"My wife and I have always liked this restaurant. It is not spectacular but it is very good. It is what we would call a solid restaurant in that it is very consistent in the product they put out. Would recommend to others and we will continue to return."

"Five of us (old friends from the 60's) met for lunch -- two from West Los Angeles and three from La Jolla. It was a wonderful place to meet halfway, and we were delighted by the way we were greeted and the special table that was set up for us which looked out on the San Juan Capistrano Mission which is directly across the street. Everyone loved her food choice. The service was attentive but not over-powering, and the hostess had the table set up for us, so we would have the great view of the mission. We shall return!!"

"I needed a place to meet halfway between Los Angeles and San Diego and San Juan Capistrano was decided upon. I went to Open Table and checked restaurants in the area and Cedar Creek Inn was one of the choices. I checked the menu and the selections are plentiful and well priced. I made the reservation online and we had a great time visiting family and celebrating a birthday and Mother'sDay."

"I am writing this just to try and understand the managements reason for a corkage fee. Normally I would say no problem. But when I asked the manager and said, it's my 60th bday and my daughter brought me a bottle of champagne can you forgo that fee he said "no I'm sorry" We spent over $245.00 on dinner. I must admit I was a little miffed by the actions of the management. We did like Juliette. She said she was new, but we broke her in and had fun with her."

"This restaurant has a very nice patio with very nice ambiance. There are numerous trees and some flowers in pots. The service is good. The food is average. The caesar salad with chicken was like any such salad anywhere. I ordered the grilled eggplant sandwhich which I sent back. The eggplant was saturated with oil, the tomato (which he menu did not mention) was unripe, the grilled onions were non existent (which the menu did mention) and the cheese was barely there. All and all, an oily mess. The waiter was very positive in my ordering something else. I chose the turkey turkey rolls. These were far better, the best dish we ordered."

"Cedar Creek is one of our favorite restaurants in Capistrano. We always get the table in front of the main room's fireplace....so cozy and relaxing. In the Summer, it's nice to sit outside on their patio. I haven't had any dish I didn't love. Especially yummy is their calamari, fried green bean appetizer (like fried zucchini, but with green beans), jalapeno jack pasta with blackened chicken. And do not leave here without having their famous, made-from-scratch coconut cake. We love the ambiance, great service and great food here. 6 of us ate pre-dinner salads, entrees (mostly steaks and prime rib), two appetizers shared for the table, iced teas and we shared 3 desserts (cake slices) for $200, which I think is moderate for all of that food."

"I live far from SJC so have only been to your restaurant twice in about seven years. The first time was for dinner, and the second was a birthday lunch. I have heard people I know whom live nearby speak very well of your food and service.
Our server (female) was very upbeat, aware of our needs.
The meal I ordered was very good.

"We shared a wonderful 94th birthday at Cedar Creek. My Mom is originally from Capistrano, so this was very special and everyone went out of the way to make it extra special. From the moment we were seated to the time we left the door we were treated exceptionally well, and I cannot say enough about the service! The appetizers, ried green beans, feta cheese ball and Zuni wraps were delivered within a blink of an eye. Our party ate prime rib, theAhi sandwich, the Ahi entree, a larger house salad, and the roast chicken. all was served at the perfectly. For dessert, the "famous" coconut cake was served and it is the most moist and delicious cake imaginable! Wonderful experience!"

"We have enjoyed Cedar Creek Inn for many years, even many New Years Eve dinners, however, if our experience on 4/26/2013 is what they now represent themselves, I don't know why we would come back. I had prime rib, that was so dry, it was hard to swallow. My wife had the tuna, set in a non descript sauce. This was a dinner celebrating our birthdays, we would have rather never attended Cedar Creek. What has happened to such a nice place? We have lived in San Juan for many years and enjoy supporting the town. Where else can we go in town to celebrate our special days? Most of both of our dinners was brought home to feed the local dog. He didn't seem to mind. Please bring back whoever you use to have in the kitchen. We have had excellant dinner"

"Wife loves this place so went for anniversary dinner. Sat inside and got table with great view of mission across the street. Service and food were excellent as usual. This visit she had seafood stuffed sole and I the prime rib. Both were done very well. Dessert for her is always the coconut cake with ice cream, even order a second piece to take home.
If you enjoy dining outside they have a nice patio usually with live entertainment and for general relaxation time they have a separate bar area inside that will cure what ails you."

"Over the last 1 years we have eaten at the Cedar Creek Inn regularly. Usually with family and friends. Been there for early breakfast, brunch, dinner and late dinners. The menu has something for everyone. Every time the service has been excellent, the food outstanding and the entire experience pleasureable. Only two observations for those not regularly eating there. Make reservations regardless of when you intend to go. SJC is close to the coast so wait until the weather is warm to sit outside."

"Yes, there is more than one Cedar Creek Inn. But the others do not have Reuben as the Ambassador of cheerful and attentive service. Actually, we have had very good service from everyone who has taken care of our table, weather a large group or just two of us.
There is consistency in the kitchen and most menu items are very good and quite fresh. They aim to please and are gracious if something is not to your liking.
The Patio is almost European in feel as you enjoy the lovely garden feeling, the fountain and gaze across at the ruins of the Mission San Juan. There has been some refurbishing of the street front of the Mission grounds and the garden there. Do enjoy it if you are visiting the area."

"I was called three times and told they didn't have the 7:30 timeslot available that I reserved through OpenTable so I re-scheduled for 7:00, each time. When I arrived at the restaurant they couldn't find my name even though they had called me earlier in the day. Although everything worked out I have had better experiences at the same restaurant with regards to the food and the service. My wife really enjoys going to this restaurant and we normally have a better experience."

"Very disappointed. Looking for a great date night place and found mediocre food and terrible service! Our waitress' attitude went from mildly friendly to completely annoyed when we ordered soft drinks and a water. It took her 15 minutese to deliver those drinks and then another 15 minutes to coe ack and take our order! The fish and chips were not good. Fish was greasy and mushy with barely cooked fries. The meatloaf was cold and covered in both a ketchup like BBQ sauce and brown gravy. Not a great flavor combo. At the end of our meal we actually had to walk our check around trying to find someone to take our money!"

"One of our guest accidentally left his wallet on the table, we walked out walked right back in and it was gone. The table had been cleared we talked to the manager, server and host but no one really seemed to care or won't to investigate.Will never go back!!!!"

"We hd a nice birthday party for our daughter -- very enjoyable. The fudge sundae was delicious. We highly recommend Cedar Creek, they never fail. The food was delicious: Seafood Salad was wonderful, the dressing had a little kick to it as if they added wasabe to the normal seafood sauce. The Cedar Planked Salmon is the best (But, never order this if it is the last salmon available - not good) Our son-in-law order the steak. His remark says it all: "Wow, look at this - done just the way I like!" We had a great time."

"Waited 15+ minutes to be seated. This could be because I requested a booth when I reserved through OpenTable. However, it is important to inform the customer why the wait is so long. The two young hostesses saw me as I was seated nearby and the manager walked by me several times. My observation was that the hostesses simply needed training and this should be the managers responsibility. Because I have been to this restaurant many, many times in the past several years and we have enjoyed both the food and service, we will call this an oversight."

"I love your shrimp stir fry...the shrimp is delicious, and the vegitables are done just right! However, you need to have more than one bar tender doing all the bar tending, and waiting all the tables at lunch time! The service needs to be as good as the food!
