"Very over priced food and grey veal piccata speciality was somewhat undesirable with that color and tasteless. Crab claws were good but $25 for 1/2 lb come on and the desserts were sad portions for their price ..... first and last time on the same trip. Scratch this one off my list ...I was expecting something good from three meals but sadly disappointed!"

"Not that the food was overpriced, but the atmosphere was far less thrilling for the price. The main thing that ruined the experience for me was the food on the floor under the table and on other areas of the dining room. I've been there a few times and enjoyed the visit. This time was definitely different and less satisfying. Maybe they just had a bad day."

"Their Pappardelle Bolognese is honestly the best pasta I've ever had. My wife ordered the Dry Aged Beef Tenderloin and though slightly undercooked was very tasty along with subtlely flavored garlic mashed potatoes and zucchini hash. The atmosphere was quiet and reserved, making it ideal for conversation. We will definitely be back"

"I regularly visit top restaurants throughout the Birmingham area. I was expecting Daniel George to be near the same level as Hot and Hot, Bottega, Highlands, Veranda, or even Little Savannah. I'm sorry to say that they are not even close.
The food was the real disappointment. The appetizer (Calamari ~$15) was the best part of the meal. Lightly breaded and cooked for the right amount of time to avoid chewiness. I had a grilled Romaine salad (~$12). It was literally 3 pieces of Romaine, 3 kalamata olives (halved), a small amount of roasted red peppers, and a very bland dressing. I had the Colorado Lamb (~$42) for dinner. It was meant to be Med-Rare and it was Med-Well and VERY fatty. Moving forward, I will take a late reservation elsewhere"

"Appealing, and understated, ambiance. Beautifully lit with natural light. Friendly, yet low key staff. Appreciated the two-tier pricing on entrees, based on size. Half and half -- sauteed/fried -- crab claws were scrumptious. Wine list was approachable for folks like me; choices were yummy. Dessert, split between the two of us, was perfect. Lime sorbet with salted caramel (on the bottom), and shaved coconut. Will return!"

"Excellent place for a delectable dinner when suburban options bore. Upscale, professional crowd with top-notch wait staff. The food couldn't be any fresher or better prepared. Excellent restaurant."

"My husband and I decided to have dinner here to celebrate a special occasion. The food was wonderful. The server was knowledgable of the food and of the wine list. We were able to find a bottle of wine to fit both of our palates. I would definitely go back."

"We will not ever be eating there again. We had not been in 4 years. We spent $200 and my husbands duck was not cooked at all. He likes his meat rare too but it was cold and dangerous to even attempt to eat. My fish was cold. We will not recommend this place to anyone."

"This is a nice place to have dinner with your friends. Some of the other nice restaurants in town are too noisy for us. Our appetizers of sauteed crab claws were just okay. We have had them before and they were wonderful. Our entrees were delicious. A word to the wise- when the say "small plate" they mean it :) It is an appetizer portion not a small dinner portion. Great service!"

"We enjoyed a nice quiet romantic dinner at Daniel George. The food was very well executed. Sometimes simple things (like the Cheese Sampler Appetizer) executed well are very powerful. Loved the Pan Seared Grouper and my wife loved the Tanglewood Farms Chicken. We look forward to returning soon."

"This was the first time we tried dg for lunch. At first glance, the lunch menu appeared a bit limited, and I was surprised by the meet-and-three concept at such a sophisticated restaurant. When the food arrived, however, it was delicious (the glazed carrots were exceptional). In addition, the muted noise level at this restaurant provides an ideal setting for a business lunch."

"I frequently dine here with friends and I'm never disappointed. The food was excellent as always from appetizer to dessert. I'm watching my weight so I ordered the half size entree but after one bite wished I'd forgotten my diet and ordered the full size portion. I always love eating at DG"

"This is my 2nd try at this restaurant-made reservations for my husbands birthday-arrived 10 minutes early. A couple ahead of us at the hostess desk had not made reservations but were obviously regulars -said they didn't want to "displace anyone" and could come back another time. The hostess said no problem she would move someone and put this couple at the last table for 2. While I realize this happens all the time it would be best if the hostess was a little more observant and notice that the 2 people she was moving were standing right there. Naturally when we stepped up there was not a table ready for us and ended up sitting at a large table between 2 tablets of 6 people-very loud. The food was good-service good-not great for the price"

"Understated and elegant atmosphere. Service was prompt, knowledgable, and friendly. Not snooty feeling, like some restaurants of this kind. The food was wonderful. Interesting without being pretentious. It's intent was to taste good rather than impress with its cutting-edge ingredients. I will definitely make it one my new Birmingham hang-outs."

"The hostess was overwhelmed by her duties and seemed disinterested in getting our party seated. Once we were finally seated, our server was friendly and eager to get our order taken. The downside came when we were served our food. Both orders were wrong and had to go back to the kitchen.
Overall they did a pretty good job."
