"We had heard about the Grill from some locals but had never been before. It's not in the greatest location, but it really is a diamond in the rough.
We were a large party (13) on Mother's Day evening and were put in a separate dining area with a wonderful waitress. Food was delicious and there was none of the long waits one expects on Mother's Day.

"Everything we ate was wonderful, had to stop ourselves from filling up on the crab dip appetizer, and the jambalya and crab-stuffed salmon we had for entrees were delicous. We're going back soon for the prime rib special on Monday night. The choice of large or smaller portions was also a nice surprise.

We had a group of 5, & we were so happy to be seated in sort of a private dining area so we could easily hear the conversation (which is not so easy in most restaurants). The food was simply phenomenal -- fresh seafood, great Italian & just delicious. We will continue to go back. Like the fact that the chef or owner (we're not sure which) comes out to check on how we like the food, etc. One of our favorite places!"

"We were tempted to try the Potomac Grill based on open table ads and one local ad offering 25% off the entire check up to $20. Prior to ordering, the waiter informed us that the 25% off coupon did not apply to the shrimp special. One of us ordered it anyway, but the other 3 ordered from the menu. The shrimp and prime rib dinners were very good as was the atmosphere. When it came time to pay the check, we were informed that the 25% off coupon did not apply to any of the charges because one person ordered the shrimp special. Our guests offered to pay for their own dinner using the coupon, but the waiter refused this request and our request to see the manager. We left with a bad taste in our mouths."

"The wait staff was attentive.. The food out of this world. My wife's Prime Rib was cooked to perfection. My Sirloin steak was superb.
Some places can't seem to get the two done correctly at the same time (hear that Outback?)
-NOT HERE-PERFECT THE FIRST TIME!!
Check out the soup - a free taste - I understand why!!! HAD to get one! It was a Turkey w/Rice.
Now in some places, the vegetables are second cousins to the meal. In other words they are an afterthought.
AGAIN - NOT HERE - The sauteed mushrooms - were to die for. The mixed vegetables, cooked to perfection... The grilled red Onion... AHHHHH.
The desert was great too."

"Food was good for the price. Was annoyed that my Caesar salad came with dressing on the side in a plastic cup. It never fails that when mixing dressing into a salad on a tiny plate, food will fall onto the table and dressing will splatter onto some article of clothing. Also, the waiter left empty plates on the table throughout the entire meal. Other than that, it was a good dining experience."

"The only reason I didn't give the restaurant an outstanding score is because they had run out of the dish that my daughter wanted. (Corned beef and cabbage on St. Patrick's Day.) Understandable, really. We were seated by the fireplace and it was really relaxing. I could see having a romantic dinner with my hubby there. Our server was wonderful. He was friendly without seeming fake. We were checked on at regular intervals. The food was amazing. My daughter loved the steak salad. She said it was the best thing she ever ate. We both LOVED the portobella mushrooms stuffed with crab imperial. YUMMY! We definitely will be visiting The Potomac Grill again."

"Our first visit (based upon a friend's recommendation). We had reservations and arrived before the room filled up. We were seated (even though there were many other empty tables at the time) in probably the worst table (ajacent to the bar, across for the wait staion, and next to the kitchen entrance. We asked to be moved, but could not be accomodated. Food was good, served timely. Service was excellent. Live music once it started made it impossible to conduct conversation without nearly shouting and straining to hear. While loud music for a bar may be good, for people trying to converse at dinner, it is just not acceptable. A shame."

"Twice a month for almost 2 years we've been dining at the Potomac Grill. We've told friends how nice it is - good food, good service (a friend of ours office actually has a dinner scheduled because of our recommendation). Last Sunday they were unusually busy. I'd forgotten to request our normal booth and our table was in front of the musicians. We immediately asked to be moved (and asked again)..we never were. We were told we would be, given excuses of how busy they were, but we were not moved. Had we been told there was nothing that could be done we would have endured the noise...not happily. But our waitress lied to us, gave us TMI about how busy they were, had to be asked to bring bread and coffee. We will not be back."

"Service was average, waitress seemed uninterested and misinformed. Atmosphere was confusing. Is it supposed to be casual or quaint? It was neither. Food was good and portion size good. I liked that they had a petite option. Cocktails are way overpriced. Creme Brûlée was amongst the worst I've ever had. It was cold and not glassed."

"Our reservation was at 5 pm on a weekday. There were not many people in the restaurant at that time so the noise level was quiet. Our server (Joey) was attentive and gave outstanding service. The crabcakes were delicious. The prime rib was very tender and "melt in your mouth" good. We loved the ice cream cake which tasted like it was really home made with yellow cake, chocolate cake and vanilla ice cream in the middle. We enjoyed this dining experience and plan to return for more!"

"I will say the food was very good. However, my date and I did feel slighted as far as the service was concerned. It was a busy Valentine's Day night and i can appreciate that. However, the waiter was addressed for obvious discrepancies between his service level amongst his tables. He was quick to point the blame on other employees lack of responsibility but was providing the service in question personally to other tables (bread which we never got, only one drink received but second was ordered). I would go back to retry, but not sure i would accept same waiter."
