"Bistango is always such a treat to go to. I wish I could go more often. I have never had anything less than a wonderful dining experience there. Great food, excellent service a noise level that let's you converse with friends (even when the live music is playing), IT IS SUPER GREAT and worth the investment."

"We were there on Thursday night.
I like the food preparation and presentation. The live soft entertainment was allowed to have conversation and it was well deliver.
It was four of us and we all agreed that each dish was delicious and prepared very well.
However red wine list did not match the food quality or the price.
The Service was excellent. keep a distance for privacy but still there where we had questions."

"I ordered the dry aged prime NY Steak med rare and it came rare. They only offered to re-fire the steak to obtain medium rare doneness. It came back medium rare in the very center with the surface being crispy and well done. The potato au gratin side had no taste and was mushy. The sautéed asparagus was very good.
I would not go to this restaurant again."

"This was our second experience at Bistango, and we returned when we had a very nice experience the first time. The dishes were interesting and overall very good. Nice to have a choice of 3, 6, or 9 oz pours of wine. Service was excellent and very attentive without being overbearing. If there were any faults I would have to say the appetizers had the right flavors, but you had to experiment a little bit to find the right proportions of each ingredient to make it taste the best. Entrees were pleasing except for the Tamarind salmon dish. For dessert, the sorbet trio was excellent and refreshing, but the strawberries Romanoff was uninspiring."

"great evening.... except for the waitress in the bar.... we had pre-dinner drinks -- and she said we needed to "close out" and would not transfer our bar tab (2 drinks!) to our dinner - though she knew we had dinner reservations in the main dining area... then after dinner, we went back to the bar for after dinner drinks, and once again - the same waitress asked us to close out with her because she was going home (we weren't ready to leave yet). very un-cloassy. but the dinner was great.. love the ambiance."

"We had the most wonderful experience at Bistango's. The waiter was exceptional! He made us feel like we were the only people there. He was there exactly when we wanted him, but not overbearing one bit. We kidded around with him and he totally went along with us making it a wonderful experience. HIs knowledge in wine along with his recommendations could not have been better. The food was the best. We dine a lot and found this place on the top of the list to revist. Loved the ambiance as well."

"Usually the food and service at this restaurant is outstanding, but unfortunately, this time, I did not care for the dish that was recommended and our server seemed to taking care of too many tables and when we needed anything, we had to another waiter if they could get things. I still love the restaurant for the food and the atmosphere so most likely, I will return."

"We drove from Los Angeles for a birthday celebration. Usually Bistango is a gem. Can seriously say we were disappointed. Our server was fair; food was delivered not as ordered -- the waiter should not have brought a pasta primavera to the table when not ONE vegetable was it - the captain needed to intervene; the scallop appetizer was so-so. All in all - I'm afraid i will be skipping this restaurant next time we drive south"

"We haven't been to this restaurant in many years, but it used to be one of my favorites. Since I moved father South, I tend to forget about it. Well, it didn't disappoint! We were seated at a lovely booth and experienced excellent service. The food was even better than I remembered - Artichoke salad was amazing, served with wonderful La Brea Bakery warm crusty bread. We had the swordfish with lemon risotto and the sesame crusted Yellow Fin Tuna with Asian vegetables- both were very good. I would recommend rediscovering Bistango for yourself!"

"Bistango consistenly ranks as our number one restaurant in Irvine. Close to Newport Beach, contemporary American with great choices for seafood and steak. This time around we had the artichoke soup and the garlic soup and for entrees the salmon and the mushroom crusted halibute with a mushroom truffle sauce (my favorite). All were outstanding. Prices are what you would expect for a quality restaurant of this caliber."

"Food was fresh and very tasty. The service was very attentive, yet there were a LOT of mistakes made. For example, the elderly couple sitting next to us were regulars, yet somehow their reservation in the computer was lost and they could not have their regular table. Then when their drinks came out, they were wrong.
Also, our waiter didn't know that you hand the menu to the woman before the man. He made the same mistake with our dinner menu and our dessert menus.
When our steaks came they forgot the appetizers. We had to wait while our side orders were cooked after our steaks. Also, when a souffle is going to take 30 min to make, most other restaurants advise you that at the time you order your dinner so they can get started on it."

but nothing special.

I ordered the ahi sandwich, and the primary ingredient, and taste in my mouth was red pepper.
I order blackened ahi, and ahi sandwiches frequently, and this one was the worst.
I will not go back to Bistango. Very pricey, with underwhelming results. Too bad, because it used to be one of my favorite restaurants."

"Had a very important group of overseas clients in town; had the opportunity to share one meal with them during their visit.
OC has many fine restaurant choices, and we picked Bistango. Through OT we let them know the nature of our needs, and boy, did they deliver.
Great table, great atmosphere. Impeccable service: attentive, but not intrusive. We were there 2 hours, never felt rushed...just comfortable, like the staff was conveying "we're glad you're here, let us take care of you." Outstanding food, as always.
Manager Ray came by to make sure everything was ok.
I'm not a regular at this restaurant, so I didn't really warrant special attention. It says a lot that they took care of us the way they did.
Highly recommen"

"Our server was fantastic. Tuna Tartare appetizer was spicy and very well done also the salad was fresh and crisp. The 45 day aged steak and the lamb chops were soft and tender and but they both lacked real flavor. The side dish of risotto was outstanding.

"Only our second visit, but surely won't be the last. Filet and Hanger steaks were prepared perfectly and the presentation is very appealing. Excellent wines and creative cocktail options. Very professional service. As unique as it seems to have a great retaurant located in the atrium of an office building - it really works here. The decor is always changing, but the quality doesn't. We'll definitley be using Bistango for future special occasions too."

"The garlic cream soup, crusty bread, and organic greens salad were excellent enough, but the encrusted halibut with the most exquisitely flavored mushroom sauce, asparagus, and mashed potatoes led us to decide that it couldn't get any better. But it did! The Three chocolate parfait with the most delicious and curious crisp and raspberry sauce put the meal over the top. One of the best meals we've had. And our waiter, Gary, was the best as well. An all-around great meal."

"We were visiting relative in Irvine and looked up this local spot for dinner. We were not disappointed. Located in a business district, the setting is modern, clean, and very nice with all the art on display. Service was attentive, and friendly. One can always tell when your water glass gets filled right away. Wife had seared scallops and it was done perfectly, just enough smokey flavor and texture. Daughter had caesar which was light and tangy. I had the roasted garlic soup also light and smooth. Mains were Chilean sea bass with mushroom risotto, fish moist, and tender and sweet, risotto al dante. Rack of lamb was tender, moist and the reduction 'jus' was tasty. Kobe beef ravioli was very good also. Wife had Grand Marnier souffle that had"

"The food was really good, but I can't say the same about the service. When we arrived at the hostess table, my wife and I had to wait for the gentleman to finish his conversation with one of the other hostesses before he would greet us. This is not something you would not expect, especially at a restaurant of this caliber. Although our waiter was nice, it was not the same experience we have had at other restaurants of this level; the approach and communication made is feel like we were at TGI Fridays or Chillis.
Although the food was good, I would not consider going back based on the service and lack of professionalism from the gentleman at the host table."

"Bistango is consistently good and has a nice selection of meat and fish to select from. We had the crab and lobster cake as appetizers and the sea bass and filet mignon as entrees. Always enjoy the chocolate souffle for dessert. Service was a little slow this time around and we were there early, i.e. 5:30 pm."
