At MP Taverna, Chef Michael Psilakis introduces his award-winning Greek-American fare to Long Island’s North Shore. Located in the heart of Roslyn, NY, MP Taverna is a modern interpretation of a traditional Greek taverna. Open for Lunch, Dinner & Weekend Brunch, MP Taverna is an exciting addition to the Long Island dining scene. The ground floor houses the main dining room & separate bar, while the second floor is perfect for private dining & events. The dinner menu allows diners to order from an assortment of meze, salads, entrees, & plat du jours. Meze options include Meatballs, Octopus with Mediterranean chickpea salad, & Trio of Greek Spreads, highlights from the salad selection include the MP Salad with lettuce, cucumber, tomatoes, olives, onions, & feta. "The food is fine but the portions are very small and not what you would expect from a Greek taverna. It is also way overpriced...$15 for a mediocre souvlaki? I was charged $28 for a 4oz piece of fish which was slothered in butter. Very disappointing."

"There has been a recent turnover in staff ... all new faces! They seem to be trying hard so hopefully they will keep the high standards that have been set. Happy Hour on the deck ends at 6, unlike the bar, which ends at 6:30, so be sure to get there early."

"3rd time having dinner at MPT and consistently good. Ordered a specialty drink and my glass came out with a huge lipstick mark but they apologized and gave me a new drink. In my opinion they should have comped the drink, its not like I'm at Fridays... My friends and I shared the beef sliders and they were great and came with 2 good sauces on the side. Our waiter was a bit chatty but cant fault him for the effort. I ordered the branzino and it was good, my 2 other friends both ordered the steak and were happy. We shared a halva brownie for dessert, when they ordered it I made a face but it was delicious. Overall good experience. Would come back again."

"This was our second time back. Food is excellent and different. The grilled octopus chick pea salad is a must! We also tried the bulgar salad which was delicious. I had the branzino again and it was just as good. They have a rooftop outdoor seating area which was being reserved for a big party. I would love to try it the next time. Unfortunately we were put at a back table by the kitchen which was not very atmospheric but the food made up for that. The service was fine but this was also the second time the appetizer came out and the entree followed shortly after. Next time I will tell them to slow it down even though they didn't rush us out. I highly recommend this restaurant ."

"There were two of us. We ordered Greek Meatballs and the MP Salad for appetizers. Both were excellent. For main dishes, we ordered Lamb Shank and Mixed Grill. Lamb Shank was perfect. Mixed Grill included two excellent sausages but was dominated by two large dried out, tough and not flavorful pieces of chicken breast. Inedible. Threw chicken away when we brought leftovers home. I think there was supposed to be another kind of meat in the dish, but I could not find it. We did not have dessert. Overall, a great place. If I go again, I now know what NOT to order. Anything with chicken in it."

"Skipped the octopus salad for the first time but suggested it to my dining partner who had never tried it. He thanked me! I ordered the Simply Grilled Branzino with Tomato Salad. The preparation, presentation and taste were beyond my expectations. The service is always attentive and I never feel rushed. I always recommend MP Taverna to friends and I wil continue to be a fan!"

"We really enjoyed our dinner. The food was very good with exceptionally fresh fish. Our only complaint was that the service was not as attentive as you might like. This is our second time at the Roslyn location. However, the service during our first visit was excellent. We will definitely go back again."

"The food was good for the price point, but the service was in attentive at best. 3 of us ordered the same meal & they still managed to put the wrong food in front of us. We could not understand the waiter when he spoke & the noise level made it difficult to converse. We had a reservation for 7 pm & needed to change it at the last minute & we were accommodated without any problem. We were very appreciative."

"We have been to MP Taverna three times. We enjoy the food and that part is consistent - octopus salad is a must. However, this last time the service was terrible. Too bad since it was Mother's Day. I understand restaurants are busier on such days, but a good manager plans ahead and makes sure the service personel are not rude and inexperienced...particularly on Mother's Day. Upsetting enough to stay away for a while, at the very least."

"Wanted a quiet evening out with my wife to discuss a few personal matters. Was sat on the first level next to the bar in one of 5 "deuces" that they have on this level. Immediately asked to be changed and was told by a fairly uncaring host simply no. (They do have upstairs seating, she never looked). My dinner, although quite good was ruined by the sounds of the people next to us and the behinds of their waiters sprawled across the table. Manager didn't really care. In fact he went to all the tables that weren't two to see how their meal was. They need to remove one of the five squished tables. If not, don't go unless you are a party of three or more. It's a good place but atmosphere is important so I would not go back as a 2."

"This was my second time at MP Taverna and I enjoyed it as much as the first time. Our party of 3 shared the octopus and meatballs as appetizers and both were top notch.
I had the branzino entree - which I had had before - was so good both times.
It's a fun atmosphere, and the wait staff is excellent. Oh and desserts were delicious too - we shared the sorbet and a parfait of some sort.
The wine list wasn't bad, but since I'm into wine, I'd like to see it expanded. It's fine if they don't."

"Had a great Mother's Day Dinner with the Wife and my 11 yr old son,
Very reasonable prix fixe with great selections. Service was good and the food Outstanding.

"It's rare that bad service can ruin a meal, especially when the food itself is pretty good. But that's what happened at MP Taverna. I won't bore you with the details of my visit there -- I'll just say I got the distinct impression that the staff here couldn't care less whether they were providing an enjoyable dining experience for their customers. I would not recommend this place at all."

