"I was on a lunch with a potential client. I ordered a steak medium rear but what they brought me was a steak that was well done. Given the situation, I did not think it was appropriate for me to make a fuss and send it back. When a steak house can't cook a steak properly, that's not a good thing!"

"The menu is nice. My favorit is the Cobb salad. This last time I had the halibut. I wish the fish and risotto was seasoned more. Otherwise, nice lunch. I would prefer they serve Sourdough bread instead of the plain bread they serve."

"Expected quality of the food to be commensurate with the price - not so. Closer to home cooking than a great steakhouse. Was surprised by the lack of attention to presentation of food, also, more emphasis on quantity than quality. Much too family-oriented to be "Romantic", "Special Occasion" or "Hot Spot". "This was our fourth dinner at Bob's Chophouse in 5 months. The steaks are great. This time, we went to celebrate my daughter's birthday. Her birthday dessert was terrific. My complaint is our server, who, unfortunately served us the last time we were there. Unlike our busboy, she interrupted us during our meal when she had time to check in on us, and made us feel like we were rude when we asked for butter knives (she told us this was a steak house that uses giant steak knives for butter), and reminded her for the kid's menu. Our busboy waited patiently for breaks in conversation and served us w/ a smile, politely. We live in the East Bay, where steak houses are on par with Bob's, and service is free of the attitude."

"Had Valentine's Day dinner there and got a window seat without even asking for it. Server was polite and knowledgeable, but not annoying. Bread was great, jumbo shrimp cocktail was excellent. My wife had the rib eye and I had the filet mignon. Must say it was one of the tastiest meals I've had. To top it all off, the crem brulee was out of this worls."

"I thought the food here was nice. The portions were a good size, the baked potato was huge, as well as a carrot. The filet mignon I had wasn't as big. I had a dessert, a brownie with ice cream. "I used to be a big fan of the steaks at Bob's, but they are now not much better than the $10 per pound rib eyes and strips I can get at Trader Joe's or CostCo. That might be acceptable for a nice night out in a quiet room, except that the prices are so high ($22.50 for six shrimp, $19.50 for a Manhattan, $13 for onion rings). I had the feeling I get when I'm in a foreign city eating a tourist trap because I don't know any better - except that I was in my own town just blocks away from 25 other very good places that wouldn't cost over $100 a person. The server was very attentive and seemed willing to do whatever she could to make our evening better. But unless there is a huge price adjustment, I won't be going back."

"The steaks here are superb--finest beef prepared exactly to your order.
Spinach salad starter was large and delicious, too.
Bob's signature, large carrot is a nice touch and healthful as well.

Bob's is all about great steak. I've been here 4 times and overall quality has been consistently high.
Wines are pricey, but there are a few very good wines at reasonable prices. Drinking red wine with beef might be especially healthful in addition to being tasty.

Service is competent and very friendly. I found the entire dining experience quite good and would recommend Bob's to steak-lovers."

"This is not an inexpensive restaurant, but it was well worth the price as my entire family enjoyed the dining experience and the meal immensely. The clam chowder soup was excellent as were the salads. The meat was superbly prepared, as the smashed potatoes were tasty. Our server was very attentive. As it was my daughter's birthday, we were surprised not they provide a complimentary dessert as many restaurant do, but they provided a dessert that was large enough to easily satisfy 5 people!"

"We were there for New Year's Eve. The chopped salad and filet mignon were delicious. However, plopped in the center of the plate, between the perfectly cooked steak and baked potato, was their huge "glazed carrot." It was flavored with cinnamon and sugar, and the sauce it was braised in leaked over onto the steak, marring the taste of the grilled steak. In my opinion, it ruined the dish. It made no sense whatsoever. I would go back, but adamantly refuse the carrot!"

"The New York strip was delicious - best steak ever! It was superbly cooked, so tender it melts in your mouth. The drinks were definitely high-end (mojitos $14/ea) compared to having drinks at the Carnelian. The porkchops were seasoned perfectly, not too salty or dry. The experience was awesome & delightful; however, our waiter lacked the drive in customer service. He never came back to check on us, except when it was time to pay. Tacky move for such an elegant spot."

"Went to Bob's for Thanksgiving with a large family group. Usually go for holidays as the restaurant can accommodate large groups in the classy Omni Hotel. Had two elderly people with walkers and there was plenty of room for our entire party. Good bar scene, great drinks. The best steaks - done to perfection and the holiday meal was very good, too. "The food was great as usual. They are always accomodating as usual as a pescatarian. I cannot comment on any fish dishes itself, as a general rule of thumb I do not odrder seafood at a Steakhouse or any primarily meat based restaurant. The Service was wonderful other than the fact that it was a bit slow and our waiter disappeared on numerous occasions, although the general staff was also very helpful and pleasant."

"Fantastic as usual. Every time I get to San Francisco I only eat filet mignon there. In October while attending a convention, I had dinner there 3 out of 5 nights. When someone asked to take me out and where would I like to go, I just called Bobo's and drove over. My favorite SF restaurant.

"I've always had good experiences at Bob's. It's across the street from my office so we go there often for business breakfasts and lunchs. This time wasn't so good. The waiter seemed to forget that we were in our booth, even when we asked for more coffee he disappeared for a while. When it was time to leave and he brought the check, I said to wait a second while I got my wallet out. Instead he walked away and eventually I had to ask our busboy to give him my check and credit card. Given the prices I just expect a better level of service."

We started with a walk to the Ferry Buiding, took BART to the Orpeum Theater and enjoyed Wicked, watched the sun set from Carnelian Room, strolled through China Town,and enjoyed a relaxing and delicious dinner at the Chop House."

"The restaurant is located inside the Omni Hotel which has just been renovated and beautiful. The entire staff are friendly, helpful, and extremely professional.

The food is awesome, from the soup and salad to their steaks. The Sous Chef, Jose Canjura actually visited our table to make sure everything was going well.

Our waiter (Suei aka George) was excellent, friendly, and made our first time dinning at Bob’s Steak House so much fun that we will be back.

If you’re looking for fine dinning this is the place to go. Don’t bother looking at prices, the food, the hotel, and the staff taking care of you is so worth it.

It’s nice to see good customer service and great dinning alive and well at the Omni Hotel. I give this restaurant 5 s"

"The 9 0z. filet mignon was SPECTACULAR. It was absolutely incredible... although I did not care for the glazed carrot. I could have done without it, and the mashed potatoes were to die for! I also very much enjoyed the bread and butter to start, it was fresh and the butter was very good. Service was excellent. Too bad the restaurant does not get the cable car view, only the bar does.. but the window seating was still a treat!"

"Bob's is a fantastic steak house! I should have come sooner! The best part is that they actually have a "chicken-fried steak" that I will need to try out. It's only available for lunch, so I will be coming back! My girlfriend and I enjoyed our meal and we managed to save room for dessert. Since it was her birthday dinner, the staff placed a candle on the banana rum bread pudding! and i didn't have to tell them. They knew from the reservation notes.

Good price for great steak and sides and desserts!"
