"I had dinner here last week while I was in San Francisco. Even though I was expensing the meal for a business trip, I definitely had sticker shock when I looked at the menu. My bill for a glass of wine, the chopped salad, and a 9oz filet was $90 with the tip.
The food was really good. The bread served with dinner is amazing. My only complaint about the food was that the smashed potatoes had way too much butter/cream in them. The steak was cooked perfectly.
The service was good. I rated it 3 stars because I definitely felt that I wasn't getting the same level of service as the tables who weren't dining alone. I rarely saw my server and was instead taken care of primarily by the support staff; this was not the case with other tables."

"I've been going to Bob's for about 13 years for lunch and it's far and beyond my favorite spot. The people are magnificent, the food impeccable, and the ambiance is one of comfort and relaxation. The wait staff are all helpful and friendly, including the busboys and host/hostess. I can't recommend it highly enough."

"We surprised them showing up 1 hour early for our reservation, but they seated us with no fuss. As tourists, we were a bit underdressed compared to other diners but at no point were we made to feel uncomfortable about that. As I would expect in a "classy" place, any server or staff member in the vicinity would do what was necessary for us... we didn't have to wait for our usual server to pay us attention. My son's filet mignon was perfect. My bone-in rib-eye was cooked exactly to my taste, was tender and flavorful, but had more sinew and edge gristle than I would have expected. Side dishes and accompaniments (glazed carrot, mashed potatoes, etc.) were very good. Our waiter suggested an excellent red wine."

"Bob's Steak and Chop House in San Francisco, after being on our dining list for many years, is still an EXCELLENT choice. The steaks, glazed carrots, and pan fried potatoes with onions are still very delicious. The only issue that prevented giving a five star rating was the triple chocolate ice cream that I ordered. You could tell that the ice cream itself was fairly good. However, it had hundreds (it seemed) of little, extremely hard, so-called chocolate chips that got in the way of being able to taste the ice cream. They were more like little dark brown rocks than chocolate chips. I do not advise ordering this dessert. I also made the mistake of ordering TWO scoops, so I was immersed in trying to pick out these little rocks."

"Bob's steak&chop house is incredible!! The service was impeccable and the food was so incredibly good it is beyond explainable. My wife and I had our 6th and 9th year anniversaries at Bob's and they are our most memorable for the setting and the food. The bread and clam chowder were superb!! and the steak!!! My wife had the ribeye and I had the Kansas City strip and they were both cooked to perfection!! Two thumbs up for Bob's and their staff."

"We used to live in Dallas, and loved going to Bob's for special occasions. We were happy to see that when we were vacationing in San Francisco, that there was a Bob's there as well! The food and wait staff were excellent. We were sad that they weren't serving their seafood bisque the evening we ate dinner there, though. :( That item should be on their permanent menu!!!"

"My wife and I came to S.F. with our 13 year old daughter and 16 year old son. We asked a close friend who comes to S.F. weekly for business for a recommendation for a good steak house. He suggested Bob's Steak & Chop House.I'll have to say that it was good. It was NOT great. We all enjoyed our meals, but nothing in particular was a "must have." In contrast, the four of us had dinner at Emeril's in Vegas - essentially all the same meals, in fact (2 filets for the ladies and two bone in rib eyes for my son and I). Personally, the steaks at Emeril's are STILL talked about as is the salted bread they give. Only time will tell if the meal at Bob's will come up in the future, but unlikely if I had to guess.GOOD but not GREAT for $3"

"I've been to Bob's many times, for both lunch & dinner. Good food, but somewhat limited choices. This visit was a Birthday lunch for a friend. The staff did a great job of making him feel special.
Only problem we had is that our waiter was not quite "with it". He forgot items that we ordered. This is the only time, out of more than 2 dozen visits, that the service has been less than "spot on".
I will be back again, without a doubt."

"This was the second time having a meal here. We both ordered the Rib Eye steak one 16oz and one 12oz. Although both were very tender, one had a lot of fat in it and was not cooked medium (just pink) it was more of a rare also. Since we were going to a show we didn't have the time to send it back. I went ahead and ate it as I am not quite as picky with the redness of the meat. We were disappointed with the steak being so fatty as for 45.00 it should be much more high quality. We will go to a different steakhouse in the future."

"It's a hotel restaurant with pricing like Ruth Chris, but it fell in comparison. The home made pickles at the table were bland, my steak I could have cooked better at home. The salmon was delicious, the ahi and scampi were mediocre and over seasoned. The sides were good. Three stars. Would never go back. Server was very polite but not polished and unattentive. Being a server in my earlier days, she could have sold us wine and much more. The atmosphere was beautiful, sad because it could be such a great place. Not a place for foodies. I went back home to New Mexico and had just as Mediocre dinner as well. Expected better in the city by the Bay."

"This was my second visit to Bob's.We were seated in a alcove with two booths. The server must have not notice we were seated because it must have been 10 minutes before someone came to our table.
The alcove must be near the kitchen or wait station because there was a pounding noise that accrued while we were eating that shook the both. I suggest that you do not sit in this area.

"Overall it was outstanding. It was quiet when we (5 of us) first were seated for dinner; however after people started arriving it got a bit noisy and we sometimes had a hard time hearing each other especially after all the tables occupied.

"I traveled that week and had my wife meet up with me in San Francisco for the weekend. We both enjoy good food, great steak, and wine. I had experienced Bob Steak & Chop House in Dallas and was pleased that I was able to get reservations the night before my wife arrived. The service was very good, recommendations on wine and steak were dead on and dinner was fantastic. The best steak, incredible carrots, and salad...great place, can not miss eating at this location."

"Best Porterhouse of our lives!! Banana nut bread pudding=HEAVEN!! Maryland style Crab cakes? Better than any from Fisherman's Wharf. LOVE LOVE LOVE. We stumbled upon this gem after missing a reservation at the House of Prime Rib, and everything definitely worked out for better than the best. Everything from the Manhattans to the prompt service (thanks Mo and Danny the bartender) to the CARROT side dish to the gristle of our porterhouse was EXCEPTIONAL!!"
