"We were there on Saturday night...there were only 5 or 6 tables taken and they refused to put us at a larger table which would have been more comfortable, but relented a little and put us at a table for 2 that had padded seats after I complained about the wooden ones. The menu is too limited, expensive, and not terribly exciting. The waiter was marvelous and accomodating. The maitre'd always seems officious and unfriendly. They would be a real hit with better food, lower prices and interesting menu."

"We enjoyed our dining experience at Cadence very much, and we will definitely keep the restaurant on our list of pre-concert dining options. Our pre-dinner cocktails at the bar were large, delicious, and very well made plus the bartender was a delight. My husband was particularly impressed that she knew how to make his favorite martini, the Vesper. Our dinner began with complimentary fried olives that were quite tasty and continued with delicious fish entrees and two glasses of wine. The portion sizes were fine with us as we find so many restaurant portions far larger than necessary or healthy, for that matter. We enjoyed the crusty rolls and butter and shared a small dessert, and we were completely satisfied with Cadence."

"We had a drink at the bar and the bartenders were extraordinary. It's a great atmosphere being within the KImmel center and then going onto the Phil orchestra in Verizon Hall. Food was quite good."

"The menu at Cadence is brief, but we found the food to be excellent - well prepared and
attractively presented. The desserts - sorbet and mousse- were especially nice. Our
server was attentive and competent. The downside - no ambience! We were seated near
the window and it was cold. Our metal chairs didn't help. Some seating was available
with upholstered chairs, but even these didn't look comfortable. Overall atmosphere
is cafeteria cold, not in line with the restaurant's capability. Needs sprucing up!"

"I had wanted the salmon, but the server explained their salmon order didn't come in that day, but they would gladly substitute shrimp. It was delicious and a very good sub. Next time I'll get the salmon. Yes, there will definately be a next time."

"On a Monday evening before a not-so-very-sold-out concert in Verizon Hall, the restaurant was more or less deserted, all of which was perfectly pleasant for the diners (all eight [8] of us) but not exactly what the venue had in mind by way of patronage. Nonetheless, the food was fine, and the service was exemplary."

"We enjoy eating at the Cadence before going to the orchestra. We only have to park once. The food is always good, though portions are not generous. Service is almost always good. Because it's at the theater, you don't have to tell them you have a time constraint. This time, because of weather, we were 1/2 hour late for our reservation. No fuss was made about that, and we had plenty of time to eat, including dessert, before the show. Although the time was crunched, the waiter made sure we got everything in, without feeling rushed."

"I had the baked cod. It was very good although it seemed to be a very small portion. The accompanying vegetables were also very good. The salad was fresh the dressing excellent. I had the mixed greens with goat cheese. The house wine, a Pinot Grigio was good. I ordered espresso after the meal. It was the only disappointment. It was lukewarm and tasted like some kind of instant coffee. It also did not have a slice of lemon rind in it. When the maitre de asked me how I liked it I told him and he whisked it away and came back with a hot cup. Taste was same"

"The Cadence has been one of our favorites since it opened. I was thrilled that they were open on Monday night for my party of 6. They took special care of us. The service was terrific. The lack of noise is another of the Cadence's special attributes. We never had to strain to hear each other in our conversation.
And the ease of making reservations on Open Table is another important plus.

"In a couple of words, completely offbeat. We had a 6:30pm reservation and right away the service started off with the waitress taking extra long to get us started, it continued throuh the meal. Everything about the meal was less than impressive. The bread was OK and all they gave us was a slab of butter. Both of our appetizers were OK, and our entries were disappointing. I ordered the Filet Mignon,it's accompamient was root veggies and a measly potato. The service was so bad that we did not even have time for coffee or dessert and had to run to our show at the Merriam. The foursome by our side's waitress got their coffee and dessert wrong and they could not even enjoy it because they had to run to their show. Thumbs down for this pick!!!!"

"My Mother and I thoroughly enjoyed brunch & A Salute to Vienna on January 3rd. The food was very good, beautifully & efficiently presented. In addition, the convenience of such a restaurant on site was wonderful. Our Host was a lovely young man who helped make our dining experience even better.

One observation - the Cadence offers such delicious food in an exceptional environment, my suggestion ...change the ambiance by providing more comfortable seating and updated tables."

"The service started out quite strong but got worse through the meal as it got closer to 8pm, when everyone exited for the orchestra performance. The salmon entree was delicious, but the sides that accompanied it were served cold. Once a server could be located, they agreed to bring out new sides that would be hot. It took 20 minutes to get sweetener for coffee/tea. Worth going if you want to eat in conjunction with a performance, but not if you do not have a reason to be in the building."

"This was our first visit to Cadence Restaurant. We were there for lunch prior to The Philly POPS Holiday show. The menu was a somewhat limited one which one could expect with the crowds prior to a show. Both of us thought our food selections were very good. Our waitress, Sara, was exceptionally good--very attentive to all she served. On a special outing for us, lunch at the Cadence was a very nice way to start."

"Cadence should be an ideal place to have a nice dinner before a concert in the Kimmel. Unfortunately the service is so bad that even if one arrives at 6:15 for a 7:30 concert there is not enough time to have an appetizer, entree and dessert. We spent most of our time wondering where our food was and if we would make the concert without having to gobble down our food. The menu is limited to 6 items (2 sea food, 3 meat, 1 pasta) but in general this is not a problem. We will probably not return but if you are planning on going arrive at 5:15 for a 7:30 show or 5:45 for an 8:00 show."

"The food has improved dramatically each year at Cadence, starting from a fairly good level to the present excellent fare for everyone in the party. The service was extremely friendly. The food delivery was a little slow but they made sure we made the concert on time. We arrived to a full dining room which explains the delays. We will return again."

"Entrees a bit overpriced for small portions, but food itself is excellent. Couldn't really judge the overall service because there was a mix up as to who our server was and we waited a good fifteen minutes before asking if anyone was going to attend to us. After that the service was good. Of course, it is situated in the Kimmel which is great in itself but very convenient for concerts....lovely evening!"

"The food was expensive but very good. The exception was the lamb that, while cooked exactly to medium, was tough. It's unfortunate that the restaurant limits its hours to open only when the Philadelphia Orch. performs. Considering all the events at the Kimmel when the restarant is closed, the logic of missing a profitable evening escapes me."

"The Cadence is an under-appreciated restaurant. When we have an event at the Kimmel Center, it is perfect for us. I love being able to relax before the orchestra or chamber music series, and at 10 minutes before the curtain, being able to leisurely proceed to our seats.

"Though the restaurant is marvelously convenient when attending an event at the Kimmel Center, the atmosphere is a bit cold.Some more flowers or candles or other decor might help. However the food was good, though not ample. My partner had scallops... 5 small ones, I had salmon which was well prepared. The prices were a bit high for the portions. Our server was terrific, and that always makes a difference. Would I go back? Probably."

"there is a middle-area of poor seating which feels like a college cafeteria--that's where we were seated. it was quiet at least which was nice. the caesar salad was very good, the butter lettuce salad was just odd with potato chippy things which were too heavy for a salad. the filet mignon was well cooked (rare) as was the duck but the accompaniments were sparse in the case of the filet and overdone and oily with the duck. the carafe of cabernet sauvignon was very nice and the service was excellent. the food was just a serious disappointment for the prices. we went for the convenience as we had tickets for a performance that evening. but honestly? after the meal we had at cadence, i'm now willing to risk having to run to make the orchestra."
