Restaurant Reviews for Morimoto New York

Morimoto New York reservations Morimoto New York

88 10th Avenue
New York, NY 10011

Morimoto is the New York City interpretation of Executive Chef Masaharu Morimoto’s namesake Philadelphia restaurant that is co-owned with restaurateur Stephen Starr. Designed by world renowned architect Tadao Ando, the restaurant’s entrance features the world’s largest Japanese Noren curtain set against a massive façade of austere steel. Inside is an extraordinary open kitchen surrounded by a 24-seat sushi bar where diners can watch Morimoto and his chefs at work. On every level of the restaurant guests enjoy the elaborate menu where East meets West. Glass partitions create a private atmosphere between tables and a wall made of 17,000 spring water bottles add a touch of New York drama to this tranquil atmosphere. Guests have the option to dine on the top floor or congregate in the lower lounge for cocktails and snacks.

Review 3 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Excellent food. Everyone at our table of seven enjoyed the multi-course tasting menu. Toro Tartare was our first course, and everyone enjoyed it. Fluke prepared in hot oil was next and was thoroughly enjoyed as well. The presentation of the entrees that followed were as spectacular as the food was to taste. Everything was top notch ans worth every penny spent."

Review 5 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Good location, with easy walk from 14th St. subway. Our table was ready when we arrived. Service was excellent, waitress friendly and attentive, but never intrusive. "Adult beverage" offerings adequate for most any taste. Menu was very comprehensive, and had sufficient variety for almost any palate. Ordered various items from soup, hot appetizers, entrees, and dessert, and each was presented hot from the kitchen. I would rate the quality of the food very highly. It's by no means cheap (almost $220 for a party of two, one of whom doesn't drink), but that was fully expected and is not offered as a criticism, just a heads-up. Seated in a small side room called the South SDR(?), so noisy conversation almost impossible. Stay away from that room!"

Review 8 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"I had high expectations given the great zagat's rating. Maybe I didn't order well or should have stuck to sushi but the shrimp tempura appetizer was too greasy and the duck entree was heavy and boring. The highlight was the chocalate tart for dessert. Hands down amazing. I would give it another try and stick to the sushi next time."

Review 13 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"My boyfriend and I are big fans of Iron Chef and Iron Chef America so he brought me to Morimoto for my birthday. The meal we shared is now in my top 10 dinners of all time. Best dish was the ten hour pork. It's served with crunchy sweet potato crisps on top and is extremely tender and flavorful. Don't skip dessert - we tried the two dessert specials of the day (a chocolate/caramel tower of sorts and a gourmet strawberry shortcake).

Eclectic crowd that ranged from businessmen in suits to college kids in jeans. Staff was friendly but not pushy, which is always nice. Definitely worth the trek to 10th Avenue!!

Review 15 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"The food was exceptional and the service was great. The sushi slices were cut properly and the rice was perfectly seasoned. The hamachi tartare was unique and I highly recommend it if you are a sashimi fan. The steak from my surf and turf was cooked properly and at the correct temperature. The hamachi from the surf and turf was unlike any other as it was mixed with their homemade guacamole. This was very different and must be tried if you enjoy the two."

Review 16 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"We flew into New York City and had trouble getting to the city. I tried to move my reservation but was unable to change the time. We headed strait to the restaurant from the airport and they were kind enough to check our luggage.

We had the Omakase and the Beverage Omakase paring. Which is the chef's taste menu. It was a great Birthday treat. The food was wonderful. We did ask for the name of the wines, and in the excitement left without the list. Hopefully we can find them.

Thank you for helping us and setting the stage for a wonderful birthday weekend.

Review 18 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"I thought the food was good but not great. Given the reputation and star quality of Chef Morimoto, I can say that I was a bit disappointed. Not as good as other top restaurants in NY or as good as the restaurants owned by other celebrity chefs in the city. Overall, I thought the food was unimaginative and not that flavorful. Desserts were excellent."

