""I love the relaxed feel of this place. I definitely would return to try more dishes. The crab cakes were amazing and my blackened steak was amazing. "Had dinner a year ago here, wonderful service and delicious meal; returned with party of five, not wonderful. Server was completely out of her element, did not know anything about the wine special they were offering other than "rose"; food auctioned off when delivered i.e. "who had the salmon ...", food quality poor - shaved parm with no taste, vegetables over cooked in too much oil, salmon that should have been sent back as it was a charred mess (our guest was too nice to complain), carpaccio with same tasteless shaved parm with too much oil. Space is very nice and comfortable but the quality of a year ago needs to be brought back."

"Blades is always exceptional but this is one of the best meals we've ever had. Tender, sweet, perfectly prepared wild halibut with a miso glaze. Melt in your mouth succulent lobster tails. Yum! Like happy oral fireworks, that good!"

"Waited over an hour for our food and watched other tables being served who sat after us. The potatoes were flavorless and greasy. Our waiter said at a distance without coming to our table that our meals will be coming shortly. Was he hesitant to come to our table, as to not hear us complain?! I am not sure if it was an oversight by the waiter or the kitchen, either way, it left a horrible first impression. I will never be going back nor will I ever recommend Blades. At minimum I will let everyone know of our poor experience on Mother's Day!"

"If you have tired of green chili cuisine, what better alternative than a lovely bistro meal of steak frites featuring New Mexico beef? Amazing! A charming Southwestern bistro tucked into Placitas's strip mall. Easy to miss off I-25, but a huge mistake to do so."

"This is a corner restaurant at the Merc plaza in Placitas, NM. Placitas is 10 miles or so north of Albuquerque, so you either have to live in or near Placitas or want to drive for this experience. Blades is small inside, but also has several outdoor patio tables if the weather is nice. Food is amazingly good, large wine list but small beer list. It's also not cheap, but worth the price for a special night out."

"We were seated promptly but it was literally 10 minutes before anyone came to our table. We had plenty of time to count and 1/3 of the tables were empty and there were plenty of wait staff - it's not like they were overwhelmed. We were just about to get up and leave when our waiter finally arrived. Too his credit he did apologize for the wait, which was nice, but nevertheless we had been thinking we were invisible for a long time. After our initial lousy impression, the service was good and the food decent. We may return if we are in the area but not worth making a special trip for."

"This restaurant never fails to deliver. The paella and sole dishes this time were over the top excellent. Other favorites are the bistro chicken, roma pasta, salmon, and steak frites. We have gone there ever since it opened and have never been disappointed. Half-price wine night on Wednesday is a great deal, too."

"Many special features above are not rated because this was our first experience here for dinner only. Further - did not mark Kid-Friendly because only one child ( a baby that cried) entered with patrons during our visit. Again - dinner on a Saturday evening and a restaurant that has an evening ambience that does not seem to fit a kid-friendly pizza party. That is not a criticism - rather a statement about the type of restaurant this seemed to me - which for our dinner - was perfect.
Thoroughly enjoyed our dinner and visit - would definitely recommend to others and return ourselves!"

"I really want to go back to Blades Bistro because I didn't order the right thing when our group went last Saturday night. My dinner was good, but it wasn't great, and I think if I went back and ordered something different, it would be great. Everyone in our party (there were 8 of us!) loved the restaurant and the ambiance and the food. I will definitely be going back! And hope to sit at the chef's table next time!"

"I went for my birthday and put it in the request nothing is done for birthdays. The food was very good but the service was a bit lacking. We had to request water refils, drinks were slow in coming and the server walked away in the middle of our order with no explanation."

"We have been to Blades 4-5 times before and always enjoyed the food and had good service. This occasion was to celebrate our daughter's birthday and, fortunately, her dinner was very good. My husband's and my dinners left much to be desired. I had to send my steak back twice and even then it was not cooked to medium-well done as I had requested. Our service was fair and that is being generous. Overall, very disappointing and particularly when we have bragged about Blades food and service to our family and friends."

"Pleasant enough, food quite good, tho not unusual or inspired. For $22 plus entrees, I think they could do a bit better, although they do prepare fish,vegetables & salads v. well. The bread was miscellaneous pieces of unremarkable bread. Service was efficient but not thorough-empty plates were taken away quickly but empty water glasses were never filled.Wine selection limited. Don't order 1/2 carafe of wine: price-wise, you're better off w/ 2 glasses.We were there on a Tuesday night & the place was mostly empty. Weekends I know it is busier and more effort is made by chefs & staff. A nice neighborhood place but not fantastic."

"I discovered this restaurant through Open Table when searching for a fun place to go to for Valentine's Day. Living in Albuquerque, I thought it would be a new experience without having to make the drive to Santa Fe for the adventure. We were kindly greeted by the host, who we later found out is the brother of the chef. Having the family involved, makes it that much more interesting. The wine list was impressive and the waitress was knowledgeable. We didn't have the appetite for a big dinner, so we skipped the appetizer and just ordered an entree. My husband ordered the salmon, and I ordered the scallops w/ risotto. Each dish was distinct and delicious! We want to go back this summer to enjoy the patio."

"Blades Bistro is really a first class Resturant. Food was delicious with upscale flare. You won't be disappointed with tiny portions ether. The dishes served are generous in size, full of robust flavors. What an outstanding choice for a night out!"
