"We did Mothers Day 2013. Reservations via Open Table made in advance, Our time was 7PM and we were immediately seated where we had asked on our reservation, outside. Parking was close by and had special rates for Sunday. My better half had wanted to try out this eatery and we, along with our two teenage daughters, were very pleased with everything. It was more romantic outside. The seating was cozy and cushioned. We enjoyed the low lighting (candle), the ambience, the quick and professional service. The fare was fabulous and abundant. Bread was offered thruout the meal. Our wine was delicious also; we are Merlot/Cab affectianados. I would highly recommend this as a romantic dining opportunity."

"I had made reservations to go to Brasserie Du Vin before a concert at the Hawaii Theatre. On the way there, we encountered horrible traffic (found out there was an accident earlier, go figure), so I called the restaurant to let them know we'd be about 15-20 minutes late. In actuality, we ended up being about 35 minutes late ... no problem, they sat us right away! I was so happy, I thought for sure we blew it and we'd have to wait.
The restaurant was very cute, and dinner was very nice. All four of us had different entrees, and we were all very pleased with our food. We've lived here for a few years now & have always talked about trying Brasserie Du Vin ... we would definitely like to go back again to try some of the other dishes."

"Very nicely decorated. There is a portion of the restaurant that is open air and the decor makes you feel as though you are at an outdoor cafe in France. The food is great. I recommend the roasted pork chop or braised lamb shank. A must is the authentic Chocolate Soufflé. It is the real deal and not just some fancy, rich cake posing as a soufflé. I commend the bartender. I ordered a Sidecar but it was mixed differently from what I am used to. It seemed weak. The bartender came over and asked how our drinks were and I mentioned this politely. He came back and mixed up another drink more to my preference. I thought that was a nice touch and he went beyond to ensure a happy patron. I definitely will be back."

"Had reservations for 5 adults, but were seated on two small benches. The benches were difficult to get into. I was on the 3-person side and it was difficult to eat because there was not enough room. Asked to move, but were told that the restaurant was booked up, so we had to stay where we were. The food definitely did not make up for it. Lobster Eggs benedict: lobster overcooked and didn't seem fresh, and there was very little hollandaise sauce; the whole dish was very dry. Short ribs over risotto: the risotto was terrible! It was overcooked and way too mushy and flavorless! So disappointed by this experience. I had great dining experiences with this restaurant in the past and wanted to treat my mom, but now I'll never eat there, again."

"We went for Mother's Day Brunch and their food was exceptional. The escargots were good and the baked Brie was great. We had the roasted beet salad that was also very good and the lobster eggs Benedict. It was a little snapshot of France in downtown Honolulu."

"Celebrated Admin Prof week and it was a first time for most of the group. Service was good, food was a very good value and nice selection. Only downside was the heat - it was very warm inside. Maybe we'll sit outside next time! Affogado was to die for!"

"came here for lunch one day and it's something different. i had the jidori chicken sandwich which was good but since i hate celery, i picked out every tiny piece before eating. service was decent and we were checked up on a couple of times. i should check this place out for happy hour."

"Got there, no hostess at the front. No menus at the front. Tiny little table was wobbly, we had to rig it ourselves because no one came to the table for a good 5-10 minutes. Got noticed by a server, could tell he wasn't expecting to have anyone sitting there. Brings the drink list, but no water. No pork chops, our fault for going late. French onion soup was okay. Pommes frites were nowhere near 'herbed,' tasted like fast food. Beet salad was way overdressed, couldn't taste a thing besides vinaigrette. Pot Au Feu special was okay, was more soup than stew. Duck confit was very good and crispy, but the lentils were bland. Had to actually ask someone to clear the table at one point when we ran out of space. Checked back on us once."

"The courtyard is very nice, but gets quite warm and stuffy at lunchtime and could use some vent fans to keep the air moving. Service was adequate, but somewhat inattentive. With a name like Brasserie du Vin I expected a more imaginative wine list. Overall, very pleasant and unique to Honolulu and I'll return, but not more than twice a year probably."

"I don't take the opportunity for fine dining very often and was happy to chose Brasserie du Vin for a date that I had been trying to set up for months.
We were seated promptly and the space was inviting. The food was also served fairly quickly and was decent although I do think my duck was slightly overcooked and therefore a little dry.
However, the entire evening was a disappointment due to the incredibly bad (or lack of) service on behalf of the server. He did not check in once the entire evening to see if we needed anything and I have no idea what his name was as he never introduced himself. The worst factor was that I ordered a bottle of wine for dinner which arrived AFTER our entire meal was completed with no apology."

"Wow! This is the best ________. You fill in the blank. You really can't go wrong. By far my favorite dining experience since landing in Hawaii over a week ago. The food is great, bar is great, service is great, and what a great atmosphere. We were lucky enough to have the restaurant GM as our server."

"My husband and I had the mussels and frites for appetizer, pork chop and risotto for main course, creme brulee for dessert. They were prepared very well we were very happy. Service is also worth mentioning, the staff delivered good detailed service. We will definitely go back again."

"I've eaten at Du Vin a number of times but was disappointed this time. The server forgot water and bread even though we asked for it, didn't tell us the specials, then finally when we asked for them didn't describe them accurately, and brought the wrong food in the wrong order. He seemed like a nice guy, but his mess-ups made for a less than ideal dinner."

"This was the first time here and we were glad we made it. The food came out in a timely matter. I had the lamb shank and the wife had the seafood stew. We shared each others plates and finished it all. This normally doesn't happen but the food was so good. The only con I really had was the noise level. Once the group next to us left we had a little more enjoyable evening."

The fish special (hebi) was very overcooked and chewy. The fish in the bouillabaisse was the same. The food at this restaurant has been consistently good, over the years. The fish this time, was a disappointment."

"Had an amazing seafood stew and my wife had the duck. The only downside was an extremely loud and obnoxious group seated right near us. One of the best meals we ever had!"

"In the heart of Honolulu's Chinatown lies many dining secrets. This is one secret that should definitely be let out. You'll feel as if you were taken to another country as you are nestled in a quaint outdoor cafe like setting. The service was personal and the food was a pleasure to the palette. From a great selection of wines and cocktails to the exceptional entrees and desserts, I enjoyed every minute of the dining experience here. It was my first time there as well as my visiting friend from Singapore and we both left smiling and most importantly, happily full. It was a great setting for dinner for two but also looks to be a great happy hour hangout. I'll have to comeback and see."

"Brasserie Du Vin is one of my favorite places. They have an extensive wine list, and great happy hour specials. We love every dish we tried - and we tried a lot. But the appetizers not to miss are the mussels and the baked brie.
I took my girlfriend for the first time, and she said that she was already planning date night with her husband for next week!"

"My wife and I were pleasantly surprised. It is not top-end fine French dining, but it is delicious, competently prepared good French food at a reasonable price. The lanai in back is delightful and the service was exactly where they needed to be, attentive and quick, not obsequious. It stands out in Honolulu, and we'll be back."
