"This was our first time at The Old Village Post House even though we live close by. The setting is gorgeous. The outside patio looks absolutely gorgeous, even though we sat inside. The food was awesome, serving size was perfect and the menu was all very tempting. The only thing I didn't like was my husband was still eating his meal and all other people's plates were being cleared and we were being asked about dessert. Definitely a rushed feeling, and clearing plates whilst other people are eating is rude, but other than that all was perfect, including the rest of the service."

"We went for brunch recently, a group of 6. Everything we ordered was absolutely delightful - my husband has been talking about the brioche French toast every day since, and my crab cakes eggs benedict were the best I've ever had. However, there were several missteps - wrong drink delivered, wrong side dish, sauce poured on when requested on side, maple syrup forgotten when asked for it after food was delivered. We just chalked it up to an "off" day for an otherwise kind, attentive server, but it was a little disappointing to have to keep interrupting our gathering with out-of-town family to try to make corrections or ask for things that were already requested. Will still return, as this was not our first experience here and we do love OVPH."

"We took out-of-town friends to the Old Village Post House on Saturday, May 5 and had a delightful dinner in a lovely atmosphere. The soft shell crab was done to perfection, and the wine selection varied and quite good. The bar tender found Canadian Club at the back of his top shelf, to my great delight. I have a hard time getting it in this area.
The noise level in the main dining room was much too noisy for me to be able to have any conversation with our friends. We moved to the bar, which I prefer anyway, and the noise level was still high, but at more tolerable. We still look forward to our next visit, and feel fortunate to have such a fine restaurant so near at hand.

"This past weekend, my husband and I had a wonderfully romantic table for two in the main dining room. The ambiance was romantic, but up-to-date...with fresh white bead-board walls, deep chocolate colored ceilings, pretty natural woven hanging light fixtures, and gorgeous floor to ceiling windows which looked out upon a charming, turn-of-the-century streetscape. The food was delicious - I had the vegetable plate, hubby had the flounder, and we shared a chocolate dessert over coffee. We never felt rushed. The service was great. And we will be back!"

"Been here over 20 times as we vacation at Wild Dunes. OVPH never disappoints. My hanger steak was excellent and the blue cheese sauce was perfect--not overwhelming and the portions were generous. My wife had the shrimp and grits, our favorite version in the area know for this dish. We had driven straight in from Atlanta and they were efficient with their service but we were not rushed. Just perfect."

"My husband and I made a last minute reservation for the Post House while visiting the Charleston area. Our adventures took longer than we anticipated and we wanted to dine somewhere near our hotel. Could not have picked a better place for our evening meal! Superior food, outstanding service, and lovely atmosphere made for a very pleasant evening. As a resident of the mid-west, my relationship with seafood was not at it's best. But after enjoying the incredibly fresh and well prepared local seafood fare offered, a love affair with seafood has blossomed, especially with oysters! Thank you for such a wonderful culinary experience!"

"What was once a hardware store when I was a child growing up on Pitt Street is now a beautiful restaurant. We celebrated a birthday on a Sunday evening, and it was a busy place. I had the hanger steak which was as tender as butter. Our server was attentive and we had a great time. Be sure to try the Pitt Street Breeze for a refreshing cocktail!"

"I would say this place is perfect for any occasion. I have rarely enjoyed a meal as much as I enjoyed here. I arrived with a party of 6 only to find I had made my reservation for the following Sunday. The staff was incredible. They quickly accommodated our guests and proceeded to serve a fabulous meal. "Our party of 4 thoroughly enjoyed a fabulous meal. We raved about the shrimp and grits (best ever, according to our local expert) and I had a hangar steak with a blue chees sauce to die for. Though fully sated, we tried the lemon chess pie and chocolate tart, both of which were over the top wonderful. Either save room for dessert or just go for it! We also had lovely service, very profesional, not overly friendly, but engaging and helpful with recommendations. We're still talking about the entire experience! It was my second time in several years, and I'd go back in a heartbeat!

"Have eaten here a number of times in past five years. The food which is always good, was even better than last time. Shrimp and grits were excellent lthough mussels were a little bland. It s in a beautiful setting and the outdoor patio is very nice. . Wonderful for a romantic or special celebration"

"Second time dining here and it was just as delicious as before. My dining companions also enjoyed their meals - flounder, burger with pimento, shrimp and grits and steak. The lemon chess pie and strawberry shortcake were fantastic!"

"The ambience of the Old Village Post Inn was top drawer, as was the neighborhood around it. A true trip into old low-country South. The service was attentive, but you never felt like they were overbearing, they just appeared whenever needed. Four of us dined and we all had wonderful meals. OVPI was my favorite restaurant in Charleston and we hit several top-rated ones. Absolutely loved their shrimp and grits."

"One of the best restaurant values anywhere. An iconic setting, excellent food and superb service. Hard to find fault. If you are staying in Charleston and have a car, drive across the bridge to Mt. Pleasant and feel like you are entering a time warp. The restaurant is set on a street that looks like something out of the 1950's, and the restaurant itself has one of the nicest atmospheres of any anywhere. You won't regret it."
