When you walk through the shadowed glass doors of Talulla's, an instant transformation begins to occur. Your mind and body begin to relax. Your ears pick up on the eclectic mix of music. Your eyes wonder around the walls, decorated in Turkish rugs; then the ceilings, scattered with warm, unique lighting pieces; then the floors... the dark, hardwood floors; and finally, across the plush seating areas, disguised by cushions and pillows and fabric leisurely draped around the frames.
"All of the requests made online were carried out perfectly -- from the special seating in the booth with curtains, to the champagne brought immediately to the table in celebration of my boyfriend's birthday, to the lovely dessert on the house. Perfect evening and wonderful food -- authentic in every way!"

"I travel and eat out. I like Turkish food and always look for a Turkish restaurant. I've discovered Talulla's few years ago. I don't get to travel to Chapel Hill that much but I wish I can more often, because in my opinion it is one of the best Turkish restaurant in the states."

"We enjoyed this restaurant and were sat down easily after booking a reservation, although it wasn't too busy for a Saturday night. Food was authentic and very good."

"We hosted an exchange student from Turkey last year and dined at several Turkish restaurants in the area to learn about and enjoy Turkish cuisine. Talulla's is the best. The food is delicious. The bread is wonderful. We enjoy sidewalk dining and sitting in the window alcove. The service is always great. We just dined there to celebrate my birthday."

"Awesome food, but the experience was dampened by our service. We went with a large party, and our server seemed overwhelmed. Took our order first then disappeared and brought our dinner out without taking anyone else's order. We ate a good 30 minutes before others ordered! Took some wine orders then left but then left without getting the whole table. This place is not good for groups! But the food was delicious. We might do a date night instead next time."

"I took my college son this time so we could catch up and it was a perfect atmosphere with delicious food. He was actually quite talkative and forthcoming about his life. Thank you, Talulla's!"

"Wonderful use of spices and thoughtful presentations. With two dining, started with the sampler platter of cold mezzes with their bread plate and dipping sauce of red pepper puree, olive oil and spices, and a glass of wine each. Intended to move on to a main dish but were to full to do so. Definitely want to return to try more of their offerings."

"I have dined at Talulla's three times, and every time has been outstanding.
My husband and I love the bread dip so much the waiter told us how we could make it at home. The service is impeccable, they know their menu very well and can always be trusted to recommend a dish if you can't choose from the wide selection.
The food is always a good quantity but not so much where you feel bad for leaving some on your plate. Perfectly cooked and presented, this is fast becoming our go to place with friends. The cocktails add that little bit extra to make it a fun night!"

"Quality and portions very good. I have never had Turkish food before so have nothing to compare with this food. I found the food to be very good with different flavor profile to anything I have had before. I would definitely return."

"We had lunch and enjoyed the food and atmosphere. Good for something different and staff described menu well. Enjoyed the booth by the window for the view of Franklin Street. Was quiet when we were there for an early lunch."

"Talulla's is a Turkish Delight, from the mezze to the baklava. A greeting of "Merhaba" hello, It was as if we were in Istanbul, then our group of 8 was seated in one of the two front bay window tables, sectioned off by harem like drapery and surrounded by cushioned seats, and kilim pillows. WE began our daughter's birthday celebration with a cold appetizer tray, followed by hot appetizers- sigara boregi (cigar borek)and manti-meat filled dumplings in a yogurt, garlic sauce, larmacon-a pizza-like dough with a spicy meat sauce. Although this would have been enough for a meal, we did order entrees and desserts. We were served in a Mediterranean calm style, with enough time between courses to converse and enjoy the evening"

"We went for dinner, the portions were good but the food seemed overpriced. The mezzes were great, we shared a lamb entree that tasted good. The dessert was the highlight and so was the coffee. Not a bad place to dine if you are in a group but it can be a tad bit noisy if you hope to have an intimate dinner."

"Middle Eastern food is one of my favorites. Perhaps Turkish food is somewhat different but I found myself wishing there were more garlic/oomph in the food. Otherwise, it was a perfectly nice dinner."

"The service was the only downside. Not that the server was rude, just seemed very busy. Every item we ordered took a good amount of time to get to the table and the timing of the deliveries was way off. However the food was great! I recommend the meat assortment dish."

"For the web site and outside, the restaurant gives off the vibe of a warm venue to savor a culinary trip to another continent.
In person we found:
-table spacing is too tight to allow non-distracted conversation. -the prices are high compared to the serving size and quality.
Most restaurants make a choice between client volume and revenue per client. It seems Talulla's is attempting to do both, which leads to a bad deal for the customer."

"This was my second trip to Talulla's and it once again didn't disappoint. Not the typical, trendy "middle-eastern" fare, but unique, if impossible to pronounce dishes. Very helpful waitstaff, though strong accents make understanding exactly what the dishes will be a bit challenging, adding to the fun. Affordable, and at least seemingly very authentic. A bit crowded, but overall a very good experience."

"We really enjoyed Talulla's for restaurant week. I'm normally really picky, but was trying to branch out. We went with another couple and everyone literally loved everything we had. Even with it being a restaurant week fixed menu, there were several (good) vegetarian options. None of us thought we had any room left for desserts, but only 1 of the 4 came home with us. As someone who's trying to venture into new foods and tastes, I found everything we had excellent. This is definitely a restaurant we will be going back to. Also, I had NO idea I actually liked baklava! Their baklava was amazing!"

"We discovered Talulla's during Triangle Restaurant Week. We had a great meal at a very reasonable price, and we will definitely be back soon. What a beautiful dining room hung with vibrant-colored carpets and paneled in warm wood. The service was friendly and attentive. Best baklava ever."

"Great atmosphere. We went for the special fixed price Triangle Restaurant Week menu. The mezzas and desserts were very good. I was disappointed in the tilapia, but my friend enjoyed the Sultan's Delight. I was expecting a lighter red wine sauce, but it was more of a tomato based sauce, and the spinach was oily and did not complement the heavy phyllo wrap."
