Nor did a manager stop by to see if everything was ok.
I thought all of the golf pictures around the place were pretty cool. Other than that, I wouldn't go back."

"Restaurant had a St Patricks day celebration in progress. Their computer system had gone down. They were over an hour behind on reservations. They had trouble controlling the crowd of people and organizing seating. The food was terrible, dry and overcooked on 3 entree's out of four. The forth was a salad so it was hard to overcook. Service was a mess. This was about my worst dining experience at an upscale venue, ever."

"We dined at 6 on a Saturday night as we had theater tix for 8.
So we beat the rush when this restaurant gets very loud.
We all enjoyed our meals. Between the four of us we had
French onion soup, potato bacon soup, crab Louie salad (yum)
a Reuben and chicken Marsala. All were pleased.
Make a reservation! They take them and avoid the wait.
New management has brightened things up. It was getting
a little staid. Good, reliable restaurant with something for everyone."

"Went there on Valentines Day. It was super busy. Just not sure why you take reservations if you still have to wait 30 min. I know its a busy night, but don't stuff the place and make people wait. The food was excellent as well as the waiter. Overall I would go back, just not for Valentines Day."

"We had to wait over 30 minutes with two octogenarians and little space to sit down. They offered to sell us drinks while we were standing there but no other concession. All the while a table for 6 went unused because a party was late arriving for their reservation."

"Dining room is way too crowded- too many tables in a small space - you wind up literally sitting on top of one another - had a 7:45 reservation but didn't get seated in the dining room until 8:25 - realize that it was Valentine's Day , but the front of the house seemed overwhelmed by the crowd waiting to get in- had sidewalk tables that were available but couldn't figure out what was the policy about sitting out there - hostess took us out there to sit at an available table only to find that a party without a reservation walked up and took it -then it was back to the bar to wait some more for our party to get a table-"

"We like Sam Snead's and go there fairly often. I think they have had a recent management change. On this occasion, we went for Valentine's Day, which turned out to be a big mistake. We made our reservation for 7:30 p.m. through Open Table and showed up at the appointed time. There was a line of people inside the restaurant that extended onto the sidewalk outside of the restaurant. When I got to the hostess stand I was told they were running late and it would be 20 minutes before they would have our table. We fortunately found two seats at the bar and had a drink, and waited... and waited... and waited. At 8:28 p.m., nearly an hour after our reservation, our name was called. They overbooked and we had to wait forever to get a table."

"Quality of the food is most important to us and Monday night, February 4, the food was far from the past excellence we have experienced. The Prime Rib and the Filet were so dry they were uneatable. My wife and I took both pieces of meat home rather than complain or return the food to the kitchen because we were with old friends from up north who were visiting for the evening and we did not want to make a scene. Normally, we would have sent it back to the kitchen. It appeared the meat had been previously cooked and then reheated before serving. It was a terrible experience especially because we had stated how much we liked Sam Snead's to our friends before dinner."
