A convivial atmosphere, enhanced by the cozy fire place, invites diners to
linger a while. Dinner tables are set with crisp linens, making you feel like a
welcome guest at a friend’s home. If meeting a friend for a drink or appies,
have a seat along the bar, where there’s great people-watching. Pastis is as

"It was Mother's Day, resturant was super busy and kitchen was backed up. Lets just say took over an hour to get the main dish, and it tested just ok. We had Eggs Benedict, Tomato, Goat Cheesem, Steamed Mussels, White Wine and Shallots with Pomme Frites. They did bring us very delicious croissants but we thought it was on the house since brunch took over an hour.they, $17 for 5."

"First time at Bistro Pastis. Had an early reservation so was quite quiet upon arrival. Sound built up as restaurant filled up. Food was very good, but not the best we have experienced. One of our party wanted to make a substitution and the chef came out from the back and explained why he would not make the sub. Not a big issue and the scallops were excellent.
Overall very good, but there are many other excellent restaurants to try but an excellent neighborhood find."

"Bistro Pastis continues to over deliver in every aspect of their operation and is a real neighborhood gem. While many people may perceive it as possibly being expensive, it's pricing sits around the "fine casual dining" chains like earl's, Cactus Club etc., and in some cases cheaper. The Sunday night we were in, people were in suits, jeans, shorts and everything in between and you know...it all works and fits into the Kits neighborhood!"

"French food is a bit of obssession as is anything French. Pastis had always lost the draw to other French restos in town so I finally decided to give it a shot. The quality of the food, especially the main courses, was below average (with my beuf bourgignon being so dry that I ate 1/3rd only). The sides were uninspiring, as was the dessert menu (with no blue cheese options). The service was prompt but left no memorable impression. The room is classic French, which I really enjoyed. The general medicracy; however, isn't reflected in the bill. It's expensive, which I am ok with as long as it's good value. Bistro Pastis is not good value and I won't be back. I have other options in this city."

"We've been to Bistro Pastis often and never had a bad meal. Our last visit was on a wet and dismal Friday and the place was hopping. It was so busy that i had to knock a couple of stars off for service. It was very slow. We got seated just before a table of 12 got seated and I think we got caught behind their orders. The staff all pitched in, including the ever busy and friendly owner but still it was quite a wait for food. It was worth the wait as the soup of the day was sublime and my scallop and prawn entree perfectly handled. Bistro Pastis is still a "go to" favourite of ours, a real neighbourhood gem."

"Was here for Valentine's Day dinner on a recommendation. I made the reservation a month early and heard nothing from them until a few days before Valentine's. They want to put a $75 deposit on my credit card or else they will cancel my reservation. Now I understand the business reasons for requiring this on such a busy holiday. However, I believe doing this, so close to the reservation date puts the diner at a disadvantage. I gave them my card # anyway and complete the reservation. Food is better than your average bistro fare, servers are attentive enough. Ambiance was terrible, instead of a romantic evening with my date, it felt more like a large family gathering in a small house - loud, noisy and too crowded."

"The first Saturday of "Dine Out Vancouver" resulted in Bistro Pastis being full. They had a very creative $28 and $38 menu. Food and service were excellent and timely and it all moved like clockwork. We'll be back."

"This was my third visit to Bistro Pastis and it still delivers. It had been a long time since my last visit but it's still a lovely spot, with excellent food and fantastic service. Our waiter was the older gentleman with glasses and he was charming and friendly. He wasn't aloof as some staff at fine dining establishments tend to be. Bistro Pastis you're in my all time favourites list!"

"A wonderful French style restaurant/bistro in Kitsalano. The food is well prepared and authentic. wine list is extensive with something to please evryone. The attention to decorative details makes for a pleasant and inviting ambience. Service is attentive but unobstrusive. Overall, you can't miss this restaurant."

"Despite going in a group of 4 on the last Saturday of Dine-Out Vancouver, the staff/ servers were friendly, relaxed and professional. There was no sense of urgency or hurry. The food was marvelous; 2 had the 28 dollar selections and 2 the 38. The salmon was the stand out appetizer; the crab crusted fish delicious, the steak was lovely. The desserts, and we had the 3 selections were all enjoyed, with either the lemon tart or the chocolate mousse (which tasted nothing like awful instant pudding) were absolutely great. I liked the wines that were suggested with the meal. The room is pleasant- absolutely packed, but not so packed we intruded on one another's parties. (my son has already booked Valentine's Day, sans mamma sigh)."

"We had a great dine-out experience, best table by the fireplace, lovely server who was still bubbly and attentive even though it was the second to last night of dine-out and she must have been tired. The food was amazing, great wine and they even modified a dish for one of our guests to be gluten-free!! Overall, amazing time!"

"Loved this place! Great bistro atmosphere, warm and cozy with friendly and attentive staff. Also, when we asked to move to another table due to the loud person seated near us, we were made to feel this was perfectly acceptable and no bother at all. The only shortcoming was our main course - an unexceptional salad nicoise, which featured too much heavy dressing and not enough veg, and my companion's small slice of quiche accompanied by a similarly overdressed salad. Our deserts were very good, however, and gave us a positive ending to the meal."

"The restaurant is a decent size but they try to put way more table than they should, the seating is really crowed and uncomfortable.
Food quality is normal, nothing special. Services is alright, it was a really busy night when we went ( a group of six people), but I felt they try to rush us out the whole time. For the amount of money we paid, there are definitely better alternative in town, will not return or recommend."

"I was at Bistro Pastis for dine-out night. The place was super crowded and noisy, I guess full to dine-out couples catching up with the last weekend of this event. I had a chance to try out the steak and chicken breast on their $28 menu. It wasn't terrible, but it wasn't spectacular either. Service was slow and it was difficult to get servers when we needed them. Won't be coming back unless 10 other better french bistro around it closes down."

"There was a lot of people due to dine out and so the noise was high but that did not take away from the great service and the delicious food. Every item was perfectly prepared. The 3 courses for dine out was amazing! Definitely a favorite. Although it took time to get our entrees out (probably due to the dine out full house), we appreciated the special attention with the extra wine glass being poured by management, an apology and recognition of the extra time we needed to wait, and an extra order of pomme frittes on the house. These little touches shows appreciation for our business and definitely wins us over!"
