"It's been many years since we've eaten at Alexander's, but out of town guests asked for something special. Cocktails were nothing special, but service was top drawer. The salad was fresh w just a hint of dressing ...my wife noticed also. But the entre was one of those memorable dining experiences. It must be the mark of a superb chef to create something entirely new with the humble chicken. However, the pecan encrusted chicken breast was stunning...dinner conversation abruptly stopped at the first bite and all at the table were forced to share this diner's fare. Each succeeding morsel was cut into smaller and smaller pieces in order to extend the experience..lest it be over too soon. An exquisite meal to remember for a long time."

"We went to Alexander's for our anniversary and it was wonderful. The food was excellent and the service was superior. The waitress was very helpful with food suggestions and pairings. The ambiance was good. As more people began to come into the restaurant the noise level increased and it was a little hard to talk and hear others in your party. Alexander's is a great place for a special occasion."

"This was our first vist to this restaurant. The food and the service was great. We went on a Wed. night and there were only 4 other people there so the atmosphere lacked a little. We do plan on going back on a weekend night. Overall we were very pleased."

"Having lived in Paris for almost 10 years now, and generally well travelled bur loyal Virginians, we kept our expectations modest in making reservations at this positively reviewed restaurant in Roanoke, where we were staying the night at the Hotel Roanoke. Alexander's turned out to be one of the finest dining experiences we can ever remember. It was really quite close to perfection, and without the slightest pretention. Whenever we're in Virginia, we will now plan a trip to Roanoke simply to return to Alexander's. This is Michelin star quality, rest assured."

"Superb evening from opening to closing. Our table shAred the bbq shrimp with sauces
And bread (yes, you must dip!). Salads were a refreshing respite. Entrees were wonderfully prepared. The duck breast was moist
And savory, the striped bass delightful (especially the essence of wasabi in the sauce), pecan encrusted chicken fabulous and the shrimp ( yes more shrimp!) spicy and nice. Service was outstanding. We in Roanoke have wonderful restaurants and Alexander's is the best!"

"Alexander's was once again, fantastic!!!
My girlfriend and I have been there several times on special occasions at it has always been great!
The food was unquestionably the best part: delicious, unique, original, and the perfect portion size!
The service was not perfect this time (they appeared to be a little short staffed). However, they more than made up for it with their additional efforts. It was my girlfriend's birthday, and without notifying them, they brought out some complimentary champagne, and lit a candle to blow out with our dessert. It was very, very nice!
I would highly recommend this to anyone and everyone."

"Was traveling on business and found this little gem on Open Table so gave it a try. It's situated in the historic downtown of Roanoke so walking there was a cool experience and ambiance was great. Service was exactly how I like it - not at all rushed so you could enjoy a leisurely meal. Would be great for a date or just a nice night with friends and conversation. Suggestions from the server were top notch and really made the experience. I could not decide between two entrees and she pointed out one was available as a small plate option so could be an appetizer. Even though small plates technically ended at 7pm they accommodated me. Best lamb I've ever eaten. May return here on vacation just to try it again."

"The table was lovely and, because of the location, felt like a private dining room. We were greeted, coats taken and seated promptly. Reservation had included our theater information, the service staff remarked on our time constraint, obviously informed of reservation note. Wine recommendations were requested and provided, the meals were all delicious. The atmosphere is serene without being oppressive, allowing conversation to flow. When our checks were presented, our coats magically appeared at the front. No coat checks or questions. Really lovely service."

"The service at Alexander's is comparable to some of the best restaurants I have been around and outside the US. The atmosphere is casual elegant, and you will feel at home, even during your first visit. The menu has a variety of items that would satisfy even some of the most difficult Foodies. The dishes are done as to ensure that every bite will charge your tastebuds and forces you to pay attention to the details of every bite you take. I would recommend this restaurant and it slowly has become one of my favorites in my new home town."