Review 19 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"This was a fantastic dining experience! I took my boyfriend for his birthday and we could not have been happier. The restaurant itself is not just gorgoues, but fascinating to look at and watch as people are walking on different levels, glass walls between tables, open kitchen, and at least 5 people came to our table during the night, making the service more than friendly. Our waiter was both knowledgeable, specific, and meticulous, but also had a great sense of humor. The food was delicious, impeccable. However, it's not that each of the three elements, design, service, food, were fantastic, it was that all three were always part of the experience the whole time. A MUUST!!!"

Review 22 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"It would be nice to have Chef Morimoto prepare this meal. Sashimi was very high quality but pricey; after all it is NYC. The sashimi salad was a re-interpreted Cesar salad presented nicely. But the seared ahi was quite salty so didn't bother using the Cesar dressing (Saltiness was subdued by the tomatoes and romaine lettuce)."

Review 23 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"I chose the omasake, or tasting menu. A few things really stood out on the tasting menu, including the oyster foie gras, fluke sashimi, and the Wagyu strip which is part of the surf and turf entrée. The very expensive ($28) toro tartare was okay, but I'd never, ever pay $28 for that. Unfortunately, the dessert -- a blood orange tiramisu -- was stale. Neither I nor my companion finished it.

If I ordered everything à la carte from the regular menu it would've been about $150-$160 (can't be exact since I don't know one of the prices). The omasake was $120, however to me as a diner, it was worth about $80. I recommend ordering what you like and skipping the omasake...and skipping the dessert.

"With high expectations (our favorite Iron Chef) we made this reservation and unfortunately we have to say, that the food was not as good as we expected. Review 26 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Although we'd dined at Morimoto previously, this was the first time we tried the omakase. It was fabulous and well worth the cost! Unlike most tasting menus, where every course is small, there were lots of smaller, but not tiny, courses and one "main course" that was full size. I thought it was a bit too much, though those with heartier appetites might be very pleased. The room is beautiful, we had an excellent table and service was wonderful. When I was unable to finish dessert, the manager came to ask if I didn't like it and wanted a substitution. I was just overstuffed."

N.y morimotos served me undercooked food and when I mentioned this to our waiter he Agreed with me thAt it looked undercooked and just made severAl excuses for the cooks...Very disapointing and I will never visit this place in n.y Again.. Review 36 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"We started out with some drinks; woman had a Lychee-tini which was delicious and I had a White Lily, both were amazing. For appetizers, we ordered: bbq eel and avocado roll, soft shell crab roll, the half dozen oysters, and tuna pizza. The rolls were fresh, but nothing I have not tasted before. The oysters were delicious while the tuna pizza was out of this world with a spicy mayo based sauce. For entrees, she had Angry chicken, which was on a spicy side but very tasty while I had surf and turf, with wagyu steak with hamachi ribbons in an avocado salad and small potatoes. Delicious. We finished the night with 2 desserts: a warm chocolate cake and a torte. Both delicious. We will definitely be back again."

Review 37 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Overall experience was very pleasant - food was exquisite, service was amazing. The only problem is pretty loud music, not something you would want to hear while enjoying a meal, but more of a clubbing style. It also was a bit too loud, sometimes we had to lean toward one another to hear what we were saying. Other than that, this is a place to come back to."

"Me and my girlfriend both got the Omakase. Get it, for the love of food, get it. Every dish is perfectly portioned and delicious beyond anything you can imagine. Morimoto is a certified food genius, no question. Quite simply the best Japanese restaurant I've been to, seconded closely by Morimoto Philadelphia."

Review 39 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"I went to this restaurant with some colleagues on a trip to New York. We all had a fantastic experience. One of my co-workers ordered the black cod, which she proclaimed to be the best fish she had ever eaten. The Ramen was also good - not as good as what you would find in Japan, but still tasty. Also, the ten hour pork hot appetizer(kikuni) was amazing! I definitely recommend ordering it. My one gripe about the food was that I thought the maki rolls were good, but not remarkable - I've definitely had better in both New York and Chicago (where I'm from). However, the co-worker that I shared it with thought it was outstanding. We will definitely be visiting this restaurant again. So so so delicious!"

