Amada
Amada is not a typical, trendy tapas restaurant. It is something else entirely. Amada serves authentic Spanish tapas based on the earthy Mediterranean flavors that have long been the passion and expertise of founder and executive chef, Jose Garces - but Chef Garces goes beyond tradition, interpreting centuries-old tapas recipes.

"We went for my wife's birthday and we had a wonderful time. A true Spanish Tapas restaurant. We went with the chef's choice which was fabulous and almost too much food (which surprised us because tapas means "small plates") it was a lot of "small plates"! We will definitely go back the next time we are in the city."

"Our orders took a while to arrive but we actually ended up getting three dishes on the house because of the wait. They even gave us the most expensive item on the dish free. Because of this I would come to this place again! The noise was a little bit loud though."

"My husband & I went here for our anniversary & made a reservation about a month ago without a problem (don't wait until the last minute with this restaurant to make a reservation as they fill up fast!!!). We both got a cocktail to start, I got the Dark Habits which was delicious, but as a side note you need to like sweet drinks for this one. My husband got the Tinto sangria which tasted just like being back in Spain. We got the more expensive version of the Chef's Tasting menu & were able to get it with our diet restrictions. It is definitely worth the price!!!! Everything they brought out was terrific, but my top picks were the manghego, mushroom truffle flatbread & the lamb chops. Waitress & staff were very friendly & efficient."

"I'll start off by saying that Spanish tapas portions are a little small for me. Even after seven plates between two people I still left feeling not completely full. I considered ordering a couple more plates, but my guest was done, and very satisfied.
That being said, almost everything we had was delicious. The standouts were the flatbread with wild mushrooms and artichokes and the lamb meatballs. They were fantastic! I would get them again in a heartbeat. Again, all of the food we had was really good, but those were the best.
Service was great. The restaurant was very busy, but the staff were on point and we never waited long for anything.
I look forward to going back and trying some of the other tempting plates on their vast menu."

"We went to Amada for my fiancé's graduation dinner and had a magnificent experience. Our server was appropriately eager to tell us which items he loved and we ended up loving every single bite. The must-eats are the Parmesan artichokes, patatas bravas, and the pear cake with pear clove sorbet (I could eat this everyday and be the happiest girl alive)!"

"We love Amada, and it's always such a treat to eat here. The food is outstanding - highly recommend the Paella Valenciana! The tables are large and nicely spaced so that you never feel crowded or cramped. I really appreciate when a restaurant that could pack more tables in - and fill them - chooses not to do so. Amada never disappoints!"

"It is an original tapas restaurant with recipes and tastes that you find i the Mediterranean, so it is can be considered representative of its kind. Loved the selection of cheeses and cured meats which came together with great accompaniments.
Definitely a city-must!

"The only problem here, which is not a small one, is the staff. The hostess may have been in a really bad mood the day we went, but she set an uncomfortable and unwelcoming tone. Our wait staff was indifferent, and seemed to want to be elsewhere. We had been excited to dine at Amada, but immediately felt that we had made a poor choice.
At least the food at Amada is tasty; we enjoyed all of our dishes...the flavors are all there. The atmosphere is pleasant too.
So if Amada can improve the attitude of their staff, the dining experience there would go up incrementally."

"the food we had was fine - it was the food we ordered that we didn 't have that put a big negativity on the whole experience
after 10 minutes of waiting for our third courses, we asked our server - he said it'll be right out - 5 minutes later, we finally managed to get his attention and told him to cancel it - he said no, it'll be right out - I said "that's what you told us 5 minutes ago, and we've been sitting here now for 15 minutes between courses," and asked for our check
it was our first time back in a year or so - sad that their kitchen has deteriorated so"

"Dined last evening with another female co-worker, right away they tried to seat us at a table in a doorway when several tables next to it were empty. We asked to be seated at one of the others open. We did not know there were specials that evening until we overheard the waiter explaining them to the couple next to us. I would have ordered the ramps because they are not often offered at restaurants. One of the tapas were scallops, they were probably the worst I have ever eaten - had a very fishy taste. The waiter did not inquire how we enjoyed the food when we were finished. We felt being two females, we were treated differently."

