"Some of the best food I have ever had the pleasure of enjoying. The tuna tartare is the best I have ever had, and my scallops were incredible. I found the staff to be friendly and extremely knowledgeable. I would recommend dining at this beautiful establishment if you have the opportunity. We find this to be the case every time we dine here. Even when extremely busy they pay very close attention to detail, and we're overly accommodating to get us to our show on time. Thank you cuisine for providing the caliber of restaurant usually only found in New York or Chicago. We will be back soon."

"Cuisine has long been one of my favorite Detroit restaurants. The meal we had last Saturday was truly outstanding even by the high standards I have come to expect from this establishment.
The tuna appetizer was very good. We also had a pickled vegetable appetizer, which was very good and a special spring surprise: fiddleheads.
I realize this sort of dish is not for everyone, but the veal sweatbreads with fois gras was seriously one of the very best things I have ever eaten in my life, no exaggeration."

"We dined early on a Friday and avoided the crowd. DRW selections were enjoyed by all. Halibut was extraordinary. Eva, our server, suggested the brussels sprouts to share for the table and we all thought they were outstanding. The bartender's special martini was a treat. Our table ordered the asparagus and the charcuterie plate as starters, the halibut(sublime) and the pork for mains. All the plates went back empty, except for the pork which was a generous serving and some was carried home. We were thrilled that as other diners arrived, we could still carry on a table conversation easily. We have plans to return for special occasion dining. Cuisine offers delicious fine dining choices in a pleasant atmosphere. The carrot cake was exquisite!"

"The food was good (best short ribs I've ever had, without question), however, the building is in total disrepair (the entry steps are such a hazard they've been covered by a rug) and needs a bit more than a face lift. The service was awful. The staff was in cahoots running food up and down the stairs - no one seemed to have a plan...it was chaos. For the price you pay for the food I'd expect a nicer setting with a more professional staff.
Lots of potential here, but we won't be returning."

"Cuisine has always served excellent food. The menu selection will change almost weekly based on the availability of quality items. From their fresh baked Rosemary Bread to the simple yet elegant deserts, you will not be disappointed. I have Lobster bisque, Filet Mignon, Lobster Mac and Cheese and a Risotto. The Bisque was perfectly flavored, the Filet was tender with a buttery texture, the Risotto was light,creamy and fluffy, I was too full for the Lobster Mac and Cheese (So that went home). The cheese cake was baked just right and was full of flavor and the reduction served with it was very strong but oh so good. Highly recommend Cuisine."

"Really enjoyed my meal. I had a slight snafu when my dessert came-a very tempting albeit dairy based parfait. But I'm lactose intolerant-uh oh. A member of the staff suggested sorbet as an alternate option. He brought me a "tasting" portion of 3 gourmet sorbets. Very Nice!"

"DRW led to a busy atmosphere and an over-loaded wait staff. The first half of our meal was wonderful, but as the diners increased, the service suffered. Though two apologized, it must be said that we were told 'other' staff were responsible for the lack.
Again, the food was phenomenal. We had a reservation and were not in a hurry, but we felt overlooked and forgotten at times."

"Food was great, but we arrived at 5:45 and told our waiter we were going to the theater at 8 PM across the street. He told us we should order right away, which we were prepared to do, but then he didn't come back to take our order. We did not get the desserts or coffee that we ordered (despite waiting 30 minutes) before we had to go to the theater. Since it was a fixed price menu, we paid for the desserts bc we didn't have time to deal with speaking with the manager.
In short, go there for the food, but don't be in a hurry (even a moderate hurry)."

"Went for restaurant week. The waitress did not know the menu. The space of time between first and second course was way too long. Served the wrong dessert. Only one dessert wine available, the rest "we are out of". The pork entree was terrific, the charcuterie app was too.The server tried, but was clearly over her head on a Saturday night. "I couldn't go any further than a 3 star review. I liked everything but it wasn't super star. The food was quite good but didn't seem very French or unusual to my taste buds.There are many many good restaurants in the Detroit area but most seem to go down a conservative menu path which is understandable as the general population is used to coney dogs and potato chips. The upstairs seemed a bit sketchy in terms of the sagging ceiling. Charming? perhaps if we sat downstairs. Did the vibe go with the food that was served? not so much. The wait staff was friendly and so over all the experience was good. Oh, WAIT! I just remembered ..we went during restaurant week. A.K.A. appeal to the masses (coney dog folk)"

"The food selection was interesting and well presented. Eva, our server, was attentive and well versed on the offerings. Each person in our party of four order a different main course, and we were all happy with our choices.
When we booked the reservation, we didn't realize it was the beginning of Detroit Restaurant Week. Two of of ordered from the special menu and had the three course meal for $30 which was a real bargain.
Seating upstairs is much quieter than the large dining room on the main floor.
Cuisine is a wonderful restaurant to visit before attending productions at the Fisher Theater."

