"This place was great! Our server was outstanding. It was early because we were heading to a 7pm movie but I have been in for drinks at night too and the bar was very busy. All of our food was very good and we were pleasantly surprised by the bill since went all out! (drinks, wine, apps, desert, espressos)"

"Central Robert is a place we go to often with friends visiting. Nice atmosphere Bistro with varied menu and good food.
Friday night I was embarrassed because unfortunately the service was horrible, and the food mediocre. This is Not the usual experience at Petit Robert on Arch St. The waiter was 'out to lunch'. I really hope this was a one shot deal of horrible service. It is going to take a lot of convincing to get my husband back there."

"I regret that I took my mother as a mother's day dinner. the food was ok but over-priced for the quality. the worst part was that the staff was very rude. Especially the manager who bothered us twice about their rules in the restaurant (I just ate an appetizer and my family was sharing food, which was not acceptable according to their rules)"

"asked the waiter if I should order the salmon or lamb dish, he recommended lamb, which was the more costly. Should have gone for the salmon; the lamb was chewy. The beef in the beef burgendy was also chewy."

"All three dishes we had were very tasty, the amount of food is just right and presentation was great too. It was too noisy, a little bit too difficult to talk, but there are other sections of the restaurant where it is not as bad."

"This sweet spot has SO much atmosphere. Taking an escalater up from street side you are transformed into this lovely decorated restaurant. There is a large private dining room along the front of the restaurant which boasts large windows letting in light and overlooking Macy's in downtown. You can watch the hustle of the street below from the tables all along the window. Our water Michael was terrific recommending drinks and favorites. The scallops on squash risotto were amazing as was the pistachio crusted salmon. The staff will pay attention if you are heading to the theatre for a show. This will be my go to spot for dinner in downtown!"

"I go during the workday so need prompt service. Boy do I get it. I was in and out in less than an hour.
Granted, I'm a semi-regular, so the waitstaff know what I'm probably going to order, but there's something comforting in that, too.

"My wife and I were going to a concert and I searched the internet for restaurants in the area at the last minute. We chose Petit Robert and were very happy with the choice. The service was attentive and the food excellent for both our meals and a shared appetizer. I couldn't decide what cocktail to drink and our waitress got the bartender to suggest a couple ideas based on my likes. I would definitely recommend this place to those who want to experience novel tastes and textures of food. Would go again if I'm ever needing a meal in that area of Boston."

"I was perhaps influenced negatively by how much I liked Petit Robert in Kenmore Square. I would recommend Petit Robert Central to twenty-somethings for a drink and food after work, not for a quiet, intimate dinner. The service was very good. "My dining companion and I started with the Mesclun Salad, which was fantastic. For my main I had the Steak Frittes and was somewhat disappointed. I know that skirt steak cuts are traditionally thin but this cut seemed excessively thin and was more like a piece of jerky. The frittes were just ok - rather bland and could have been tastier if made with herbs.
My companion had the roasted half chicken and was disappointed with the broccoli rabe side.
I closed with an absolutely fantastic creme brulee."

"I invited an out of town friend to lunch. The atmosphere at Petite Roberts was loud and we asked if we could be seated in a quieter area. There was no alternate room to be seated in. The food was excellent however 2 soups and a shared flatbread followed by 2 cups of tea for $35.00 is outrageous! I won't be back."

"We had a great meal here. The flatbread pizza appetizer was outstanding, our fish entrees (haddock with spinach and salmon with horseradish and beets) were very good (if a bit plain), and the dessert (a layered gateaux with raspberry sauce) was terrific. With great service and a moderate noise level (in the room closest to the Boston Common) even on a Saturday night, this was an excellent surprise in Downtown Crossing. We plan to return, and meanwhile, we'd highly recommend it!"

"It was my first time dining at this restaurant and I had only heard good things about the Petit Robert empire. Two grad school friends and I were catching up and were so happy to have a tasty leisurely meal. As it was restaurant week and this location wasn't participating, it was a very quiet evening with the exception of a large party (which unfortunately was seated directly next to us). As for food, we shared the cheese plate, ordered salads and burgers which were delicious. We also had a couple bottles of red wine. Our server was excellent and gave us just the right amount of space, and continued to make sure our water glasses were filled even after we paid. Affordable, classy, with delicious food, I look forward to returning!"

"Went for lunch with a group of 5 from the office. I go here often for lunch and to unwind after work. I always am satisified with the food and service. In this case I got a tasty chicken schnitzel sandwich. I find that the food and drinks are reasonable priced for what I percieve as a higher end restaurant/bar. I usually target arriving on or before noontime as the restaurant usually gets very busy for lunch which brings along a lively atmosphere."

"I had been to Petit Robert Kenmore several times and always enjoyed it, so I thought I would give the Central/Downtown location a try for a large group reservation (11 guests) on a Friday evening. The dining room at Central is lovely: airy, spacious, and elegant without being pretentious. We had a reliably good meal, and the service was excellent. Same as the other locations, the prices are reasonable, including the wine list. I would definitely go back, either for an intimate meal for two or a larger group."

"We found Petit Robert Central online when we were looking to make an evening of some theatre tickets at the Opera House. Although it was a bit hard to locate it as we walked around the neighborhood, we were so happy we did not give up. The menu made us want to stay for longer but the wait staff was so helpful in getting us to our play on time. The food was delectable...among the stars of Boston. Loved the ambience. Quiet enough for conversation but very lively environment. Really felt like a French bistro. Will definitely come back again and visit the other locations. Don't miss this gem!"

"Enjoyed the food and the service was great. It was a Thursday night and the bar was crowded, which contributed to the noise level making it at times difficult for my friend and I to hear each other and we were all the way by the window. One of the potential drawbacks to dining on a Thursday night. Didn't really spoil the dinner, but needed to be noted. The duck was delicious, as was the flatbread appetizer. A wonderful dinner overall."

"My friend and I enjoyed a marvelous lunch at Petit Robert Central. Her chicken pot pie was delicious, as were my French onion soup and enormous, fresh salad with fried goat cheese. The fresh bread was crusty and fragrant, one of the marks of a good restaurant in my opinion. The wait staff was very well trained, attentive but not obtrusive. The room is light and airy, with enormous windows. I look forward to returning."

"Service was a problem as only 1 waitress had the entire side dining room this particular evening. It was clear the restaurant was not prepared for the number of customers having dinner prior to a show at the Opera House and this poor waitress was practically running to wait on all of her customers. Her attitude and capacity was impressive but the sheer volume of customers was beyond what she could do. Our experiences at the 2 other Petit Robert locations have been nice so we will certainly give this location another try & hopefully these issues will be solved."