"Service did not match my $120 tasting menu. The first three courses were coming so fast, looked like they needed my table fast for the next customer. When you order a bottle of red wine, you should not have to ask to get a red wine glass instead of a white wine glass to drink your wine...Food is good but not out of this world. yes, the restaurant is all white, nothing on walls it's like an emmergency room."

Review 41 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"I took my husband here for his birthday and Valentine's Day. We had reservations, but still had to wait approximately 30 minutes for a table. I don't eat fish, but there was enough vegetarian items for me and plenty for him to choose from. I had ramen soup, two types of vegetable sushi, and hazlenut sesame layer cake for dessert. My husband ordered shrimp tempora and two types of sushi. Everything was very tasty and extremely fresh. I would return to this restaurant."

"Awesome food! Everyone says that is is expensive, I didn't feel that it was. We had 3 apps 2 entrees and a pot of mango tea for 110.00. Very trendy, in the very trendy meatpacking district. Atmosphere was comfortable and beautiful. Will definatley go back! Try the rock shrimp for an app and the sea bass for an entree. Both were outstanding!"

Review 48 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"This was our first experience at Morimoto. We ordered from the appetizer and main course list and then dessert. Everything was excellent with the Sesame-Hazelnut torte for dessart a particular surprise. Service was perfect from the waiter to busboy to manager who stopped by twice to make sure all was well. One warning - a diner at the next table ordered a $70 sushi assortment. He had a lot to eat (enough for two), but absolutely nothing different that what I get in my favorite Buffalo, NY sushi restaurant."

Review 49 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"This high quality restaurant is filled with fun and flare. Everything from the wine list to the main dishes were delightful. There was a wonderful level of energy that swept through the entire restaurant that was so inviting and especially exciting for any special occasion. My thoughts on the service: excellent. The food was quite good, except the dessert was mostly bland and uneventful. Overall, Morimoto is a wonderful experience that one wouldn't want to miss while visiting the city that never sleeps."

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I have enjoyed Morimotos in Philly and NYC several times. The tuna pizza and king crab is a great start for groups. They accommodated us on a busy night when we wanted to add two to our group and that made the night so much fun. The service is always good and some of the same folks have been there for over a year. That make the service so much better. The Duck, Duck, Duck is a great dish. I will go again and again!"

Review 53 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"The 7 course menu is very tasty and the courses beautifly presented, specially the sashimi and the oyster courses. The main course was a complete dissapointment. First, it was a surf & turf ( not so suited for a celebrity chef) the beef was very good but the sweet potatoes were to big and really competed with the sutil flavor of the beef. Too much cremè fraiche for the lobster.
Is expensive, so tasting the variety of sashimis and then a great steak is better than the menu.
Service was perfect!

"In short the food was excellent. The specialty drinks were creative and delicious. My wife had the "White Lilly," and while I would classify it as a "girly" drink because of the sweetness it was nonetheless very tasty. It tasted like a lemon sorbet.
Our server was attentive and very knowledgeable about the food. Great experience.

Review 61 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"The omakase tasting menu offered a great variety that showcased Morimoto's fusion of traditional Japanese with French and other cuisines. The many kinds of seafood and the Wagyu beef were excellent. In particular, the seared hirame sashimi in soy and sesame oil with micro greens was just a perfect plate. The flight of sake was a great compliment to the meal. Expensive, but a wonderful dinner for a special occasion."

Review 64 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"The kitchen may have been entirely off when we visited (Friday, 2/12), but our meal was horrendous. Taste, texture, temperature, visual appeal and even ease of consumption were all lacking. Example: a mushroom, topped by a cooked oyster, topped by a tiny piece of foie gras, with a brown sauce: first imagine what this pile looked like (a pile of brown in a little white bowl). The sauce was so strong on salt and umami that I literally was thrown back in my chair: it tasted like thinned Marmite and overwhelmed even the foie gras. The textures were terrible together. The seared fluke, thinly sliced, was a messy plate and lukewarm, rather than chilled inside and warm where seared. The Wagyu beef was destroyed by over-cooking. A total disaster."

