"Great lunchtime find. From our reception at the door until we left the staff was attentative. We were there for the blind taste test. That worked out well as we were able to swap entrees and so we were both happy with our choices. The hot and sour soup, chicken and salmon entrees and creme brulee and chocolate brownie desserts were all wonderful. The low lighting and soft music made for a relaxed and comfortable atmosphere. Will definitely return and would recommend Bloom in a heartbeat."

"Bloom provided a great experience, as this is a teaching restaurant. It was neat to see the students learning each part of the meal, from seating to serving to cooking, etc. The food was very different than we're used to, but the mystery made it exciting. Highly recommended."

"I brought a group of some people who have been before but most had not. Great price for what you got and my meal was very yummy. I tried my friends meal but I found the carrot curry soup too thick, great taste but not really soup consistency. The pork tenderloin was overcooked but honestly that is one of the hardest meats to cook and for the price and knowing its students it was still pretty good. Service was excellent too !"

"This was our second time to have lunch at Bloom. This time we brought another couple with us. They were impressed to see that a room at Conestoga, Waterloo Campus was set up like a restaurant and they liked the idea of helping the students "practice their craft". The buffet choices were okay but would have been better set up away from the kitchen. Our waitress was very friendly and eager to help."

"This was our first time at Bloom. It was an excellent dining experience. The menu was Chef's choice and everything that we were served was exceptional. Since this is a culinary school, you have to be willing to overlook the "small stuff" and appreciate that this is where the students learn their craft. We plan to be regulars . . . for sure!"

Room was lit perfectly.
Food: under seasoned; cuttlefish seafood salad; ingredients cooked well but dish needed an acid component. Missing was lemon, vinegar, garlic and/or tomatoes. Very bland. Lemon wedges should have been accompanying the dish.
Manicotti with spinach. Again no flavours. Needed garlic, onions and fresh herbs. The tomato based sauce on top was the best part of dish.
The trio of desserts was ok. Gelato and chocolate cake with sauce were good. Tiramisu cake tasteless...looked beautiful though. Maybe a little artificial rum flavour would have added a little interest."

"We reserved at bloom for Italian Trattoria that was on the menu during March. Their dining plan was changed for that evening and we were told that the food would instead be "tapas-style" consisting of a number of set appetizers and mains for $24. We enjoyed all the different culinary creations made by the students which included crab, scallops, salmon, pork, lamb, duck, beef, all kinds of vegetables, and rice. There was a lot of food as some of the items were like regular-sized entrees. Service was prompt and attentive with appropriate checks for drink refills, etc.
We plan to dine at Bloom again, hopefully during the students' testing week. We're looking forward to another delicious "surprise"!"

"One thing I would add is that the menu options presented at our table were not the same as those online. As a vegetarian, I specifically chose this week because they had a veg option. When I got there, there were none, the spinach and ricotta manicotti turned into Goat cheese ravioli with bolognese sauce. The menu should be updated as changes are made. The dessert (red velvet cake) was a little dry and overdone with flavour. It had a strawberry, mango and blueberry couli. I would suggest one, not all.
Great service. The students are wonderful and always asking if we needed anything. I love the table side bartender."

"the only thing to mar our experience was when my wife's beef came, it was rarer than she would have liked. I don't remember the waitress asking how we wanted it done, which she would have chosen as well done. Otherwise, staff were friendly and helpful and food, as always, was delicious. "Always a pleasure to visit Bloom. Food was wonderful and always prepared with care. On this visit however we found that our young 1st year student was unprepared to answer questions regarding beer, wine and had a hard time just getting the words out. He was very nervous. Said it was his 1st time on the floor so Im sure he will do fine in time. We will be back to visit Bloom and to partake the wonderful food that the students prepare."

"This is my second time to bloom at Conestoga College. Both times I have been very impressed by not only the service, but also the quality of food created by the culinary students. The presentation of the food has always been very beautiful, and the taste is amazing. The value for the money is beyond amazing! The service is good, as many are still learning, and seem very nervous around the adults who have come to eat (they appear a little more at ease when serving their peers). No need to worry, as I will be returning soon!"

"The dinner we shared as a family was truly enjoyable. The celery soup was tasty, the salmon was delicious, the lobster mac and cheese was quite good. "Wait staff were attentive,tried hard (their first dinner menu).Entree plates should have been heated;it would have helped retain the heat of the food. Potatoes were listed as rosti, but were not- they were mashed & shaped, & barely warm. I mentioned to the waiter that the pototes were not hot. He hurried away but didn't return, or offer to reheat them. Scallops were nice but not hot, nor was the cream sauce they were served on. Pheasant appetizer was very tough-(my son could not swallow it).Greek salad was nice-very fresh. Boar schnitzel-enjoyed it but thought the portion small. Waiter forgot to serve chocolate truffles that other tables received until reminded (after cheque was brought). Web site only showed pub menu;which is why we came"

"Bloom. was delicious and the atmosphere was fantastic, as a first time diner and as a student who took the program and worked in Bloom. I had a great time and will definitely be coming back. I will recommend it to everyone as a hidden gem in waterloo."
