"Estadio is a tapas bar that tries very hard with its food. Some dishes are excellent (the delightful duck) while others were something of a disappointment (Beet salad).
Nevertheless, the atmosphere is very good, the waiter knowledgeable, and perhaps even more importantly, the gin and tonics were enlightened and pushed the experience up a whole level. We tried two and they were excellent: original flavour combinations, not too sweet and holding on to enough of the bitter character to satisfy, yet so well put together that it appeals to those who don't like gin as well."

"This was our first time at Estadio, and we went for brunch. The halibut was perfectly cooked and we both enjoyed the not-too-sweet french toast dish. We had heard the cocktails were incredible and were pleased they lived up to our expectations - particularly the blueberry and bourbon slushie. I'm just sad I didn't have room for the pastries, as they looked amazing. My only complaint would be the speed of service. Despite it being fairly empty inside, our dishes took quite a while to emerge from the kitchen."

"The Grilled Octopus was a win! The presentation was lovely and it impressed my tastebuds to the fullest. The Spice Chicken with slaw and rice was also fantastic as it had a nice kick, crisp grilled skin, and perfectly moist interior. My boyfriend and I were satisfied with two plates each and sharing the cheesecake with pistachio granola (I would absolutely go back simply for this dish alone). Our server brought wine to sample simply because we expressed interest in the particular blend, and we really enjoyed his presence. It was a wonderful experience and I would recommend Estadio for a date night or small group dinner."

Only complaint is that at one point the waiters apparently decided we had been there long enough and just cleaned off the table without even asking us if we wanted to order more -- which we did. We sat at the bar briefly before going to our table and the bartender was very friendly."

"I brought some friends who were visiting from New York to Estadio for lunch. When they asked what was good on the menu, I said (and genuinely meant), "Everything." They were a bit dubious, but by the time we finished our meal, they agreed. Love this place."

"We had a lot of questions about the food descriptions. It would help if you knew spanish, but even then you might wonder. The waitress was very patient with us and made us feel very comfortable despite our lack of experience with a tapas dining experience. She really knew her menu including the wine to recommend that fit my food choice. Food was cooked to perfection. Highly recommend this place. Nice neighborhood too."

"Everything we ordered was fabulous & our waitress & everyone else there was wonderful. However, the friend I was with does not eat pork. When we ordered the hanger steak, we didn't think it came with pork, but when it arriived, we noticed there were little pieces of pork in the sauce. My friend wouldn't eat it & we suggested to the manager that they indicate on the menu that there is pork in the sauce. The manager was great - She apologized profusely and gave us 2 dishes for free. We love Estadio & we'll be back as soon as possible!"

"Usually small plates are not my thing but here each of the 10 plates (shared by four)was outstanding. The menu is varied and preparation reminiscent of meals in Spain. Wait staff is terrific: efficient, pleasant, responsive. Just be prepared for a long wait."

"Delicious Spanish food-- tapas style. Love sitting at the back bar and watching the chefs prepare the food. The staff is always excellent and knowledgeable. I don't think the sangria is particularly good, but Spanish wine selection is excellent and even the bottles under $40 have been excellent. I've never had anything on the food menu that I didn't enjoy. Everything is always fresh an cooked to perfection. Also, the portions are a perfect size--unlike many other tapas restaurants where they can be quite small. Love Estadio and can't wait to go back!"

"This was our first time at Estadio, and it won't be our last. The food was interesting and varied, and the service was quite good. Estadio is not like many of the other tapas chains. The list of choices was big enough but changes to address what's fresh and in season. As a vegetarian, I was a bit limited in my choices; a lot of the food has bacon or ham in the preparation, as you would expect for a Spanish restaurant. But there was enough on the menu for me to eat, and what I had was yummy. Also, the portion sizes are big enough that you can order one or two things and have a light meal -- another advantage over some of the tapas places that serve a thimble-sized portion."

"We had a delightful evening dining at Estadio. This is a very Spanish tapas restaurant with a variety of interesting dishes at very reasonable prices. Our meal began with a nice selection of olives, manchego chees and delicious bread. We moved on to octopus in a chile sauce, mushroom croquettes and the highlight of the menu - grilled brussel sprouts with pine nuts, carmalized onions and currents. We ended the evening with a delicious selection of three cheeses. Service is very good and the wine prices are reasonable. They offer many wines by the glass so we were able to pair Albarino, and Manzanilla, Amantillado and Olorosso sherries with our food. We barely scratched the surface of the menu so there are many options for future visits."