"I had a business meeting at 1 pm with 4 other people. The service was extremely slow. We had to ask for waiter to get our food order. We had to ask for desert menu and coffee/tea. It was somewhat embarrassing to have my business team over there."

"We had a 6pm dinner reservation this past Saturday (this place books up fast - reserve in advance!) and thoroughly enjoyed our experience. Excellent sangria and the plates are perfect for sharing - the crab stuffed peppers and bacon wrapped dates were stand-outs. I'd definitely return!"

"My date and I decided to give Amada a shot after seeing that it got excellent reviews. The atmosphere was nice; it was not too noisy and the lighting was romantic. The food was generally decent. Each dish ranged from being very good to tasty but nothing special though. The best dishes of the night were the mixto sampler, garlic dulce de leche cheese, Spanish octopus, shrimp a la plancha, and Wagyu sirloin with smoked eel. We were disappointed with the overly salty lamb meatballs, and the artichoke and mushroom flatbread was nothing special. As for cocktails; Matador, and Broken Hugs were very good. If we go again I would get the Tie Me Up Tie Me Down, just for the sake of the name. Overall, we had a very good experience."

"I requested a nice table for my partner's 65th birthday and they provided us with a lovely table in the rear of the restaurant. The rest of the restaurant is much too loud and it would have been impossible for us to hold a conversation without screaming at each other."

"First time having brunch here and we really enjoyed it. We had actually been in for dinner on Friday with friends, and went for brunch here because of the proximity to our hotel. My husband loves the albondigas, he said they were done better during brunch then they had been the other night. Two complaints, the half lobster was overcooked and tough to eat, really a shame, and I wish our server had checked back with us more often, our food took ages and we were given no explanation (everyone around us was being served the same dishes we ordered, but were sat after us), and I would have liked to let someone know about the lobster."

"Our server seemed in a hurry, he spoke very fast like we already knew how things worked there . Wine glass orders were forgotten, diet coke order forgotten...extra bread...oh well ... we had wonderful date and the night was still great. I just expected better from Amada."

"One of the best meals we have ever had. Our management team went there Monday evening; we are a dispersed team so we get together in various cities about every 2-3 months. We have eaten in some great restaurants as part of these meetings. Amada set a new standard last night! We chose to have the Chef make our selections and the wine pairings. It was an exceptional meal of 14 different tapas, including dessert, served in four courses each with its own wine.
Harrison was our waiter. He was very attentive and provided a great education about the tapas selections and the wines. The restaurant was bustling - both the table service and bar. We were seated immediately for our 7pm reservation. It was a GREAT NIGHT!"

"OMG what a dissapointment!
PROS: Sangria and RABILLO DE CADERA dish out of all the food we tasted.
CONS: All the rest of the dishes (7 of them) were greasy and ether absolutely tasteless or HEAVILY over salted. The service was "kind of" nice but spotty and forgetful. The ambiance was dark and VERY noisy. And the whole experience was WAAAY overpriced for what you get.
We couldn't believe what a fake of the real tapas it was.
Definitely this place is out of our list of restaurants. If we crave Spanish Tapas we will find quite a good one in Ole Tapas in Newark, DE."

"Our first time to Amada, and lived up to all expectations. Great atmosphere, helpful & fun staff, and some of the most delicious food I've ever experienced. We ordered the chef's tasting ($65/person) and were simply delighted, specifically with the lamb chops and a very unique salad (wrapped in Serrano ham)."

"Amada is our favorite restaurant in the city, so we were looking forward to our evening. Unfortunately, it was not our best experience. Our table was all the way in the back room in the corner. We didn't feel like we were in the restaurant and could barely see. We've always sat in the bar area or front dining area, which is a much better experience. The food was not at it's best either. The meats and cheeses were outstanding as usual. Sangria was great. Salad and octopus great. But the lamb meat balls and pasta were so salty they were inedible. We couldn't eat either dish, which never happens for us. In fairness, we've been to Amada many, many times, and this was our only "not great" experience, so we will be back.....in the bar"
