Inspired by the Japanese Izakaya concept, Yakuza is a true food-lover's bar, offering exceptional drinks and signature dishes best shared with good friends. Beloved for its classic Kobe Tartar (with jalapeno lime oil + crispy poached egg), Sashimi Trio (tuna, yellowtail + salmon with Thai chili + tobiko) and the award-winning Yakuza Burger (with chevre, shoestring potatoes, house catsup + spicy mayo), Yakuza consistently ups the ante with new favorites like Grilled Octopus or Dungeness Crab Rolls with avocado + crème fraiche. "we had reservations for 4, and were seated quickly. There were plenty of empty tables around us, but the burgers took 40 minutes to arrive after we'd ordered.
We ate quickly and another 30 minute later the server/hostess asked if we could move to the bar to chit chat and stay as long as we'd like but that other people were waiting for a table.
That was completely unacceptable. This was not during happy hour and there were still empty tables around us. We had reservations and were paying customers. We will not be coming back to such as establishment that does not value repeat customers."

"Delicious, quick service. Sushi was fresh and not skimpy! The crab roll and spicy tuna roll were awesome. The scallop plate was out of control delicious! The sun choke purée on the side was superb! Overall, I will be back soon after my baby girl is born so I can enjoy one of their innovative cocktails or some cold sake this summer!"

"Not enough food selection for me. I'm not a sushi-eater, but my boyfriend and his friend are. I like the tempuras and other Japanese stuff, which they are lacking. I tried to order Hamachi Kama which is my favorite food to eat at japanese but they didn't have that either. So if your'e not a sushi-eater, not the right place to go. It won't make everybody happy, so it's not the right place for groups either.
So we're not going back there, at least not for awhile."

"Had a party of 14 including 4 young children. Excellent food, staff very flexible. Food came in a timely pace and they let us bring in the birthday dessert! Husband loved the excellent Kobi beef burger as he is not a fan of sushi.... ribs were outstanding as was everything else. Will certainly return."

"I had made reservations for a friend and me and had one thing in mind, a kobe beef burger. The meal was simple. $12 for a single burger, nothing more, nothing less. But it was worth the price for how delicious it was! It has fried onions and a house made spicy mayo that added a good smokey flavor. They offer a good amount of mixed drinks and wines as well as sushi rolls. The place is dimly lit with candles at each table and wood interior that makes for a pleasant atmosphere. Definitely recommend to couples or groups for a nice experience."

"We came here for dinner based on a menu that a companion saw online. We arrived and were seated promptly on a Saturday night. The menu is small plates for the most part. The food was very tasty. My companion had food allergies and had to ask questions about what she ate. It would be helpful if some of the soy sauce would be gluten-free. Since it's available, it would allow more choices to some diners."

"As always Yakuza Lounge tantalized our taste buds with a slew of great flavors. The Yakuza burger (Kobe beef medium rare, chevre cheese, shoestring potatoes, some kind of sauce, plus a healthy dash of awesome) was amazing as always. It is one of my top ten restaurants in Portland and the Yakuza burger is hands down the best hamburger I have ever put in my mouth to date. Seating was easy thanks to OpenTable and was a nice bench table. They have great outdoor seating when the weather isn't abysmal. Find some time to go try their great sushi or better yet forget your in a sushi bar and order the burger. You won't regret it."

"The Yakuza Lounge, a converted old garage that is now a swanky hip restaurant. The sushi is excellent and the drink menu quite large. The wait staff is friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to offer alternatives when tweaking for allergies is needed. The Yakuza Burger (at a sushi bar you say? Helz yes I say!) is hands down the best burger in Portland and I quite frankly can't recall where else I might have had a better one. The only shortcoming is the few vegetarian items, surprising in this day and age at least in this town.wall tables. Give it a try, your mouth will thank you."
