"We arrive ten minutes early to find a sullen hostess. Next we waited ten minutes for a server, she arrives takes our order and then another ten minutes for a bloody mary we ordered. When we looked over at the bar we noticed that the bartender was ignoring waiters and just talking to two people at the bar instead. Waiteress comes over to apologize that they didnt have food my wife ordered so we change order to eggs and bacon. 45 minutes go by with no stop over from waitress or staff. We notice that very few if any tables are getting food. Final straw was waiting almost an hour for food only to see the hostess get her food and eat at the bar. We put $ down for the bloody mary and walked out. Would highly advise not going"

"They may have been a little understaffed when we went in. It took quite a while for us to get any service and the waitress was super busy. When she was able to come to our table, she was very nice and apologetic for the wait time. The food was very good though!"

"When my fiance and I recently visited the restaurant I was very much looking forward to trying their eggs benedict with crab cakes and he had already set his sights on the steak and eggs breakfast. the egges in the eggs benedict were close to being hard boiled, I mentioned it to our waitress and she happily sent put in another order for me. I thought she would take my plate but she told me I could continue to nosh on the roasted potatoes until the eggs were ready. Another person came by and took my plate away, so I guess noshing on the potatoes was no longer an option. When they brought the eggs back they were the same way. The steak and eggs ordered left much to be desired. The steak was non-existant as the portion was tiny."

"Been there for breakfast several times, GREAT FOOD...very unique...Need to get down there for a lunch, menu looks great! Yet to try the chicken waffles. Relaxed atmosphere whether with the hubby or friends. Always great service and the only place I drink for breakfast. Live in west county, but love the city atmosphere!"

"I came here on my birthday (about 6pm) to try something new, and I am glad we came. We did not arrive late enough for the band, but the soul & motown music playing was great. I stared with a Paristyle martini which was very tasty and not too sweet. I ate the spinach salad and Josephine sandwich and both were delicious. My husband had the Lola wedge and the fish & fries and he really liked his food too. Service was friendly and I didn't feel like we waited long for our food. I would like to come back and try the brunch that is raved about."

"I've been wanting to try chicken and waffles for a long time. So glad I finally got to have them at Lola's.It was wonderful! My friends came to town and we went for brunch.Crab cake benedict was delicious as well the creole bread pudding. It was a great time, although really noisy. I will definitely go back!"

"Stopped by for Saturday bruch with 3 of my close friends on St. Patty's day. I was very impressed with the level of service despite the St. Patty Crawl event that was taking place. We were seated immediately and the food came out quickly. The chicken and waffles were delicious! This was my second time having brunch at Lola's in the past 2 months and I will say that Saturday is a much better day to go than Sunday."

"Lolas brunch is the perfect meal after a free tour of the newly renovated Central Library across the street. The service at Lolas on Saturday was the best it could have been: great attitude and well-trained staff. We rank service and atmosphere equal to food for our repeat business. The hostess cheerfully moved our reservation up 2 hours, the waitress was friendly and efficient, the server was genuinely chagrined that we needed tableware. Bravo on Bloody Marys! The chicken on the chicken and waffles was slightly dry. Otherwise the food was delicious. We will have to return to try dessert; both choices were out by noon. Assuming because of St. Pat's festivities."

"Server took good care of us when we had less time than we had hoped for supper. They even got the too-loud music turned down. Perhaps it would have been a better volume with more people in the restaurant, but during the 5 o'clock hour it was too much.
Food tasted great, although two in my party complained that dishes arrived not temperature hot enough for them. My meal (grilled chicken) was very good and prepared flawlessly."

"I can always count on brunch being AMAZING. some dinner options are absolutely fantastic (i.e. the stuffed portobello), while others are a little blan (i.e. the lobster dog, however the mac n' cheese that went with it was phenomenal). "We enjoyed the food and the ambiance We came in at 6:00, the quartet started playing its first set almost immediately, and we had a great time. The food came out relatively quickly, and was tasty.
This was going to be a very positive review, until we got the check. The total itself was reasonable, a good deal for the food/drinks that we had. The frustrating part was that the server had applied an automatic 18% tip (on a party of 4, which she voluntarily split into two duos), and then wrote "THANK YOU" in bold lettering over the automatic gratuity making it impossible to read. "This is a night club that wants to be a restaraunt when they grow up. We were seated beside an ugly black stage with huge speakers and a drum set. We lit our own candle hoping it would help provide enough light to see the menu. When we asked our server if she could turn on another light she flipped on the stage strobe light which falshes red, yellow, green. At this point, we got up to leave-if we can't read the menu and the service is cold and rude-what predictor is that of the rest of the evening. A manager (?) met us on the way out to say"Can't find anything you like on the menu?" My reply: "the service is cold & rude and the lighting is too dark to even see the menu." His response, no words - just a disgruntled shocked look. And I left."

"We were excited to try Lola after all the good reviews it has received. We were deeply disappointed. The service was terrible-it was extremely slow and they were not crowded at all when we first arrived. We had to walk from our table to the bar to get a drink menu since the waiter did not offer one. Then, It seems like it took forever for our drinks we ordered to be brought to the table. My husband ordered a bowl of gumbo with his dinner which never did arrive. Luckily, we were not charged for it. Another member in our dining party was brought out the wrong entree and his correct entree did not arrive until after we were all done eating. Slow service along with only moderately good food. We will not be going back anytime soon!"

"I was disappointed the day I went. The menu looked so great online and I was excited for my brunch. The restaurant was buzzing with people and I was glad I had made the reservation.
My first disappointment was that the kitchen was out of Salmon for the Salmon Benedict. It seemed odd that they would run out by 11 a.m. on a brunch morning, but I guess it can happen. Our server didn't know and actually encouraged us to order it. After he placed the order he had to come back so we could look at the menu again. The actual food was sad and uninspired. Mine was 4 foods sitting in 4 corners of my plate. Dry eggs with white cheese, white grits, white bread, and a sausage. Creole Breakfast Scramble had no flair or zing."

"This was our first time at LOLA's and we will definitely return. The food was outstanding, well prepared and timely service. Our waitor was attentive to our requests and made us feel extremely comfortable. Entertainment by Mo Egeston was great and set a relaxed jazzy mood. Ambiance was appropriate for the dinner hour. We made reservations and were welcomed when we arrived - our seating request was exactly what we asked for. Seating and table locations allow a view to the entertainment from almost anywhere in the house."

"Food was excellent. We went on a grey, rainy day and the food was innovative, comforting, and oh so yummy! There did not appear to be a ton of seating and sat in front of the stage. Liked the music, but it was a little loud for a Sunday brunch trying to catch up with friends. I will definitely return to try more menu items as well as sample the extensive drink menu."

"We've eaten here a few times, so when a Groupon came along for brunch, we decided to go. The service for our drinks was extremely slow. Food was very good, but the Eggs Benedict came with nothing else (no potatoes or asparagus ... just 2 small eggs benedict). The other entrees were very small, too."