"Truly a gourmet restaurant in detroit. We both chose one of the progression menus, with five or six courses chosen by the chef to go together. Everything was excellent. Perfectly done and delicately sauced scallops, amazing braised short ribs and prime rib, and quinoa with a nonsweet strawberry sauce. My menu was the vegetarian, and though I can't describe the courses well, they were all surprisingly good and I would recommend without reservation. Do note, this is fine dining, it will take a couple of hours, plan accordingly. If you're in a hurry, there are plenty of other fair choices, but food this good takes time. It's well worth it."

"Cuisine is our regular stop for dinner before a show at the Fisher. The restaurant has made many great improvements in the Menu designed to help cope with the the before Theatre rush. Our food was excellent, our service was great and we were out in plenty of time to see Book of Mormon. "Went pre-theat-giving ourselves over 2 hours before curtain.Pre-theater menu was incorrect and we had to change orders after waiter informed us.Service was slow and became glacial after the main course. The pre-theater menu was 3 courses. We barely had time to eat the dessert and were glad we chased down a waiter to run our credit card even before dessert. The dessert was nothing special - certainly something prepared ahead of time. Main course was good but 4 of us ordered the same item and the portion sizes varied dramatically - it almost seemed as one person received half an order.The salad was "over dressed".A large table made the noise level uncomfortable. Location is great if going to Fisher- we will not return. Was a weeknight."

"Cuisine gets a couple extra points because of it's location- a full house at the Fisher should pack the place (you can walk right into the theater)- yet the food is a B- and the staff seemed to try hard, but they were frazzled. A basic martini should not be hard to make. Food should arrive hot. A prix fixe menu should be a no brainer- and if the dessert is included, let's have something other than chocolate cake and ice cream. Location is everything- but with so many other groovy places to eat in Detroit- Roast, for example, we won't run back."

"We tried calling the restaurant for over an hour before deciding to have dinner elsewhere. Afterwards we drove by and noticed they were open so we decided to stop in for dessert. Two of us had souffles which were delicious. My husband had the lemon came which was fabulous also but small in size. We plan to return for dinner sometime."

"We had thought we'd never return to Cuisine after dining there last year before a performance at the Fisher Theatre. The service that evening was unbelievably slow. We did return just this week, though, as we were attending the Fisher Theatre again and it is just across the street. And we were glad that we did! The menu, though somewhat limited, was appealing, the food was excellent, and the waitress was marvelous. What a lovely pre-theatre meal it was!"

"We had a reservation and when we arrived at 5 after a theatre matinee. The restaraunt was empty.The hostess directed us to a table where there was one other party of four right next to us. Normally this would not be a problem however the tables are so tightly packed in, you could not move your chairs and the servers could not refill a water glass, pour your wine or serve an entree without our assistance. I had the impression the staff was still setting up since we had to ask for butter when our bread was served and to light the candle on our table.
On the positive side, our waitress was extremely helpful in choosing our entrees. The food was well prepared and warm.

"This was our second visit to Cuisine. We had such a wonderful meal on our first visit that we once again chose Cuisine for dinner before the theater. Unfortunately the experieince was not as fulfilling as the first visit. We originally made our reservations in January knowing that the play was to be a very popular one. We received a confirmation of our reservation by Email on the day before our dinner reservation. Yet, our guests arrived before we did and were told that there was no reservation. Fortunately we eventually were placed at the table in the back of the dining room. As expected the establishment was busy and the waitors were completely overwhelmed. Immediately upon being seated we were asked for our dinner selections. Food ok"

"We had good service & very good food on our first visit. This visit the food was up to expectation, but the service really sad. I had to watch my young adult daughter experience her first suspicion that a table of two women without escort may not get the same attention as others. Our waitress not only largely ignored us, but actually turned away mid-sentence to speak to staff, not returning. Our dish "for the table" came 15 minutes before our entrees, I waited for my coffee a long time and it arrived lukewarm. There was one dessert offered, but 2 hours into service our waitress did not know what it was and had to be reminded twice to please find out. Dessert was dropped so quickly that we had no chance to ask for forks to eat it with."

"Wonderful experience on an hectic evening. With all the tables hoping to make the curtain at the Fisher Theatre, the staff was overwhelmed with an impatient crowd. Not helped by a new assistant that was clearly over her head ( she was over her head as a hostess on prior visits too). We paced ourselves accordingly, so had a great meal and with plenty of time."
