"We arrived at 7PM on a Monday night and there were only 4 or 5 tables with diners. Most of the restaurant was empty but they chose to seat our party of four in a cramped corner. The server was fantastic and very personable. The lemon dressing salard was very good. My daughter had the pasta with peas which was also very good. My sister and I both had the spaghetti with clams. It was overly salty and the clams were very tough. Tasted as if they had been around awhile. Not good. Tiramisu for dessert was outstanding. A mixed bag but not worth $240. Too many other good restaurants in the North End to dine here again. We won't be back."

"Many of the restaurants in the North End are old-fashioned, with tired decor and boring food. Not Vinoteca di Monica! The menu includes some standards, but also interesting possibilities such as gnocchi with boar meat. The pasta is made fresh on the premises. All the food tastes fresh! The full menu (but not the prix fixe menu) is available at brunch, which is nice for those who aren't fond of breakfast food. Our waiter was funny and the service was very good."

"We were celebrating a college graduation. It was an early dinner so the restaurant was quiet. Our server was very good. The food was all very good. I think the price was a bit high for the amount of food but probably in line with the area. This was our second visit and both times we were satisfied with the food. Overall very good but not a WOW."

"I selected this restaurant from open table after reading reviews and was very pleased. We had a reservation but arrived late because of heavy traffic. We were seated promptly and the service was outstanding. The salads were great and there was ample time between courses; we never felt rushed. All of the pasta is homemade. The gnocchi was tasty and my friend enjoyed the pumpkin ravioli!! Not enough room for dessert."

"A small business dinner of 3. Selected based on other open table diner's reviews. Vinoteca is outstanding. I was very please. Reasonable prices for Boston. Excellent presentation and great flavors. We had the lasagna, papperdella and the picatta. All were very well done. I Portions are a good size but not the typical American Italian Supersized portions. All around an excellent choice. Thank you very much!"

"Excellent food, excellent service, and excellent experience. It is very noisy so conversation was difficult. The food was expertly prepared. Try the green spaghetti with turkey meatballs - outstanding!"

"We made a reservation for this restaurant (for 6 people)for my daughter's college graduation celebration. The food was delicious. They have a very large menu and something for everyone. It's on a side street right off of Hanover and around the corner from Mike's and Modern Pastry shops so it's in a great location. The atmosphere was lively and fun. We all ordered pastas for main courses which were tasty. My son ordered mussels which were large and amazing. The appetizers - Bruschetta, grilled eggplant, and calamari were also perfect. If you like high quality Italian food, you will love this place. I know there are many wonderful restaurants in the North End but we were very happy with our choice."

"We were fortunate to get window seats, and our food was delicious. I had the cheese ravioli and my friend had the gnocchi. She told me that it was the best she had ever tasted. Our waiter was pleasant and efficient. It was nice that we could get a reservation as we were going to a show and did not want to risk having to wait for a table. Will definitely return."

"We had salads to start and two special entrees. Everything was excellent. For entrees we had a wild boar ragu on gnocci and a lobster risotto. Really tasty! Our waiter was very helpful in choosing food and wine. They have very nice wines by the glass and we also had a half bottle of Brunello, which the waiter pointed out to us on the last page."

"We had a excellent dinner on a very busy Boston Marathon weekend night. The food was fantastic and the staff were very welcoming. We had a party of 6 but a few arrived late and the staff seated us and never hassled us despite the fact that some of our party arrived 20 minutes late. Service was excellent. We had a great experience."

"The fried artichokes left something to be desired, but the crepe appetizer was amazing and it was some of the best pasta I'd had in the North End. There was a small fork war at my table over sharing the bolognese!"

"We decided to try something new for Restaurant Week, and chose Vinoteca di Monica. SO glad we did! Lovely decor, fairly large, but nicely spread out so you do not feel crowded. Friendly staff. EXCELLENT food, all of it. Highly recommend the Insalata al Limone. The fish of the day was SO good, and beautifully presented. We looked at the dessert menu (a rarity in the North End, where many places direct you to Modern or Mike's. The choices looked interesting, but we were too full. Next time!"

"Very attractive and conveniently located restaurant. Stylish, upbeat and welcoming. Food was delicious and portions were good, but not crazy. Food prices are very reasonable. Would have liked more moderately priced options for wine by the glass. Overall this is my choice for eating when I go to the North End."

