Featuring sweeping views of the Elizabeth River from the waterfront ballroom, terrace, and herb garden, VINTAGE KITCHEN has quickly become a community favorite. Burled wood floors, black leather benches, and the patina of a copper bar provide a relaxing and elegant setting for award-winning modern cuisine, simply prepared and stylishly presented, using the freshest local and regional produce in season, with a focus on artisan-crafted Virginia wines, cheeses, and micro-brewed beers. The area’s most discriminating clientele dine in an exclusive private library and digital theater with a backstage look into the kitchen, by appointment or invitation only, where daily 7-course bespoke tasting menus are offered graciously by hometown Chef/Owner Phillip Craig Thomason.
"I think this is a fine restaurant for people who have business in Dominion Tower. And, I may go back. I wanted to rate this restaurant higher, and gave it 4's for service and ambiance.
My mother and I went here after I discovered it by using OpenTable. I wanted the french dip which the menu showed online, but it hadn't been available for over a year. I decided to get what they offered as the best burger and ordered it medium. It came out overcooked. My mother ordered a pulled pork sandwich and here first comment was to ask the server if parts of the pork should be served burnt. She checked and the cook said yes, it is suppose to be like that since he cooked it on the flattop.
Will return only if I have specific business in the Tower."

"I've heard from websites, and people alike that the Burger served during the lunch time is amazing, However I take everything with a grain of salt, but still wanted to try this magic burger. So, I had a table RSVP for the lunch service on my birthday, and invited my mother to celebrate as well.
We both ended up ordering the burger med-well and all I can say is now its my favorite burger, I am italian so I really enjoyed the garlic spread, in fact I wanted to kick myself for never trying that before on burgers I made because it is so good, now I can see how some people may think its alittle strong, but I enjoyed it alot. I only wish I had orderd a Root-Beer to go with the burger but didn't know about it until after the order was placed. A+"

"When waterfront in Norfolk, Vintage Kitchen provides you a break from the tourist crowd and excellent food and service. We always make a point to eat there when staying in the area."

"I COULD NOT BE MORE IMPRESSED! I ended up meeting a few friends there last week, a few of whom had never been - we were blown away! Gorgeous views of the river, amazing food, and a really sweet waitress made the night! The space is more modern and sophisticated than most of the better restaurants in the area which tend to be a bit more traditional - reminds me more of places in DC or New York. Having been before, I've noticed that some nights it's a bit more quiet and romantic and other nights it's really busy - I don't know which I prefer. This time there was definitely an energetic crowd (we were told the Chef was hosting a private charity dinner in one of the other dining rooms). Best restaurant in the Norfolk/VA Beach area hands down!"

"I took my wife for a special occasion, and we had an incredible dining experience. The food was spectacular, and the service was superlative. I will say that the menu is not really kid friendly, but our server and chef prepared a special dish for my 7 year old, and she had a wonderful time as well. I highly recommend the Vintage Kitchen! "The menu was kind of interesting and we decided to make it more of a tapas with the small plate side of the menu. Everything we had was good. I def recommend the spicy Caesar salad, and the bacon wrapped dates.
We would def go back!
Our waiter was very good, he did a great job at explaining everything and was very knowledgeable. This is def key to a good restaurant, in my opinion!"

"The food was fantastic. Had the Halibut special and my wife had the flounder and they both were excellent. the salads were excellent as well. Place was kind of empty because we were eating early before a show. Food was very pricey, but we didnt mind paying for it because everything was perfect."

"This restaurant always seems to gather praise. I have dined there several times and have never seen the attraction. Food is consistently fair, service is consistently slow and impersonal. Even the view of the river does not serve to draw me there unless required by some external event."

"We had not been thrilled the last time we visited Vintage Kitchen, but this time everything was excellent. In the past, our servers seemed pompous, but not this time. Our server was very sweet and knew answers to all of our questions. The Black & White Mac n Cheese might be the best Mac we have ever had. The Roasted Red Pepper & Smoked Gouda soup was superb and the Grilled Portabello on Focaccia was delicious. We also enjoyed the Bittersweet Chocolate & Sea Salt Caramel dessert, a must have. This is a great lunch spot - ask for a window seat."

"This was the perfect place for a 30-year reunion with great friends. It's a beautiful small restaurant with a view of the river...lovely inside and lovely outside. It has this very welcoming classic interior that makes you just want to linger...and we did! The service was perfect...attentive and intuitive...but not intrusive or hovering."

"We had a group of 8 and were seated at a waterside table. The service was attentive, informed and friendly. The food was creative and delicious. The Salute to Doumars Tuna Sushi is a must try! I had the salmon, relish. My husband had the duck - the best I've ever tasted. If you have a special occasion you will not be disappointed."

"My husband & I made reservations at Vintage Kitchen for Valentine's Day after browsing the menu online & reading reviews. The restaurant is intimate & the food is fresh & amazing! Every single bite was delicious. We could tell that each course was made with fresh, seasonal ingredients from scratch. It was apparent that the Chef definitely cares about the quality & flavor of his food. The view of the river was obstructed by the glare & reflections within the restaurant, so that was disappointing. But again, the food was fantastic & as self-proclaimed "foodies", we were happy during every single bite. We plan to go back for non-holiday dinner & brunch, because we are interested in trying more of this Chef's delicious creations."

"this is a very good restaurant.....if you can find it! It is in the bottom of an office building and not easy to locate at night
the wait staff was a little overwhelmed in a restaurant of about 40 seats
crabcake is all crab and delicious. we had a variety of foods on the menu since there was 5 of us but the crab was the best and the truffle mac and cheese is also very good
most of the menu is small plates"

"Food was pretty good, view was awesome. Staff was nice. Went on valentines day, expected a price-fix menu but they never posted it anywhere ahead of time. It was good but pricy. 75 dollars for a salad or soup, a 4 oz steak or piece of fish and then a small dessert. Just wasn't anywhere near worth that money. Zoe's would have been cheaper and more for the money. Which is a hard statement to say. Probably won't go back at those prices."
