"I came here for Mother's Day lunch around 3 PM, so I had made a reservation to be safe. I got here about 15 minutes late, but the place still had some open tables, so the reservation wasn't even needed probably. The waiter was friendly & helpful in deciding what to order. It was mostly tables of 4 or less from what I could see. We ordered the french onion soup, the shaking filet mignon salad, salt & pepper fried calamari, the peppercorn pork loin, & the beef short rib. Out of all the dishes, the 1 I highly recommend is the shaking beef salad. Amazing! I would also probably stick with the tapas, which seemed better overall than the entrees out of what we had. The calamari could have used a little more flavor, but the texture was perfect."

"Being gluten sensitive, I was pleased to find out that half of the dishes on the menu can be made gluten-free. We ordered the fresh crab meat salad (special), the shaking filet mignon and the shrimp and scallop coconut curry. All three were absolutely delicious! Simple, fresh, flavorful, exotic, lightly cooked and well presented, the way I like my food to be prepared.
We ordered a glass of Merlot from Napa, which we did not like much. It tasted more like a Cabernet, strong in alcohol and not very subtle. The decor is modern, zen and trendy. The bill was quite decent for a tapas place. Service was prompt and professional.

"Great creative small plates made it easy to mix and match and try a lot of things. The filet mignon carpaccio was out of this world; only the spring rolls were a little dull. Atmosphere left a bit to be desired, the decor was a bit funky and eclectic, not really in a good way. Still, the food more than made up for it. Will be back."

"Third time here. Loved everything we ordered but two items could be removed and not missed, the spring rolls were nothing memorable except that my husband referred to them as supermarket quality. Also the pork dish was terribly dry. The flavor was there and it could be a good dish except that you really have to be careful to not over cook the pork, you loose the flavor and richness it has. Our waitress was a little behind on refills (especially since it all came from the bar you'd think that they would be on it). We ordered twice and it came out as expected but expected a little more service. Overall, it was a good experience and I would recommend...quail, filet salad, for sure EGGPLANT and tofu side dishes. Will go back again soon!!"

"Food is good, but felt rushed by the wait staff. We felt like they want us to finish quickly so they can serve the next round of Valentine's Day customers. We would have liked for them to not come over every 2 minutes to ask us if we are ready to order. We just wanted to relax and unwind. At the end, they gave us the check without even us asking. I've never been do a restaurant where they offer to give us the check."

"My first time here and I highly recommend it. We ordered a bunch of small plates and everyone was delicious but I would say the crispy quail was #1. The service was outstanding and the server prioritized the plates perfectly and paired them with the appropriate wine selections at the time the two groupings were brought to the table."

"WOW! The food was amazing. So was the service. Location is easy in downtown Walnut Creek. I highly recommend! But leave your kids at home. This restaurant has a lovely trendy, adult feel."

"The service was friendly and attentive but there was a problem with the kitchen staff as the other couple with us received their food 10 minutes before we did. We watched as they ate and they were almost finished when our food finally arrived. Not a comfortable situation. The food tasted good although our vegetarian dishes didn't strike me as any different than many other places offer, but the presentation was very nice. I feel you are paying for the ambiance which feels vibrant and modern. If that is important to you then I would recommend Vanessa's Bistro 2."

"The food was excellent. There were 4 of us and we chose 8 dishes and ate family style. The Shakin' Filet salad was great. The clay pot chicken was my favorite. The salmon and tuna poke was very tasty too. Most impressive was our waiter. He put the wine list together so he knew every detail of each wine. He was friendly and always there when we needed him. Great dining experience!"

"The hostess was very rude. She said they did not have my reservation. I told her I made it on Open Table. She said "Well I dont have anything here under your name" and then proceeded to ignore me. I knew my friend would have her blackberry when she came, so I informed the hostess, I would show her our confirmation email when my friend arrived. She said, "oh, where there is some "girl" waiting in the back you can go look. Our system closes out reservation when one person in party checks in" I said, "where is the back? I have never been here before...." Horrible way to start the evening. She was very rude and had no custumer service at all. The service once we were seated was great. Waitress was exceptional."

"went on a friday at 6:20. Made reservations and you should as space is limited. Bar scene was nice, wine and cocktail list is great. The tapas that we had were all full of wonderful flavors and perfect size. Beet salad, salmon pad thai, any of the carpacio's and the tuna poke. I didn't have time to try out the dessert and didn't notice, but for sure will try next time, if it is as good as the food...I can't wait! The service was good and the atmosphere was fun and up beat! I personally wouldn't take the kids. To enjoyable as an adult date night spot. I am a mother of two, so i'm being honest."