"We come from Ct. to meet friends in Long Island. This restaurant fit the bill. The whole roasted Red Snapper for two was just delicious. ... as were all the sides. the bartender poured a really nice drink. Service was good... and enjoyed the overall experience very much. "Because the tables were so close together the waiter kept touching the person in the chair on the outside on the shoulder when he leaned in to talk, or to put something on the table. When the dishes were removed from the appetizer and the shared dish both times my fork was picked up, and we had to ask for a new one. I had to wait several minutes after I received the main course for a fork.
The food was fantastic."

"The food was great, very flavorful. Their sangria was okay, tasted like club soda was in it which waters it down and isn't a great. The service was my biggest issue. They served entrees before we finished our appetizers and tried to pull away our dessert when there was clearly more left. Some better trained servers and stronger drinks will do for much better."

"What an amazing experience here. This restaurant has to be one of the best overall dinners we've had lately. Very diverse and fun atmosphere with attentive and pleasant servers. We tried the Branzino fish entree and the lamb shank. LAMB SHANK!!!!!!! Do yourself a favor and order this dish. Wow!! It comes with lamb jux with orzo and carrots. Not pricey at all and such a friendly atmosphere...we were checked on by management about 4 times to make sure we were enjoying out meal. TRY IT!"

"Everything was terrific : food, service including helpful menu recommendations. Wait staff very attentive and happy to be there to make your meal enjoyable. We were very pleased. It was our 41 st anniversary and I happened to mention it. My husband and I were sent complimentary champage flutes. Portions were very fair, not tiny "price fixed" sample size portions. We like to eat Mediterranean food and were not disappointed one bit.
We will return."

"Overall, very good food, beautifully presented. I like the setting -- it's a handsome space. Music is really loud.
Restaurant fell down in the details of the service. Appetizers came before the drinks. Nearly finished with the appetizer when one drink arrived. Had to tell the server to cancel my cocktail. Got tired of waiting for it.
And when the appetizer arrived, I asked the server to bring me a fork. (For some reason, there was no fork wrapped in the napkin, only a knife.) The server never returned; had to ask another staff member walking by. Main course was served -- again, no silverware. Also, server did not seem very well informed about the menu. Is it too much to expect that the server be prepared to answer questions?"

"The "dips" appetizer is so good, but very filling so pace yourself. The octopus was very tender. Lamb shank with orzo was cooked perfectly. The paella with orzo was also delicious. The hamburger was pink, just like we asked for. Victoria, our server, was wonderful. We're just trying to figure out our next reason for going back."

"MKP Taverna provides excellent food, impeccable service and perfect hospitality (a quality that is missing from most restaurant experiences) on a regular basis. We are frequent customers and we enjoy a variety of their dishes -- especially the grilled fishes -- which are always tasty, perfectly cooked and complemented by great side dishes and veggies. "The food and service is excellent and we can't wait to go back. The mussels appetizer was very tasty and perfectly prepared. I had the lamb chop special and it was so delicious as was the caponata served on the side. My husband had the lamb shank with orzo that was also very good. I would have tried the dips with pita bread but thought that would be too much food. I'm surprised they served Tuscan style bread (which was excellent) with olive oil. It just doesn't seem to go with the rest of the menu. I would much prefer the pita instead. But I guess they have to make money some how. There is an extensive wine list but we had a glass of white sangria that was pretty good."

"We went for our anniversary and it was a very special night thanks to the staff. Out waitress wished us happy anniversary when we sat down and was very attentive and sweet. The service was excellent. The food was wen better. My wife was drooling while eating the dried fruit salad. I had the hangar steak and sausage for my entree and it was delicious. Cooked exactly how I wanted. My wife's rainbow trout was moist and delicious as well. Dessert was fantastic as well. Parfait for me and grilled pineapple drizzled with honey and feta cheese for her. The mixed drinks were great too. Overall, M.P. Taverna lives up to the competition from the other restaurants in the family. We love Kefi and Mythos, now we love M.P. Taverna too!"

"This is our second visit to this restaurant. During our first visit,the service was very good and the seating arrangements were comfortable. Although we had reserved a table for 4 nearly a week ahead, the restaurant appeared to be very overbooked. We were seated in a corner of a very narrow room. One member of our party was frequently asked to move in order for the table in the adjacent corner to be served. This was not only inconvenient to this guest but embasassing as we had recommended this restaurant."

"I am a regular of sorts here and for the first time I did not have the MP salad ( which is always very tasty, but make sure they use Romaine HEATS only, not outer dark, brown leaves!); had the pita and dips which were really good (left my doggie bag behind!!)and my friend had the crab coquettes also REALLY good; currant sorbet for dessert was different and good; all the servers are good, but we had a young woman who had just moved üp"from hostessing to server and she was so wonderful; great"personality, great attention; thank you! "Excellent experience, clean modern decor. Nice touch food served in cast iron modulars.
Mixed grill was delicious, meat was prepared simply with all very moist and nice plating.
Smashed fries were satisfying. Tomato salad was very well dressed and a good size portion, crumbled feta was creamy, not dry. We were impressed with their controlled use of salt. The pikilia was enjoyable, particularly the chick pea dip,however the tsatziki was on the bland side even though the yogurt had a lovely thick consistently and very fresh. I would prefer it more greek in nature with the addition of more raw garlic. Superb beer menu, the Blue Moon on tap was crisp and cold with an orange slice. Deconsructed bakalava was crunchily creative."

"Orata (Dorada) fish is definitely better than Branzino because it is whole, butterflied and cooks better. The dishes were brought out quickly. The bulgur salad was dense and flavorful. I would recommend the dressing on the side. Octopus with chickpeas was very tender with the best grilled flavor. The wine list is extensive so you can find your seasonal favorite or funky favorite. The crowd is both young couples and mature, business crowd as well."
