Amen Street Fish & Raw Bar opened in 2009, reviving the former Amen name of Cumberland Street and restoring this historic corner. The new renovation stays true to the beauty of the original 1800's architecture while creating a comfortable atmosphere for contemporary life.
Located at 205 East Bay Street in the heart of the historic district this Charleston seafood restaurant offers both indoor and outdoor dining all within walking distance of the local Market and the Charleston Harbor.
The menu includes a variety of seafood dishes such as oysters, clams and shrimp in addition to an ever growing raw bar menu. Amen Street supports Charleston's local fishing industry with market fresh fish.
We are open for lunch and dinner. Walk-ins are welcome and reservations are accepted as well.

"This was our third visit and good as always. Oysters fresh and salty. This was our first dinner. The calamari appetizer was larger than during the lunch service so I won't order two again but delicious. I had the scallops and they were cooked perfectly which most places over cook them. Overall great food. We will return."

"Food was fine, wait staff was good. With the restuarant maybe 1/3 full, the hostess seated us (literally) 6 inches from one of the only other couples in the restuarant. The server couldn't even reach my wife because the tables were so close together. The other couple was actually finishing up and left after maybe 10 minutes. Unbelievably, when another couple was seated, again the hostess puts them at the table 6 inches from us. Mind you there were 6 other open tables for 2 visible from our table. After dining in 10 restuarants in 5 days in Charleston, this is by far the worst experience we had. If the restuarant was bursting with diners, I would have understood. Made us feel like they really didn't care about us or the other diners."

"No matter what you have here, it is delicious. Earlier this week we sat at the bar and ate - not because there was no table for us but b/c we arrived early, sat at the bar and was so comfortable and having such a great time that we just stayed there. We had some very very nice 'spicy' martini's served in wine glasses, the the calamari appetizer. No rings but long chunky pieces of perfected breaded and fried calamari. Chased that with a Cesar (which I think was an entire head of romaine!) and the crab cake dinner."

"Although we enjoyed our Sunday brunch at Amen, we were rather disappointed in the food, after having read such good reviews of the place. The shrimp and grits were good - but didn't wow us with the taste. The frozen Bellini was NOT good - no peach taste, just a rather strong alcoholic taste. The hushpuppies and honey were great. My berry salad with fried shrimp was good, but once again, the tastes didn't bring a "wow". Not a place we'd return to in Charleston - there are too many other places that leave us with a wow!"

"I read reviews about Amen and most noted the wait time for the food. All were 100% correct! There was no reason other then trying to sell additional drinks, to wait as long as we did. The long list of oysters only afforded us a choice of 4 on the night we dined. Surely a come on tactic. Sadly, other then the salty She Crab Soup which the waiter agreed but did nothing about, the food wasn't that bad. A follow up from the restaurant is not necessary as I am confident that they have heard this story before."

"We have eaten at this restaurant several times but after this last time doubt we will go back. This time it was extremely noisy. After placing our order it was 50 minutes before our food came out. Our server was short and rude when we asked about out food. She said there was one more thing to come out. The salad with fish on top was just a pile of lettuce with a piece of fish. We finally asked for manager and he came over and apologized and offered to give us a dessert. We said we did not want a free dessert but wanted him to know about the poor service and long wait for food."

Completely dissatisfied with the customer service received from the manager in particular, and despite the delicious menu, would not return because of this. Food was entered incorrectly and waited an hour after we got our food for the last entree to arrive. "Fantastic! Is a must every time we are in Charleston. Was suprised to see the menu had changed a bit. Not at all in a bad way. Had the shrimp corn dogs. And the hot shrimp and crab. Was not a bit disappointed. Ordered an old charleston to drink and well worth all of it.

"I have eaten at Amen Street Grill several times and loved it but this visit was disappointing. Our waitress was very nice but very slow to serve us. We waited a long time for her to come and take our order. I got the shrimp and lobster risotto and did not like it at all. The shrimp were tough and there was hardly a piece of lobster in it. It was very dry and tasted very fishy. My son also got the dish and had a lot more lobster in his. I was bummed that the quality has slipped since my last visit in October. I have recommended Amen Street to others but will not send people here after this visit. Hope they fix the server issues and food quality if they are going to charge the money."

"First time to Charleston and Amen was recommended to us. The oysters were wonderful as was the She crab soup. Out of the wait staff-recommended scallops. The capellini was very good, but we found the grouper was mushy. The waitress started out very prompt, yet service was quite slow at the end. Overall a terrific choice!"

"Raw oysters were good, but expensive. All other seafood (scapula, shrimp, clams, mussels) were low quality and tasteless. Scallops were enormous, but must have been pumped with a saline solution or something because they had no scalop flavor at all. Several items arrived slightly to very undercooked. For the price and the ratings, I expected much better."

"The dinner was average. They ran out of Chardonnay! How can you do that? They offered two other whites that were very sweet, and not a real alternative. If they had told us before we ordered dinner, we would have left. Food was average,not many fresh fish options for a raw bar and seafood restaurant . They also crowded tables too close together. We refused the first table that we were shown. Too close to other tables, and the table was also very small. We will not put this on our "go back to" place."

"When a friend had enthusiastically recommended Amen Street Fish + Raw Bar, my family and I were VERY excited to have dinner there, especially since Google Maps reported a VERY high rating for the restaurant. Of the 4 of us, I had - by far - the best dish, and the other 3 were just "so so" and thus did not live up to expectations. Furthermore, it took about an hour between when we sat down until we received our food - I do not know whether this was due to the kitchen or the waitress."

"Once was enought for our group though the bar was great avoid the dinner and dining room if you have to sit in one if the wobbly chairs. Uneven floor maaybe? Food was good but priced high for the amount of food. I ordered sprimp and grits which came with only six tiny shrimp. My dinner partner had the broiled haddock which was dry and surprisingly the rice was under done. The shrimp corn dogs were a great starter Dessert was the bourbon pecan pie that was cold from the fridge. Not worth the price or the calories. Not a place I will go back to ever again. Go up the street to magnolias it's much better."
