Cities Restaurant & Lounge
Cities atmosphere is warm, contemporary, modern and comfortable. The restaurant features a 50" (fifty) media wall, including 19 LCD screens featuring panoramic scenes of the "featured city" corresponding with the themed menu, which will change quarterly. Cities concept is to create a restaurant and lounge that showcases a menu from a featured cities along with perennial American classics in a relaxed modern atmosphere. The featured cities will change every 4 months, with the core of the menu being the American favorites. The interior is detailed with high gloss maple wood, glass enclosed wine display, persimmon colored banquettes and grey slate tabletops creating a comfortable atmosphere. A two-way bar bridges the lounge area and offers clear views to the dining room.
"I had scheduled a luncheon for 10 ppl and was told the day before by one of the guests (who happened to pass by the restaurant by accident) that the restaurant had been shut down over the weekend. No note or call from the restaurant or apology. As one can imagine, it was not fun to find another place in the area for 10 ppl on such short notice. The unresponsiveness by the restaurant management was not appreciated at all. Definitely not a place I would recommend ever to anybody or book should they open up a new facility somewhere else again."
"I have been here for lunch, usually sitting inside, and always found the food and service good. Since it was a beautiful day, we opted for the outdoor tables. It was at least 10 minutes before we even received menus and everything after that seemed like "pulling teeth". Maybe it was an off day, or they were training new staff, but it was not that crowded - inside or out - and so I would have expected better, quicker service. Food, once we got it was good."

"The service was truly awful - there was one waitress for the entire restaurant. They were out of flatbreads (a section on the menu)...because they were out of bread - period. It took almost 1 1/2 hours to get our lunch for five people (sandwiches and salads). Water glasses went empty even after several asks. It was painful. She finally felt the need to tell us the restaurant was about to close its doors permanently and all the other staff had already quit, leaving her alone. Then, when I was almost starting to feel bad for her, she handed me a bill with an 18% service charge added in for our party of five. DO NOT DINE HERE. Happy hour may be okay, but don't think you'll get food service."
"From the moment you are greeted at the door until you get the bill, Cities provides an amazing dining experience, exquisite food cooked to perfection, great atmosphere and ambiance and the utmost courtesy to their guests. There is nothing but goodness at Cities! You must try the All American Burger with Sweet Potato Fries, it is so savory! All the small plate offerings are also great if you are just looking to have good bites while you sip during happy hour. Whatever you order, however, will absolutely satisfy your palate. Everything tastes GREAT! The staff is professional and provides service with a smile, the overall house is clean and beautifully decorated. In the warmer months, the patio is open and the front of the house dining room's windows are opened creating a great experience of eating outdoors no matter where you sit! I love this place! You won't be disappointed! Cities is the place to be. Five stars hands down."

"I've only been here for happy hour so I can't say much about the club scene but the hh specials are good, they have outdoor seating, and the mac n cheese is amazing! May be the best in the city! It's really the main reason my co-workers and I go there :)."

"Recently enjoyed a wonderful late lunch at Cities! The service was above great, the food was very, very good, and the prices were reasonable. The restaurant ambience was also very comfortable and inviting. I would definitely recommend this restaurant for lunch!"

"Overall, this place has delicious food and the drinks are very good (I was drinking the 48% I believe). Try to get here early for dinner on a Friday or Saturday because it does turn into a club late night and if you are sitting in the lounge area you will be asked to wrap your meal up lol"

"My husband and I went to Cities for Valentines Day. We made a last minute reservation. The place was not crowded at all, which had me worried because of the bad Yelp reviews I had read. But the negative Yelp reviews were way off. The decor was beautiful with low lighting and candles on the table. A staff member brought a rose to me and our waitress was great. The food was even better. We ordered off of the special Valentines Day menu and every item we had was so good. We were in and out within an hour. I would recommend especially for special occasions."
"Cities has consistently outstanding service, a varied menu and good value. It's a wonderful spot for lunch, where you can always count on great service. Whether you want a full entre and sides, or are looking for just a great salad, this is the place."

"Through Spring and Summer and early Fall, Cities has a great outdoor bar area for catching a drink or too (with prices not unreasonable for a more upscale place right off K-Street), and the bar scene inside is decent for immediately after work (I hear it also has a hopping late-night scene, but I've never personally been). Unfortunately, this also is its Achilles' heel when it comes to dining: Cities's attempt at being a hip restaurant is undermined by its bar vibe. There is little/no physical separation between the bar area and dining area, so the noise level is almost intolerable unless you grab a booth, and service in the dining area is constantly overstretched. Although Cities "hook" of rotating its menu between the cuisine of several countries could be clever in defter or more innovative hands, as it stands now the quality and thoughtfulness of the food feels an afterthought. I do not think I would eat at Cities again were it not so convenient to my work. Expanding the bar and going for a more high-quality gastropub vibe would be a much smarter move than their current bar/restaurant concept, and probably deliver a far better experience."
