Cadillac Cafe at The Detroit Opera House
The Cadillac Cafe is located on the Madison Avenue side of the Detroit Opera House. This cozy, pub-like bistro is always open two hours before any event at the Detroit Opera House and all major events Downtown. The Cadillac Cafe features a menu for everyone from specially themed entrees for the Opera, Dance, or Concert production on the stage to our wide selection of appetizers, sandwiches, and elegant desserts.
*When making Cafe reservations please allow at least an hour for dining as all items are made to order for the perfect dining experience to accompany your show experience.

"Cadillac Café is perfect if you want a place to eat before the Opera and be able to get up from the table and walk to your seat. Our server left much to be desired as he did not bring out all the food one time. We had a table of 6 and my sister received her main course before her salad. Most of the group was finished with their meal when my main course finally arrived. The server had to ask me what I ordered before he finally brought my food. He also didn't know if the bar had Drambuie; that surprised me because he told us he was the bartender, too! All in all, though, we had a nice time anyway and the spot was just right for what we needed. My food was tasty and what one would expect from a diner."

"Overall my date and I had a nice meal at the Cadillac Cafe. We had a light dinner prior to to attending a Saturday night opera. The persons that we dealt with during our dining experience, Felicty, Ryan and Justin were all very helpful, personable and friendly. Ambiance was nice we had a very small table with a view of the street and tiger stadium.

"Special Feature : upscale environment and convenience for when a person wants to dine before attending a Detroit Opera House show. Would not neccesarily recc the cafe as its own destination if one was not attending the Opera House. My meal (Lamb shank dinner)was excellent, friend's dinner ( chicken? fancy roll sandwich) not very edible. Roll so dry and hard/stale she could only eat the sandwich filling.When wait person told,comment was she agreed as she had tried it herself before and found the same. Howevcer no offer to compensate or provide other dish. Bottle of wine ordered &put on a side table after intial pour. I had to catch another wait person from using it for another person and get it to out table."

Somewhat limited in number of choices, but those offered are well prepared and attractively served. If the drive is upsetting, this setting will get you ready for a pleasant evening. "Our waiter was pleasant but the rest of the staff were not. We felt as though we were inconveniencing the host, as he would not seat us until we were all there, simply because he didn't want to go up the stairs twice. We were told we would be done in one hour, in time for our show, but we were there for an hour and 45 minutes, despite ordering entrees right away. We anticipated ordering appetizers but it took far too long for our waiter to even ask. The host turned people away saying they were "booked", yet we were the only party seated in the dining room. I could continue, but I'll end with this - our experience at the Cadillac Cafe was unpleasant, and we do not anticipate returning."

Were told the non high top tables were for parties of 4. 45 min the table remained empty and at the end of our dinner was seated with 2 people. "We made a reservation for 3 people for dinner and requested a window seat. They instead seated us at a very high (and very tiny) bar table with three tiny stools which would have been fine if we were just having drinks but we had come for dinner. We asked if we could move to a regular dining table (there were all kinds of empty ones, including four 4 tops by the window) but they said no, those tables were reserved. I asked a 2nd time and he agreed to move us upstairs to some kind of members lounge. It was not very busy which was odd but thankfully we were seated at a small but proper dining table.Dinner was excellent. The food is really very good here so it is too bad that they are not able to offer guests proper pre-theatre dinner seatin"

"Once we got it together it was great. First we had trouble finding it. All we knew was that it was in the Opera House, but all the doors were locked. Just I figured out the entrance was around the corner, an employee of the Opera House took pity on us and opened the doors for us. She also very sweetly guided us to the entrance. Our second problem was a slight hitch with the servers. We were there 10 minutes before we asked who are server was, a very sweet waitstaff said she would send him/her right over. A minute later she was back apologizing because she was our server. She was so cute Nd contrite we couldn't stay mad at her. After that it was smooth sailing. I had the lobster Mac and cheese. One word, stupendous."

"table was set up on 2nd floor, felt like overflow. Music was a static radio in corner. food was bought up from the kitchen, covered. My sandwich was dried out and cold. I believe everything was made ahead. The location was easy for my young daughter and I before lion King. But I will never go back. Service was busy but nice."

"I took my children here for dinner prior to seeing a show at the Opera House. This was our first visit and it was also a birthday celebration. The food was not what I expected, the shrimp cocktail was warm even though it was laying on ice, the salad was very large pieces of lettuce that wasn't crisp and had brown edges, the coke was flat, the salmon dinner and lobster mac and cheese was warm not hot and the broccoli was under cooked with no butter or seasoning. I ordered the puffed pastry with mushroom sauce and they brought me a chicken dish, so by the time my food was delivered the rest of my party was halfway through dinner and my food was also just warm! Dessert was good but nothing great, overall high priced but not high quality."

"What a great place to drop into for dinner before an event at the Opera House! Modest menu but delivers on taste and quality. Recommend the lobster rolls for something light before a performance. For desert, the Key Lime Pie was great. Wait staff is very friendly. Make sure to book at least a 6pm reservation if heading in for a 7:30 show to enjoy your meal."
