Nestled within the cradle of North Augusta's ambitious and visionary Hammond's Ferry riverfront development, Manuel's Bread Cafe combines the storied tradition of a French bakery, pastry and food shop with an unforgettable casual dining experience. "Memorial weekend Sunday is probably not the best time to go to Manuel's. We have always had great meals here, but sadly not this time. Manuel's Bread Cafe is typically a "sure bet" for us. Great environment, nicest wait staff, great menu, fresh food--always a hit for us. This time not so much-the salmon burgers were "off" and was the turkey burger. Something wasn't quite right. The crowds may have overwhelmed. We are going to take a break from going until we are ready to try Manuel's again."

"Our brunch was one of the best we have experienced anywhere. There was a great variety of food and desserts and every item was fabulous! The best part was that it was not only delicious, but actually healthy. The service was friendly and able to handle a very busy day without making us feel rushed. "My wife and I have eaten at Manual's several times; this was our first time to go on a holiday brunch. Food was excellent as usual. What suffered a little was the service, combined with a noisy atmosphere because it seemed overcrowded. Service was as friendly as ever, but way too busy to keep up. When we arrived (on time for our reservation), they had to shuffle us around to make room. I'm still sold on this being one of the gems in metro Augusta, so one can overlook a special occasion for mothers that everyone was trying to take advantage of. Overall, still a great brunch."

"I love a great salad, and Manuel's salads do not disappoint! Evan the side salads that come with an entree or sandwich are delicious! No just straight iceberg with the boring accents - think beets, goat cheese, house made vinegarette, house mad everything for that matter! It's also a great place for you sandwiches for lunch! They always have delectable specials that usually win me over as well! Dinners are wonderful as well! Every dinner entree I've had has been incredibly tasty!"

"The wine tasting was fun. The food served at the event was spectacular. We were very cold, however, and wished that there was more commentary on the wine. "We enjoyed a first visit to Manuel's Bread Cafe on a cool evening in early March. Although they have heaters available for outdoor seating, we choose to stay inside. The atmosphere is very quaint and comfortable. A nice blend of music was playing in the background and classic Julia Child cooking shows without sound were projected on one of the walls, adding a very unique touch. The restaurant was busy, but not packed for a Friday evening. Our service was attentive for the most part, but relaxed. The food was excellent. Their duck wings are delicious and I tried Osso Buco for the first time and really enjoyed it. My wife enjoyed her salmon salad and they had a nice selection of deserts with good coffee to finish the evening."

"We usually have a great experience. This is one of our favorite restaurants to dine. Unfortunately, the food was not their usually outstsnding quality. I had a scallop, shrimp and flounder entree...the broth that it was cooked in was too salty, the scallops were tiny and a bit rubbery. My husband tried the frog legs...he was okay with his dish. The wine was excellent as always. The dessert was awesome as always as well. But, what made the meal obsolete was the outstanding service that our server Dee had given us :-) despite the disappointment of my dish, we still love dining at Manuel's."

"The food was pretty good - we got the ribeye for two - not the best I've ever had but certainly editable. The biggest issue was with the service. Our server was pleasant but rarely came by our table and was very slow getting things to us... even things like the check. At the end of our dinner we had clearly been done eating for about 10 minutes when she came by to ask if we wanted the check. Then there was another 5 minutes for her to bring us our check so I immediately gave her our credit card. Then it took 5 to 10 more minutes to get us our card back. That's 20 to 25 added on to the end of our meal that had already taken way longer than necessary!
Unfortunately, I wouldn't recommend it to others."

"I have always had a great experience at Manuel's until my last visit. When we arrived it was crowded and had to wait 30 minutes after our reservation time to be seated. The staff was overwhelmed and did not make us feel welcome. One waitress made the comment that it was our fault we had to wait because we made the reservation a few hours earlier and they were already crowded. They need to do a better job of managing available times on Open Table. I will not be going back anytime soon."

"We geheraly go to Manuals at least once a week, we made reversations for 2/14/13 it was terrible they had tables and chairs stacked on top of one another could not even squeeze to get in chair, so we ask to be moved to another table which they moved us then the manager came out said we had to sit in the crowded table, so we got up and left....will never step foot inside there again."
