"Café Chianti was a very memorable visit. We had purchased a voucher for a credit towards a meal at Café Chianti, which we used before going to a local play. We had not visited this restaurant for some years and were intrigued by the new location.
We were both very pleasantly surprised and pleased with the overall experience we enjoyed.
We have both vowed to return to Café Chianti as soon as possible to stay longer and enjoy the ambiance, great food and wine."

"Cafe Chianti is a neighbourhood gem in the South End of Halifax. The ambience is relaxing and quiet. At the same time, it's accommodating to group dining.
The food served at this restaurant is absolutely great. I loved the Transylvanian Goulash - full of flavour with a good amount of acid so that it's not too rich.
If there is a minute detail to improve, it would be the Calamari appetizer.
The Calamari was served with tasty sauce drizzled overtop. I wished the sauce was off to the side so that we can appreciate the full flavour of the Calamari. Plus, it's a little more romantic to have the sauce to dip.

"A date night and we were not disappointed. I think that the restaurant has a really nice atmosphere and is well laid out. For for a night out with friends or just a night out with your wife/husband you will not be disappointed.
The food was very good but not fantastic.....it was on the verge. We split a caesar salad to start. the crusted cheese tweel was a nice addition and we enjoyed it. I like to try caesar salad wherever I go and this was above average but not the best.
Off of the menu, I really enjoyed the seafood pescatore. They did not skimp on the seafood and the dish was seasoned nicely. 3 nice sized scallops, 3 shrimp, and a couple of nice chunks of lobster... gotta like that. The linguine had a good bite so the dish was one"

"I have been to Cafe Chainti before and the food has been fantastic along with the service. On this occassion, my friend and I went there and she ordered the calamari as an appetizer. It was so salty she could not eat it. It was given back to the waiter who asked if we wished the kitchen staff notified. She said yes. She did not get an apology from anyone about the apetizer and they still charged her for it even though she could not eat it. I tried it and took all the batter off and it was extremely salty."

"Although I didn't find the experience awful. I would say that the food was forgetable and the prices didn't match the expectation. "This was our fourth visit in their new local,the decor is beautiful but the noise level is extremely loud,but we knew this from previous visits but we had a gift card from family at Xmas.We ordered the same apps and entrees as our last visit,we noticed that the prices had increased eg.Raviolli $17 or 18 (in Dec.) to $22.00 now,it was very tasty but not a large serving for the increase.Otherwise the meal was tasty but not near the standard as noted before at Cafe Chianti.To us this is a very expensive restaurant,one draft,2 apps and two entree=$84.00 without tip.We just discovered Le Bistro again (ate there in the 80's),a draft,2 app,crepes and pasta as entrees =$51.00.+guitar player and the noise level was fine.Damaurizo 3 cr $40x2=80 YUM."

"The food was amazing! I had the Linguini alla Marco Pollo, and it was one of the best meals that I've ever had in my life! My husband had a salmon entree and loved it. The warm spinach salad and the squash soup were also perfect.
I wish Cafe Chianti was more in my price range to go every week! However, we will definitely return for our next special occasion. (Plus I'll ask for gift cards for Christmas!)

"This was my second time at Cafe Chianti. The first experience was great.
The second experience would have been much better with a better server. Getting a refill on water is a no brainier in the local diners. Why suffer waiting for water in an upscale restaurant? I even requested it but got the bill instead. The table we were at was right by the glass/water/menu station right outside the kitchen door. Although it was entertaining watching the servers hurry around trying to avoid collisions with each other it definitely did not make for a peaceful dining experience.

"My wife and I enjoyed every aspect of our dinning experience. From the appetizers to main course neither of us could recall ever being so satisfied. One of our favorite things to do is to go out and try new fine dinning establishments. I have never written a review in the past, but felt this experience deserves one. "We were seated in the back room, very dark and gaudy. An Italian restaurant that serves Eastern European food; tried the goulash ...too heavy. Italian dishes you would expect to see on the dinner menu (chicken parma) weren't."

"For sharing an appitizer, having an entree, and sharing a dessert with no wine or alchohol, a meal should not take over 2 hours. Alot of time spent not eating and waiting. Timings need to be adjusted for different types of diners. Obvioulsy, if a group is drinking bottles of wine, and enjoying many courses, a lingering schedule might be appreciated. For two dining with a show following, it was not. Calamari was delicious, however if I am going to pay these prices, I expect more than a notable introduction to my experience."

"Went for Valentine's Day. Restaurant was busy - we had an early (5pm) dinner. Apetizers (Crab Cakes & Calamari) were very good. Seafood medley was excellent and jumbalaya was good. Service was excellent and pricing reasonable."

"I must say, the Jambalaya was to-die-for. And my partner's duck was excellent. My crab cake starter was very good, although the calamari was a little too greasy for my liking. Wine excellent, service very good (waitress forgot the lobster fork).
I only wish they could recreate the ambience of the old place. Difficult i know when you have a box to work with."