"No detail is spared at Morimoto, including service. Upon arrival of each dish, the server presented it specifying the main ingredients & flavors. Each dish looked gorgeous as well, with delicious flavors exciting my palate. The food was inspired and outright amazing while drinks were just as creative and flavorful. Shrimp that melted in our mouths, perfectly seasoned/cooked fish and steak, scrumptious appetizers, original cocktails, EVERYTHING was amazing. I really cannot give Morimoto enough praise, the dining experience was top notch and we felt like stars with the very friendly and attentive treatment we were given. In addition, the environment is visually stunning and a nice contrast from the every day; the music is the cherry on top!"

Review 70 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"My girlfriend and I went for lunch, and really enjoyed ourselves. Although we intially thought we'd have sushi, the waitress suggested we be more adventurous, and so we split two dishes- a marinated beef dish with egg on rice (yum) and angry chicken- with a spicy sauce- quite good. While I don't think it was a good as Nobu, despite all the hype, it was an enjoyable experience, and I would return."

Review 71 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Unlike many restaurants in NY, this restaurant remembers that you are keeping them in business and despite an area of town where attitude rules, the service was unbelievably good and servers patient and gracious. We ordered the omakase which was worth every penny for the uniqueness, presentation and above all fresh and innovative ingredients. I have been to a majority of what are commonly referred to as top rated sushi places in NY and this very much stands out as one of the best combined experiences I've had."

Review 76 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 1.0 out of 5 (Poor)
"I tried the restaurants' week menu for lunch. I was totally disappointed. This fair should be a good opportunity to promote the restaurant. However, the set up for this special feature at Morimoto was poor. It only made us not to come back there again. The combination of the prefix menu was not proper, and the contents did not worth for the price. For example, Beef Gyudon would be better at Yoshinoya at much reasonable price. The fish burger plate was no difference of that is at McDonald's."

Review 77 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"Hmmm...What to say after all the accolades....

This was a restaurant week lunch that was disappointing after hearing so much about this restaurant.

The main courses a Tuna Sashimi salad and Fire Chicken were lovely.
The panna cotta was an unimaginative minimalist dessert.

"We loved the decor and my food was incredible. But my friend was upset that there wasn't a vegetarian option for the restaurant week menu. Our waiter wasn't as "resourceful" (or interested) in making my friend happy w her menu. He also forgot our sake and our food came at different times which for a top restaurant in Ny is a terrible mistake."

"morimoto was fine. we were seated in the front area near the entrance so it was impossible to get the full effect of the restaurant. the food of course was delicious but didn't seem too inventive. i think this might have been much more enjoyable if we had been seated in the central dining area. as it was, it wasn't too special but a sure fire pick if you want to simply eat a delicious meal of japanese favorites."

Review 88 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"food was excellent, although the dessert was forgettable. Beautiful decor, very cool looking. The most comfortable seats I've ever sat in at a restaurant! The tables are a little too close to each other, and seating people on top of each other when the restaurant is half-full wasn't great. But the servers were very nice.

The restaurant is fairly overpriced ($8 for a pot of tea???). but they have a prix fixe $24 lunch menu every day.

Save for a special occasion.

Review 95 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"I went there on Friday night with the Girlfriend for a 9:45 reservation and was seated promptly upon arriving. Although we were seated at a table in between two other dining couples it really never interfered with our dining experience.

We both got the 7 course Omakase tasting menu at $120 and a nice Pinot Noir priced at $80. Without going into too many specifics on each course, I have to say that we were both blown away by how great the food was. From the Tuna Tartare to begin to the delectable dessert at the end, it was a gastronomical delight! To cap it off, Morimoto himself was there! It is expensive, so be prepared to pay a lot, but that is commensurate with fine dining and you will feel it was money well spent! Morimot delivered!

