"The food is pretty good but nothing to write home about. I wasn't a fan of the Caesar Salad. It was fine but I've had better. The bread was mediocre. At an italian restaurant I expect my bread to be crusty and come with some olive oil. This was basically white bread that came with a tub of butter. The service was great and they have a nice selection of wine and beer. My actual pasta was fine but it's about what you'd get at Olive Garden."

"We enjoy the dining atmosphere and the quality service. It is a place for special occasions and they don't sing "Happy Birthday" to you! The "Butcher Cut" steak and the Salmon are good choices, depending on your likes. We look forward to our next visit and recommend Chianti to our friends."

"The family will plan the special night at some place in Minneapolis or St. Paul but I can trump it! I want chianti grill. One for service second for food and ambience. Libby the bartender is by far the best most personable women I have met. There is also a number of servers that make every dinning experience special! They are never annoyed when we bring out high energy child and they make us feel we are the only table.
I think the other server I need to mention is an Ashley?! Blond sweetest thing ever!"

"A friend and I decided to meet for brunch to celebrate our birthdays. We were seated immediately, since we had a reservation which I would strongly recommend. Our server was there immediately and took our drink order as we headed for the brunch. There is not a huge variety of hot items, eggs benedict, sausage, bacon, scrambled eggs but there is an enormous selection of deserts..... cakes, bars, cookies, pies, sweet rolls etc.!!! Most of the food was delicious. If you are dieting though I would not suggest this place for brunch;)"

"Upon arriving we found out there had been a misunderstanding concerning the reservation. We had two small children which had been written into the notes, but in the number of diners. The manager was notified and he resolved it quickly to our satisfaction and theirs. The food was very good, and our waitress very attentive, even with the smaller children which many times can be a problem. When one dines in an upscale restaurant with smaller children, it is always a concern as to how welcome they are. Chianti Grill welcomes them and treats them very nicely."

"From the reviews and a friend's recommendation, we were expecting great service and excellent food. Disappointed on both accounts. We had a reservation, but were seated 20 minutes after our reserved time - As if we didn't have a reservation. What's the point? The buffet was poorly set up - encouraged one long line, instead of multiple stations. It was poorly attended - A young boy was touching all of the cookies for about five minutes without a staff (or parent/guardian) saying anything. Gross."

"My husband and I were celebrating our anniversary. I asked for a nice place to sit... we were put at the booth closest to the kitchen. Needless to say, not very romantic. One other thing... a dessert menu! Understanding cost, options and so forth is important to customers. Having to ask the price and details could be uncomfortable for some.

"We decided to try Chianti Grill since we drove past it so many times. We began our meal with a server recommended glass of Sangria which was the worst sangria we've ever tasted -- Took about 4 sips and then asked the server to clear it as we switched to a more safe choice - wine. Then continued with the calamari which was under-seasoned and rubbery. Our entree was ribeye steak which was of less than good quality beef which we asked for it to be medium and it was definitely "well." Along with this, our steak was served with fresh vegetables, but the vegetables had a non-fresh taste with them. Finally, I do give them good marks for our dessert. -- For the price, the food was not good. Our service was non-existant as well."

"I took my wife out to another restaurant for our anniversary. At the conclusion of our dining experience she said " This was terrible. I give this date an F. You will have to do better." For my "redo" I brought her to the Chianti Grill. The service was wonderful, the food outstanding, and the people watching was great as it was prom night. "I was very disappointed with the food I received for this late afternoon dinner. I ordered a steak with vegetable medley. The steak was tasteless and very hard to chew. The vegetables were very hard, as if they only dropped them in boiling water and took them out right away, so I could not eat all of them; the asparagus was raw and stringy to eat.
My husband ordered a hamburger and he stated it was very boring and not very good.
My daughter ordered a cheese pizza and the crust was burnt.

"A very pleasant experience. Nice atmosphere, mostly all booths. The food is very well prepared, service excellent. Despite it being a busy Saturday night, the noise was muted by good acoustics and the dining spots being well separated. That made it easy for my hard of hearing friend and I to converse and hear the waitress. Superb wine choices and recommendations. "I was a little nervous going in so casually dressed (nice jeans and dress shirt) but quickly realized it does seem more like a mid-scale restaurant. The decor and image is very upscale, but there were many families with (well-behaved) kids and people dressed very casually. For the menu prices it seems a bit of a letdown in ambiance, but I'm not a high-class type of diner anyway, so I felt comfortable, though it wasn't exactly an intimate/romantic feel either. So just a 'warning' for anyone who is expecting a "fine dining" experience, you may want to head downtown Minneapolis. "I honestly can't remember the last time we have had such fantastic service at a restaurant! Our waiter was lovely, and attentive. He made suggestions for every order and was spot on with them. He kept our water glasses full and was right on top of every course. The meal was delicious... I am so glad we chose Chianti Grill for my birthday celebration!"

"My wife and I have come to this resturant more than any other south of the river. We have been given stellar service with incredible staff that take time to listen and are very knowledgeable. Twice we have come for our anniversary, and we have celebrated Mother's Day, our birthdays and even have brought guests to share the experience. The staff have demonstrated they care for your experince, and desire you to return again. The food has been top notch, from the crab cakes, to the fish, and they have given me new ways to enjoy steak. We have visited during brunch, and were amazed at the selection, quantity, and as always the quality of their selections. On our second visit, we had the sommlier spend time explaining the qualities of wine."

"Food here is always excellent. Unfortunately the service does not match the food. We initially ordered a bottle of wine, a half hour after we ordered our dinner the bread arrived and salad was 15 minutes after that. I had indicated on the reservation we were there to celebrate my daughters birthday. Not only was this never acknowledged by any of the staff, the waiter never even asked us if we wanted desert, just brought the check after he cleared our dinner plates. We decided to go elswhere to celebrate with cake and coffee. It will be a while before we ever go back"

"we were there for my wifes 60th birthday,party of eight, all was well except for the birthday girls dinner. she ordered seafood cantalonie (sp) which she has ordered often. the meal was too salty. she tried eating it for lunch the next day,threw it away. she would have said something that evening but did'nt want to complain in front of our large group. this is our first bad experience with Chianti Grill, you still remain our #1 choice for dinner."
