"This is a reasonably priced restaurant with very mediocre food. Given its high ratings in other reviews, we were quite disappointed. We cannot see any reason to return."

"Visited for lunch today based on other diners' reviews. Decor was much like an old diner. I expected better. Menu was very limited. We order mussels and steak with fries. Food was just ok, not special. Wine was expensive and mediocre. My sparkling wine had obviously been opened a while as it was flat. Didn't make a fuss as so as not to embarrass my guess, but won't go back."

"This restaurant is like a little bit of France. The bistro food is well-prepared and the ambiance is traditional and fun. It was quite busy when we were there - packed, yet the service was still very good. Can't wait to try some of the other dishes."

"Took my wife here for her birthday because she wanted French food. We had the mussels, daube and shrimp risotto. Food is just OK. I would not consider it fine dining but more like a casual neighborhood place. I never had to add salt in any restaurants before but here I had to add salt because otherwise things tasted bland. Service was slow and not attentive. Interesting specials, but I don't think we will be back."

"Wonderful, succulent mussels with crisp but hot and tender fries. Much like a real French bistro because it is a real French bistro! Althoughh we were half an hour late, they still ahad our reserved table waiting...that's a nice touch. The daube is also excellent...full of rich flavor and fork tender."

"We were looking for a low-key restaurant with good food to celebrate a big bonus at work for the hubby, and Rendez Vous Cafe was the perfect place. We had the French Onion Soup, which was quite good (albeit a little bit peppery for my taste). For entrees, Hubby had the Daube (a traditional French beef dish), which was hearty and filling - we would definitely order this again. I had the Shrimp Risotto - it had about 6 medium to small grilled shrimp, and there were mushrooms in the risotto. Probably wouldn't order this dish again. Lots of tables around us ordered mussels, which we may try next time. For dessert, we ordered Creme Brulee, which was delicious. Service was great, not overbearing at all, casual ambiance. Would visit again!"

"My friend and I went for lunch. I had made a reservation through Open Table and our table was ready when I arrived a few minutes early. We had a nice table.
Both of us had the Cobb Salad with Shrimp. It was very good and both of us had nothing left on our plates when we were done."

"This informal French bistro is a delightful change from upscale, minimalist, sharp-edged modern cafes. The owner is omni-present, working hard and being charming; staff is always easy. No pretensions. Good wine and mussels, steak frites, nightly specials, and a good, quick menu for those going to the Albany Theater for a movie. Save time for the crepes!"

"Fantastic brunch menu. Didn't know they did brunch. Great outdoor seating so my daughter could bring her pooch. Definitely will do weekend brunch there again."

"Perhaps Valentine's Day is an unfair day to evaluate any restaurant. The restaurant seemed understaffed for the size of the crowd (every table taken at 6:15 pm). Still, it is a wonderful neighborhood place for that mid-week treat"

"We've been to the restaurant twice now and plan to return soon. The variety of food offered was good and the dishes we have ordered have been prepared well. The appetizer of mussels was delicious, and the Daube with Mashed Potatoes was outstanding. We had mixed reviews on the Rack of Lamb with the lamb being a bit too well done. However we are eager to go again. With the small community movie theatre next door, it makes a great local spot for a delicious meal and a movie too!"

"I think this is a little gem of a restaurant. I haven't come across a place like this before. I really like the fact that it won't cost you a arm and a leg to dine here. There are items on the menu you won't find elsewhere. I like the fact also that you have a server that is from France and speaks the language. That makes for a nice addition."

"The restaurant was packed. It was valentines day, so I'm not sure if the service was slow because they weren't prepared for the number of guests or if the service was slow because its typical of a restaurant in France. If we weren't in a hurry, the slow service would have been fine. Some of the tables, ours included, were served food that was cold. If we'd sent the food back, most of us would have finished dinner before the returned food would have been reserved warm. I'd be willing to go back again because the food was delicious."

"First lunch at this lovely little dinner spot. Almost a warm enough day to eat outside. Smaller selection than at dinner but something for everyone's taste. Love the food here - simple French bistro food at its best."
