"Have eaten in both the bar and the dining room and prefer the bar for the noise level. It was quite noisy in the dining room and a bit hard to hear but overall LOVE this restaurant! Delicious food! Good service. A gem in WP area!"

"Wonderful Chef... Have been following him for years. Cute location in Tabernash with terrific food. So glad to be able to make reservations on line as the place is always busy with waiting times of 30-60 min."

"We began with fabulous "tuna nachos," a delight of sushi-grade tuna on fried wonton strips made brilliant with the addition of a sprinkling of fresh blackberries and strawberries. Grilled corn kernels, black beans, and cheese were lightly added on top, and a drizzle of, possibly, chipolte? dressing made it an unforgettable appetizer. This is but a sample of the wide-ranging menu that includes the best grilled meats in Grand County offered with your choice of toppings. The amazing chef changes a dozen specials on the menu often, at least seasonally. Whenever we're near Winter Park we head often to the Tabernash Tavern, but it has not remained a secret. Do reserve; everybody does."

"We absolutely love this restaurant, and have never in our 6+ visits been disappointed. The mussels are uniformly phenomenal, and the menu variations are creative. Tough to get a reservation on the weekends. Others from Denver have discovered it."

"Although the entree menu sounded exciting and diverse, the execution was hit and miss with very good beef tournedos, but over-cooked chicken.
With their prices, we expected good service, but our server offered fresh pepper and cheese for our pizza, but never brought it. Dishes were also given to the opposite person and she just blamed having a bad day instead of apologizing.
Also, bring a blanket in case they sit you by a leaky window.
Lots of promise, but inconsistent execution, a poor experience, and high prices."

"I don't know if our server had just gone through a rough time or simply hates men, but I have never been so completely ignored by a waitress. She was very friendly with my wife and fine with my 3 kids. However, I was always addressed last, if at all. I had to get her attention before she could walk away after getting refills, etc. from my wife and kids. I had 2 import beers and had to time my requests as I was apparently invisible. She never smiled (at anyone except my wife) and seemed irritated by any interaction with me. I have been dining out for years, for pleasure and business. I tip 20%, am courteous and never say anything inappropriate or extraneous to waitstaff as I know how busy they are. We visit Winterpark every year."

"The ambiance and food were great as usual! Loved the beat salad and Ahi! The Tornados were excellent! However, I felt that our gluten free lifestyle was not met with the friendliest of attitudes, which was off-putting to say the least. When we have eaten at Alberto's, Tabernash Tavern's sister restaurant, Alberto himself came to our table and bent over backwards to make sure our food intollerances were greeted with a friendly attitude. I think that TT could definitely use a little bit of attitude adjustment when addressing patrons who may have certain food intollerances. As far as beverages go, I wouldn't recommend the margaritas. They were terrible."

"This was our second time to Tabernash Tavern. We LOVED it the first time, and this second time was a little disappointing. We were sat in the front section and the server seemed annoyed by our kids. She didn't tell us any of the specials, she just asked if we were ready to order. It was not a cheap meal and I felt a little rushed to move on. Overall, a little disappointing this time around."

"I had one of the house specialties which was salmon with crab stuffing. It was substantially overcooked. I don't know why I did not send it back. The people at the next table of 4 had one person who had same thing (same outcome: she did not finish hers either) and another gentleman who had what I think was a sea bass special. My wife and I overheard him commenting as well about how overcooked his fish entre was. We have never gone to this restaurant before but if I ever go again, I will not be ordering fish. Based on a limited sample of tree dinners on one evening, they do not know how to cook fish properly. Restaurant is otherwise lovely. I would get something in beef."

"Disappointing from previous experiences. As a local I would expect a resevation to be on time when there were tables available and not having to wait for just "our" table to leave. 30 minutes was too much especially with 3 kids in tow."

"Expensive and not worth it. I had a disappointing Pinot that was $15 a glass and a super marbly rib eye that was just OK. Nobody else thought their meal was all that exceptional either. Even the bread was disappointing! $300 for 4 adults and 2 kids. I could have spent that in Vail and had a better meal. This is Winter Park - just sayin'."

"Menu items sound better than the food is. Ie - 4 way chic. Server said 2 items were to be spicy. That was not the case. Rib eye steak also disappointing - not a good cut. But worth going back for the mussels."

"The food was stellar, but the service was just so-so. When we asked what the happy hour specials were, the hostess said it didn't matter since there was no room at the bar. But the happy hour specials were not limited to just bar seating, so we don't know why she didn't answer us. Our waitress was similarly terse. She never smiled at us at all until she brought our tab. We spent over $120 on just the two of us, so it's not like we were a small tab, and anyway, they should be polite no matter what. But she didn't seem very friendly at any point during dinner."

