"This place is great for good food and some scottish specialties and for oysters, but the real winner for me is the list of single malt scotches, which includes several of my all-time favorites !. WOW I had made about 12 phone calls trying to find a place that had a good scotch list in the village, and this one was the ONLY one."

"I have taken various friends and groups here and the food and service are always great. Fantastic list of single malts, not to be missed. Also a plus that they do not keep you standing in the bar until all guests arrive, you can have your table and peruse the menu over a scotch while you wait."

"Hated this meal -- it was so noisy couldn't hear anyone. food was "FINE" for price point. but they left my first guests waiting outside before I came."

"Highlands is the absolute best of Scottish cuisine. The Beef Wellington is out of this world. If they have the lamb burger or haggis special, those are also good bets. It can definitely get loud with the bustling bar scene only partially separated by a brick wall, and when the bar is busy, you might notice that drinks orders from the restaurant come out slower than the food. But the service is otherwise great (and they took one of our slower drinks off the check). They've also got an extensive menu of Scottish whiskies. Highlands is one of our favorite NYC restaurants."

"The food was terrible. Everything was very spicy and the menu did note it at all. The servers were excellent and they did try to help, but I could find nothing edible for me."

"We are of Scottish descent. What a thrill to find a place that offers an homage to the old country but with a new twist on old recipes. Salmon, scallops, and an incredible beef Wellington. Handsome waiters. Beautiful decor, but relaxed and comfortable. Tables a bit tight. Great flavors, delicious food. Scotch based cocktails. Loved it."

"We ate at Highlands for dinner on Sunday and really had a wonderful time. We had Ted as our server, and he was impressively knowledgeable about the scotch offerings (made GREAT recommendations) and the food. The restaurant is divided between a dining area and a bar area so we could have a more quiet dinner away from the bar. Will definitely go back!!"

"I checked off "notable wine list", but what I really mean is notable scotch list! They provide you with a huge binder with info about all the scotch they have if you are not sure what to try. Also have a few Scottish beers the you don't see that often. It was out second time there, food is great, my boyfriend loves the haggis while I'm obsessed with the Scotch eggs."

"Food was outstanding. There was only a set menu without any prices which ended up being very expensive but the quality was worth it. Ambiance is loud but energetic."

"Wonderful scotch, great food and good service. I have taken three different groups to eat here and all have loved it. Only complaint (on every occasion) was that the dining room is uncomfortably hot with no control over heating. So I would avoid November through March."

"We went to Highlands soon after it opened and it was pretty good but wasn't overly thrilled with the menu. Love going there for the bar scene and the drinks. However, we decided to go for V-Day and it was amazing. The lamb pie was soooo good and I seriously can't say enough about the whiskey bread. It's inventive, unique and insanely tasty, especially with butter. It was two of my favorite things in one mouthful, bread and scotchy scotch. Congrats on that one. I only wish we had room for dessert because they sounded great. Next time!"
