Located in the heart of Upper Yorkville, L'Unità has been serving the neighborhood for over five successful years. Offering seasonal local fare described as "new Italian with a Canadian heart", L'unità features a broad menu of new classics following the slow food cooking movement. All items are made in house from scratch, including all breads, pasta and desserts. Keeping in theme with the menu concept, the wine program at L'Unità boasts exclusive labels representing regional Italy and local top producers from Niagara.
"We had such a wonderful meal here. L'unita is a small Italian gem in the Yorkville neighborhood of Toronto. We had the antipasto plate and octopus and chorizo to start, AMAZING!! The antipasto plate was explained in detail down to the crispy pigs ears, we were split 2/2 on the crispy pigs ears. My husband had the Italian sausage pasta, loved it. Step-daughter had the lobster pasta, she didn't share :( Step-daughters boyfriend had a pizza, he seemed to enjoy it. And I had by for the best meal, a Fred Flintstone sized pork chop (bone in), with crispy polenta red pepper, puree and vegetables. A great bottle of wine and fantastic service. We will be back if we are in Toronto again."

"Food was delicious, and half-price wine (for the entire list!) on Tuesdays made this more of a treat than it usually is. Highly recommend. Only annoyanvce was that the server clearly thought he was cooler than everyone in the restaurant, but was not by any means. The Rosedale matrons two tables over were cooler than he was..."

"We have been to L'Unita several times and always find the staff warm and friendly. We love the food, and the fact that serving staff are knowledgable about every item on the menu. And who can argue with half-price wine night? We recommend this restaurant to friends often. We brought an important business contact to L'Unita this week knowing we would be proud to say this is one of our favourite restaurants! Thank you!"

"Good selection of appetizers, pizza's pastas and entrees. Excellent wine list with fair pricing crafted around local (Ontario) and Italian theme. Excellent service."

"We and our friends enjoyed a lovely dinner on a recent Saturday evening. Our server was attentive, friendly and very efficient. The food was very good though a tad pricey. Even if a bit noisy, the ambience was lively."

"we have been to l'unita many times and found it super. But this time I was disappointed, especially with my main dish, the pasta special fettucini with mushrooms and some type of greens. I found it way too salty and with a strange texture. The other dishes were very good, but that dish turned me off."

"The food was ok-good, but overpriced. I feel like they overcharge because it's located in yorkville, but it just wasn't worth it. The atmosphere was nice. The service was great (polite, friendly, attentive etc.), beautiful decor, and great music (Bill Withers, Al Green, Etta James etc)."

"Came here with some colleagues. Restaurant decor was cozy but just a tad too dark despite the candles. The antipasto invernale, porcini mushroom pizza, and the warm olives were quite delicious and good share plates to start. Tomato soup with the roasted onions was a divine appetizer with the crusty bread and olive oil, but then it kind of went downhill with the main course. The lamb ragu and pesce with black rice dishes were way too salty to enjoy, and our waitress was nice enough to offer me an alternative, which was the lobster ravioli, but unfortunately did not make the grade either - it lacked a punch in flavour. It was just plain salty (even without the truffle salt!) Thank god my dark chocolate torta saved the meal in the end..."

"Fantastic, genuine staff made our night memorable. Great recommendations from cocktails to wine and food. Loved the dimly lit ambiance and vibe. The brasied beef shorts ribs are amazing! An all around winner for us always."

"L'Unita has a great feel and is the most personable of cluster of restaurants in the Avenue/Davenport area. That said, the food was so much better a few months back, that I wonder if something is wrong. We've eaten there 3 times, and the first was maybe 6 months ago. The wine list is good, and fairly priced and the food last summer was very good. In our most recent 2 visits we've been very disappointed. Dishes that we enjoyed in the past, are not the same - salads, game hen, various appetizers which impressed us before are now just ok.
Love the atmosphere; hope they get the food back up to previous level."

"I was disappointed with the food. The venison was bland and so was the polenta. The pear was ok, but nothing special to it - just like eating a regular sliced pear. And the room was too dark we couldn't read the menu very well."

"There was one miscue on our order:a wrong pasta dish was brought, but the error was rectified immediately, and because of the mistake we were not charged for the dish we actually ordered. The wine was superb. Everyone in our party thoroughly enjoyed the evening. We would all very happily return to L'Unita soon and often. It's hard to think of another restaurant comparably good in which you can have an enjoyable dinner conversation because of the moderate noise level."