"This restaurant was highly recommended by our tour guide. He was quite right, the food, ambiance, service were all first class. We decided to have appetizers as dinner. My wife had bruscio and a lobster salad. She raved about both. I had fired calamari which was very tasty, lightly fried, with a little bite. I also had scallops on lemon slices that were delicious and topped off my meal with an excellent pear salad. We would return when again in Boston."

"Disappointed this visit. The truffles in the pasta were neither fresh nor tasty as they were last time, and for $25 for a small appetizer portion, they surely should have been! The lamb chops were ordered pink but arrived red, and were surprisingly bland, with too little of the tastier balsamic sauce to give them enough flavor. Have had much better lamb chops at Helmand for half the cost.
Companion was happy with her chicken marsala, and her appetizer mushroom crepes were much richer and tastier than my truffle pasta--at half the cost.
Service was attentive as always, and the wine excellent."

"My wife and I ate here on Valentine's Day, and overall had a great experience. The food was delicious, and pretty much priced as expected for the North End. There was a considerable wait however, despite having reservations. It may have been due to overbooking, or simply because it was valentine's day, but we waited over 30 minutes before being seated, and this was with a reservation. Once seated, we were crammed next two three other couples, with maybe six inches between the tables.
I don't know if I would come here again on Valentine's day, since it seems that they are willing to trade a better experience for more customers. However, as long as the restaurant isn't typically packed so densely, I would happily eat here in the future."

"I was on crutches and without asking, the hostess accommodated me by getting me a more open table near the window. It was a service I didn't ask for and would not have expected at such a busy, popular restaurant. They pay attention to detail and it meant a lot to my wife and I. Thank you."

"Food was good, service was very good, we had Matt and he was kind enough to point out that because we were a party of six that the gratuity was included. Not something we've been reminded of too often in the North End."

"A late eve dinner on a cold night, including homemade pasta with great flavor combinations. Interesting specials. The only downer was the waiter, who did not attempt to connect with us in any way. I certainly don't want chummy, but he was almost stand-offish. His tips would improve with a little warmth."

"Great little spot if you're looking for semi-casual dining that's not too expensive for the North End and not a Hanover Street uber-touristy spot.
Had a wonderful catch up dinner with an old friend. We shared a calamari app, the pasta with truffle shavings special, the strawberry tart for dessert and a $40 bottle of wine. I believe the tab ended up somewhere around $120. All food was good (nothing earth shattering) minus the dessert...it came as a recommendation from the server and tasted like it was pulled straight out of a plastic wrapper.
Great service all around. Server was very attentive to our needs to be left alone early on to catch up and then very prompt when we needed our check so the out of town friend could catch her fli"

"Shrimp & lobster risotto was tasty, but not tasty enough for $38. My husband's gnochi with wild boar ragout was excellent and cost $30. Appetizer, crepes with mushrooms, was excellent. We would recommend this restaurant, but with the understanding that everything is very pricey. Bottle of wine was $40 and among the cheapest offered there. Our total bill came to $160 including tip, and we did not have any dessert or coffee."

"Our dining experience here was ok, but not worth the hype that has recently surrounded this place. We had the antipasto and mussels for apps, the antipasto was great, the mussels didn't taste fresh and were a bit fishy. My entree of lobster ravioli was underwhelming...small portion, sauce had a terrible vodka bite to it, and the filling was just ok. Another person in our group got the rabbit ragu where he found bones and cartilage. Gross. The other entrees ordered were salmon and chicken marsala which both diners enjoyed. Our waiter was polite and professional. Espresso's were wonderful and so was our wine. The chickpea spread served with the bread was also great. Our experience here had some pro's and con's...overall average."

"Great visit to the North End, Boston. The food was great, an appetizer of grilled scallops and one of formaggio al forno were delicious. All the pasta is home-made and very tasty. The flour-less chocolate cake was one of the best of that type that I've ever tried. Place gets very busy and a little squeezed for space as the evening progresses. They do have valet parking available out front - big necessity in Boston's North End."

"We are currently trying to eat our way through the North End, one restaurant at a time. Our previous family favorite had been Trattoria di Monicas'. Vinoteca is now our absolute favorite! Best meal by far. Delicious, full of flavor, cooked to perfection! The waiter was wonderful as well- attentive, knowledgeable and friendly. I would be happy to stop going to the remaining restaurants in the North End and just keep going to Vinoteca's!!"