"Rustic (dare I say rough) looking building in a town that's no more than a wide spot in the road! But what a great place for a wonderful meal. I expected burgers or typical diner food, but that was SO wrong! Great prime rib, wonderful salmon, chicken prepared in unexpected but tasty ways. And a decent wine list. If you're visiting Winter Park, CO to ski, take the extra time to come down the road to the Tabernash Tavern!"

"Our server was disengaged from the start, and when my mom complained that her coc-a-vin was nothing like traditional (the chicken was clearly roasted not braised) he shrugged and unapologetically said "I described it to you". It was clear that her feedback - that it should have a different name since it diverged so dramatically from the classic French dish- was not going to be passed on to the chef, and he didn't even say "I'm sorry you were disappointed." Our other two meals were good (meatloaf) and fine (steak), but we won't be returning because of the server's attitude. Rustic doesn't need to be rude."

"This is not a place for penny-pinchers; Two good meals and a good bottle of wine will push you over $125. That being said, it's worth it - I can vouch for the Paella and my wife for the eggplant. Most of the seating was in a well-appointed common area - the tables weren't close together but no conversation could be completely private. Our server had two other tables of larger groups to cover so she couldn't give us the attention she wanted to (apologized twice), but the owner (co-owner?) covered nicely for her. The building itself is well-restored and there are many antique decorations - many of them railroad-related. We enjoyed ourselves - a fine dining experience in a unique venue."

"This was my second trip to the Tabernash Tavern. It's a bit off the beaten path, located in a very small community not far from Winter Park CO. They have a very interesting menu, which appears to be updated frequently, and a pretty darn decent wine list. I had a wild game meat loaf, which was very good. I was with a group of 7, and everyone enjoyed their meals. The menu had items suited to both normal and adventurous eaters. I'd say if you're in the area, check it out. It's a small place, so during high season or on weekends I'd suggest a reservation."

"The paella was outstanding and the special (coq au vin) was very good. The bread was incredibly delicious (even one of us who rarely eats bread wolfed it down)! The soup was wonderful, as it always is, but it was served lukewarm. The wait staff here is attentive and pleasant and they they don't hover. In our opinion, this is the best restaurant in the Fraser Valley."

"My third time here. Last two times were wonderful. This time the food was great, but the hostess was grumpy and the waitress wasshort-tempered. She was actually caught rolling her eyes as she walked away! Something must have been in the air that evening! Also, the staff began moving tables and chairs around while we were still eating. Making all sorts of scraping on the wood floor noise. We couldn't even hear each other. One of the girls in my group finally asked them if they can do this later. The bar tender was very friendly and funny. Great guy!"

"My wife and i ate diner with another couple on 2/5 & 2/7 while on ski vacation. Food was above avg both nights and way above what we expected to find in the area. The beet salad and short ribs were outstanding. All steaks were very good. First night service was wonderful, ask for Enrika if she's working, she really made everyone feel very welcome and valued. P.S. - Visit the Devil's Thumb Ranch restaurant ($$$) if you get the chance when in the area."

"Food here was very good. I had the lamb chops and my girlfriend had some ahi tuna dish. We had game sliders (venison, boar, antelope) as an appetizer which were delicious. Unfortunately, when spending that kind of money you hope for better service. Very dismissive and unattentive waitress. Did not really care about serving us. The female busser, however, was delightful and sweet and we tipped nicely with the the hopes she got some of the tip. We don't expect exemplary service but at least don't make us feel like we are bothering you when we ask for a glass of wine."

"Other than the nice decor and our friendly waiter, I was disappointed by a few things. The hostess started off making a bad impression by swearing at the open table reservation computer multiple times and was obviously stressed out and that didn't really set a good tone. Our table in the back room next to the wall was FREEZING, so I had to eat with my coat on. The wedge salad was good, but the paella was pretty awful as everything other than the scallops was overcooked beyond rubbery. Wine by the glass was just average. At that point we figured we'd cut our losses and skip desert. I could have easily overlooked the hostess behavior and the freezing temperatures if the food was better, and it should have been at those prices."

"Expen$ive. $$$ food was good. But I feel for what we received it was overpriced. Nothing elaborate or melt in your mouth to die for. Also a little ticked that my daughter was served plain old Kraft macaroni. & cheese from a box for her kids meal. ESP when they charged $8.00 for it. Really expected some yummy dish from such a "nice" restaurant."
