After having done "les 400 coups'' (literal translation: the 400 tricks), we finally decided to open our own restaurant. We being: Marc-André Jetté as the executive chef, Patrice Demers as the pastry chef and Marie-Josée Beaudoin as the Sommelier. After having worked together for the past two years and having done a few tricks of our own, we knew exactly what we wanted for our clientele: a cozy space, a refined and inspired cuisine as well as a stimulating and enriching experience.
"For lunch - Had the Salmon appetizer, Scallop main, and Japanese cheesecake for dessert. Everything was delicious. Scallops were unbelievable. Almost had another order of scallops."

"An excellent restaurant with dishes that offer well-thought-out components that work well together and thoughtful wine accompaniments. The entire meal would have been perfect except for the main dish - With consisted of a lean cut of pork which was overdone. It was dry and tasteless, although the other pieces of the dish played well in terms of flavor with the pork, it wasn't enough to save the dish. I noticed a lady at the table next to me, who enjoyed the same menu as I did yet had a cut of meat twice as big as I did - it looked pink and juicy, exactly as I would have wanted. Make sure your line cooks take into consideration the weight of meat when deciding cooking time! Expected better than that. Other than that, a great place."

"I went to Les 400 coups with my husband and two couple of friends. The waiter at first had asked us if we were celebrating a brithday, which we were. He asked who it was. At the end of the service, my friend received a brownies, the recipe and a card signed by the owners of the restaurant. This was very toughfull, she was very happy.
I recommend for the entree, the scallops which were served with a lobster bisque (the best I ever ate) and asparagus. As for the desserts, since the chef is so knowned, we had great expectations, which were all more the exceeded. I took the "mousse à la fève Tonka, sorbet à la carotte et argousier". Just one word, Incredible.
I recommend without any doubt

"Le restaurent est connu pour son chef patissier ayant plusieurs émissions de télé et livre à son actif. Style un peu brasserie chic, assiette très savoureuses, bien préparées, bien présentées. Les desserts à se jeter par terre.

"Très réputé pour ses desserts, les plats principaux n'en manquent pas moins! Omble tendre et parfaitement cuit, posé sur une bisque de homard goûteuse! Les desserts sont des classiques (trop classique) toutefois bien maitrisés avec une touche d'originalité. Le Vert, dessert mélangeant sucré/salé, est le plus audacieux et surprenant..enfin!!"

"Je dois souligner la qualité de notre serveur. Merci Antonin! Des plats goûteux et bien pensé, mais j'ai émis le commentaire que j'aimerais avoir l'impression de manger une portion de légume avec ma viande. J'ai commandé en entrée le tartare de bœuf qui était excellent! Le lapin en plat principal qui m'as déçu pour son manque de verdure (ironiquement). La viande était vraiment bonne, ce n'était pas le problème. Ensuite, les desserts! Une explosion de saveurs! Fantastique! J'y retournerais, mais je demanderais le plat végétarien, s'il y en a un. J'espère qu'ils vont faire attention à la présentation des plats car les légumes, ce n'est pas juste pour faire beau, certains d'entre nous sont assez fous pour en manger! Bonne continuation."

"We had heard a lot of good reviews about this restaurant, but were not overly impressed by our experience compared to other restaurants such as Garde Manger, Club Chasse et Peche, Le Locale. Disappointing for what was supposed to be a fine dining experience."

"This restaurant made the top 10 Canadian new restaurant list in 2011. I have been trying to get a seat on and off for quite a while (they are booked solid quite a few weeks in advance). Tried the tasting menu ($70) with the wine pairing ($40). Both were a smart choice. Highly highly recommend it. Will be back for sure. And I loved the atmosphere. Very unpretentious."

"We booked les 400 coups to celebrate a birthday. Both of us are foodies so we try and find the best restaurants for special occasions. Les 400 Coups was a good choice. Service was excellent, staff knew their menus inside out and the wine list was very interesting. We chose the special tasting menu with wine pairing. A tad pricey, portions were not impressive but it did the job. The lobster in a cider sabayon with crispy chicken skin was out of this world, as were desserts."

"It's a good restaurant, I enjoyed the nice french food, I didn't like the fact that I was asked by staff, to stand outside in -3 degrees & wait for 3 minutes to hail a taxi, many other good restaurants in Montreal have a taxi waiting for you (if you want one) when you are ready to leave... There are a lot of other good restaurants with better service for your buck.."

"Les 400 Coups for lunch was a refreshing and inspirational meal on our visit to Montreal amid the sea of heavy pork laden restaurants that were on our hit list to try...the brussel sprout salad was so fresh and flavourful... the cod was perfectly cooked with a crispy sear with delicious jerusalem artichoke puree . The piece de resistance were Patrice Demer's desserts especially the pot de creme and granita- if only his cookbook was in english! The restrained and refined cooking was a pleasant contrast to our dining experiences at Liverpool House and Au Pied de Cochon. Nex trip back to dine at the classics- Laloux, L'Express and now Less 400 Coups."

"Were comming in a week day so, not crowded at 20h. Order Champagne to start, the spirit was good. Our server was so bad, no smile, as if we were too late or maybe didn't want to finsh late..... Really not pretty... The food was good but not so much imagination in the plates I find. My expectations was maybe too high. For me it's an ok restaurant for a week meal.
Sorry about that but not so great experience and could have been, the outside site is just great..."

"Visiting Montreal for the first time for an anniversary (from the NYC area), and had heard many recommendations for Les 400 Coups. We had a great time. It's a beautiful room, and a super-interesting menu without being precious or off-putting. Also a great value for the quality of the food. Our waiter was sweet but not very attentive - I gave up on ordering dessert when he didn't re-appear for a while. But it was a busy night, and he was very helpful and informative when he was around. Definitely recommended!"

"Somme toute l'expérience fut bonne. Nous avons pris le menu dégustation. La nourriture était très variée; pétoncles, morue, magret. Les recettes contiennent de nombreux ingrédients et il est facile de s'y perdre en ne sachant plus trop ce que nous mangeons...Néanmoins chapeau pour la variété. Les desserts furent notre coup de coeur...un mélange de saveurs et textures incroyables! Je n'hésiterais pas à recommander ce restaurant."