Review 101 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I tried Morimoto for NYC winter restaurant week. The reception was great, I was seated in about 10 minutes (since they have to wait for my group to be complete). There was 4 of us and we all got the pre fixe menu offered for the restaurant week and tried the spicy king crab(which was very good and I agree that it's a must try) for our appetizer. The creamy crab cakes were really creamy but was very good. Each of us ordered a different entree just so we get to try everything that was offered but I shoud say that the angry chicken is a must try and I also liked my own which was the tuna sashimi salad (not very exceptional, just tuna sashimi served over a bed of greens but with a creamy sauce on the side which makes it taste good)."

Review 104 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The food is great. I was in Morimoto Philadelphia and I have to say he definitely improves the sushi now in New York. I was impressed. Everything tastes quite good and watching the chef is quite a pleasure (we sat at the sushi bar). Unfortunately the service is so-so. It's hard to get the waiter's attention and he forgot we may need chopsticks to eat sushi! Definitely need to improve the service there. But overall speaking, it's a nice place with very decent food. Definitely will be back."

Review 106 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"My boyfriend and I dined at Morimoto during restaurant week, and the R.W. menu left more than a little to be desired. Although our appetizer of creamy crab croquettes was excellent, the main course was entirely underwhelming. My "fishwich" resembled a McDonalds McFish sandwich in every way, down to the inclusion of American cheese (except that it only came with four fried onion strips instead of a whole box of fries!). My boyfriend's "angry chicken" was good, but nothing special. The only dessert option was a white chocolate panna cotta, which was creamy, smooth, and delicious. I can honestly say that the best part of the meal was my cocktail (the "orange blossom" which consists of mango tea, rum, champagne, and muddled orange)."

Review 109 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I loved the food.. the food was very good and... I would say the presentation was excellent..

However, the service... um...
The server was keep asking us what we want... it was nice at first however,... it started bothering me when I was having conversation with my friends.. I could not enjoy the DELICIOUS FOOD AND CONVERSATIONS!!!and other server asked me whether I finished my food or not... and asked me If i wanted to take home the left overs...
I said, "I am okay"... he kind of talk back to me by saying " oo okay~" I wanted to say something.. but I did not want to ruin the happy mood.
I DID NOT LIKE THE SERVICE AT ALL!! :(

Review 110 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Morimoto is a dining experience worth having with a friend who loves food and presentation. It is a classic in invention if invention and classic can cohabit. I will definitely go back and have already ordered the cookbook to learn more of the philosophy of his cooking. What a special treat for someone who loves really good interesting food presented beautifully. The decor is spectacularly modern and surprisingly comfortable and unexpectedly intimate although it doesn't appear that it would be given the separation between spaces is glass. I loved it."

Review 114 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Overall a great experience, although the rstrnt deocr is a little over the top, slightly outdated, too. The decor would have been cool 10 years ago, needs an update. The host/hostess were too aloof and the orange curtain that blocks the front door entrance has to go, it was hard to find the front door because of the curtain. Food was wonderful, service was fantastic."

Review 123 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"We were lucky enough to have Morimoto himself visit our table. I was STARSTRUCK. Most people think he works at Nobu, well this in my opinion blows Nobu out of the water. Himachi tarare amazing, wagu beef carpaccio divine, bbq lobster a must have, and do not pass on dessert. This Iron Chef will not disappoint you. While it is pricey and probably reserved for special occasions, the staff is cordial, not over-friendly but on point with service. The presentations of the food reminded me of my honeymoon in Napa Valley where I am thrilled to hear that Morimoto will be venturing in the near future."

Review 128 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"This restaurant EXCEEDED my expectations. I wanted to visit a restaurant of one of the Food Network stars on my trip. I was expecting great food when I saw this menu but nothing really out of the ordinary. This was one of the best meals I ever had! We had the Omakase. One of us upgraded to the Kobe. I recommend the upgrade.

The atmostphere was amazing. The service was extremely friendly, helpful, and attentive. The presentation and quality of food was beyond incredible. As an added bonus, Morimoto was actually there and made a few appearances throught the evening.

The restaurant was on the pricey side, when compared to a meal at home. It's worth it!

This was an experience I'll never forget!