"This was my first time at a Tapas restaurant. We have eaten it at home (not Spanish, just foodies), so I was familiar with the style and a few of the dishes. The food was excellent and the staff very helpful in choosing items.
We could easily have just let the server choose for us and we'd have been pleased. We did take his recommendation on cheese, vegetable, and steak."

"Estadio has the BEST Tapas in DC, but the ambiance and the staff is what really rounds out the experience and will keep us coming back several times. My wife and I had reservations at 6:00 on a Saturday night (on our anniversary BTW). Unfortunately, traffic and parking delayed us for 40 minutes. When we finally arrived at Estadio, the place was packed...standing room only. To our surprise, they held our reservation, and we were immediately seated. The service was fast and courteous, the food was exceptional, and we were able to make our 8:00 play afterwards. This place is well managed and well staffed - Very Impressed!"

"Highlights included the Brussels sprouts and hanger steak dishes. The cheese cake was disappointing bit then desserts are not a there forte. Our waiter was great -- helpful and attentive. I wish they offered wine flights and a greater variety of desserts."

"Food was outstanding. Service was outstanding. Unfortunately,, the bar was not good. Drinks served with BIG blocks of ice and the small glasses were not even filled up. Also, the same second cocktail tasted very different even though our server insisted it was made by the same bartender. Will go back for the food. It was wonderful. We just won't drink!"

"Estadio came recommended from a friend. We found the ambience nice and the service decent -- but the food & wine were amiss.
Our brussels sprouts arrived burnt to a crisp and drenched in oil. Wild mushrooms, now out-of-season, were tough and overly charred. Their bread was white -- not artisanal in any way -- and stale. Scallops, too, were dripping in oil and cooked a bit too far. Scallions, while a good idea topped with shaved manchego, were more oil than vegetable. Limp and puny. Desserts were uninspired.
We paid $15/glass for the tiniest pour possible -- it was more like a 3 oz. taste. Ridiculous. We prefer our wine in stems, not rocks glasses. This is trendy, but the wine doesn't fill out the glass and aerate properly"

"Estadio is phenomenal. Excellent ingredients form the basis of a strong, varied menu. The crispy Brussels sprouts defy description; roasted wild mushrooms rubbed with hot pepper are surprisinglyemorable. Classic Spanish Tortilla has a little creme fraiche. The place is BUSY but once you have a table the service is fast and the kitchen is well prepared to deal with the volume of guests. The servers know the menu and wines well and they are uniformly helpful.
Don't leave without dessert. The Manchego cheesecake is brilliant and there is a sherry for every taste from nectar sweet to dry and airy."

"The ambience was very fitting for a tapas restaurant. The Spanish style decor was beautiful. The food? Excellent! The creations by the chef were delicious. My favorite dish of the evening was the brussel sprouts. My friend, like many, detests this vegetable. She ate nearly half. Our waiter, Daniel, was great...attentive and knowledgeable of the preparation and taste of the menu items. We plan to return to experience more of the menu."

"Estadio is a very good tapas restaurant, and we'd been there before, but this time tried it for brunch, when it is decidedly less crowded. We had sablefish, which was excellent, but honestly more of a dinnertime item, and we also had the brunch-specific olive oil coffee cake and soft scrambled eggs. Honestly, neither was a standout - the cake being a particular disappointment because it was more brittle than crumbly and had little taste. The eggs, which were just that, eggs, served with nothing else for $10, were exactly what you might expect from a diner for $3. I hate to say it, but the "tapas" style, which is tolerable at dinner, is ridiculous at brunch. Stick with the crowds at dinner - the food is still very expensive, but works."

"On a whim we decided to brunch at Estadio as part of a quick getaway to DC. I had been once before for a business lunch and found that Mark Kuller's attention to detail, on display at Proof, is in full force at Estadio as well. So I was eager to return and was not disappointed. The brunch is infused with the flavors and ambiance of Spain. We were delighted with the biscuits and other pastries, as well as the slow cooked pork. Especially impressive were the drinks, including Lopez Heredia Rioja Blanco 2003 by the glass! (DC, you have NO idea how good you have it sometimes, I swear). Our server was swift, friendly, and efficient."