Review 132 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 2.0 out of 5 (Fair)
"Interestingly designed space, ambiance like a night club. Very loud. Decent food. Expensive and quick paced. I did not feel welcome to linger over the dishes. And, really, when you're spending this kind of money on multiple courses, shouldn't you be able to relax at some point? Too frenetic. Most unusual: our server acted as a kind of cheerleader for the food at the introduction of every dish. Not only did she describe the preparation and ingredients of every thing on our plate (expected), she would also then hover and literally exclaim at length about how fantastic everything was as we chewed our first bites. It was as if we were being brainwashed to think positively about the food as we tasted it - and we were fools if we did not agree."

Review 137 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 5.0 out of 5 (Outstanding)
"Both the avid dinner and adventurous eater can find true foodie happiness at Morimoto. It was a unique pleasure and the food was spectacular. The toro tartare and wagyu carpaccio are must-have starters. If there is fresh uni or foogoo on the menu, take advantage of the rare opportunity. And with the exception of a Florentine steak at a 600-year-old restaurant in Florence, Italy, I've never had a better steak than the wagyu filet. A word of caution is in order. If you are on a budget, Morimoto is not the place to go. To really experience what this restaurant has to offer, don't pinch your pennies. This is no place to hold back, so do it right. Lastly, the staff was friendly, knowledgeable and were attentive for the three hours we dined."

Review 140 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Expectations might have been a bit too high, being at Morimoto's the first time. After studying his cooking style and his book, I assumed to be treated to something that would prove that I actually can't cook, and which might even make me want to change my religion. Morimotesianese...? The food was indeed very good, the menu and wine list had surpringsingly decent pricing, the atmosphere was modern/cool/chique though not overly generous, all in all a great fancy package. But the taste of the food - not the presentation - is nothing you have to come all the way to New York for. Perhaps going mainstream means that your dishes loose their edge; going for the masses seems to result in everything tasting a bit more "normal", a bit more ordinary."

Overall Rating 3.0 out of 5 (Good)
"The design and decor of the restaurant are very unique and contemporary. The food was nothing outstanding given our expectations (which were high, but given the caliber of the star chef and reviews, were reasonable). The service was friendly and inviting, but slow at times."

Review 151 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"I went to Morimoto's with my boyfriend as part of his Christmas present. We had a wonderful time and the food was absolutely delicious. I have to say that I was slightly disappointed with our waiter, he seemed to treat us slightly different than other customers he served, maybe it was because we were the youngest people in the whole restaurant but we were definitely footing the same bills as they were. He failed to tell us the specials of the day and did not record one of the sushi rolls I requested as part of my meal. I noticed other waiters who were much more attentive to their customers. Overall Morimoto's was a wonderful restaurant but I would hope that my future visits there will be treated as an equal paying customer."

"Food and decor: fabulous. Lunch service was a little less than stellar--very friendly but minor glitches like not bringing a spoon with soup, grabbing plates without first assuring the diner was finished, slightly uncomfortable long wait between entree and dessert. Certainly we'd go back again!"

Review 154 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Great food! My husband and I really enjoyed eating at Morimoto. We recently went to Nobu NY and found Morimoto to be much better. The service was attentive and the food was delicious. My husband had the omakase while I had the chef's choice sushi platter. Both were amazing! We sat at the sushi bar and loved watching the chefs. Too bad we didn't see Morimoto!"

Review 155 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Restaurant was nearly empty at 7:00 PM when we arrived, but completely filled up by 7:30 PM. Unfortunately, the kitchen became a little backed up as a result, and our main courses came out a little late. However, the food was excellent overall--great appetizers, small dishes, main courses, and side items. The wine selection was good as well."

Review 156 for Morimoto New York

Overall Rating 4.0 out of 5 (Very Good)
"Dinner was good, but hardly exceptional. There was no "above and beyond" service, nothing really special, and the menu was so absurdly large it was nearly impossible to make decisions. I think the menu should be cut in half (to a mere two pages) to be a little easier to navigate. Definitely a great restaurant, but not what one would expect from an "Iron Chef"."

"Morimoto does not disappoint. One would expect only the finest food with regards to taste, presentation, and variety. The Iron Chef does live up to his reputation.
