"We thought that the food was good with the Tapas portions a bit larger than other Tapas restaurants. However, it was a bit of a struggle to order additional items as the waiter was slow to come back to the table. The food came fast once we were able to order. The hostess chose to seat us at an undesirable table even though the restaurant had plenty of other seating."

"I wish I could write a great review for Sactuaria, I really do. I had such high hopes. Here goes. 1) Nobody knew how to make the "Rum & Fire" drink they have in a video on their web site. I specifically went there to try the drink on their video and they looked at me like I was insane. All drinks are VERY SMALL. 2) The build up about the decor was WAY over done. Their web site blows you away.The skeleton in the corner looked like a blow up doll from the dollar store. Their "Tapas" were WAY over priced and the servings were puney. The bacon wrapped dates were smaller than prunes. $180 / 4 people - had to get a hamburger on the way home. If you LOVE wasting your time and money, you'll love this place. But not me."

"The menu was unique. No standard fare here. We had 6 different dishes. They were all delicious and reasonably priced. The staff was knowledgeable and friendly. Our waiter was great. He paid the appropirate amount of attention to us. Not overly attentive but readily available. The atmosphere was fun and romantic. The decor was kind of Hatian/Voodooesque and we enjoyed it. Very cool. We will go again."

"Very impressed. The food was incredible, fresh and unique. The pairing of ingredients made it a stand-out experience for us. My only complaint is that it was extremely loud. I think that if my husband and I had been seated at a more intimant table, we would have been able to have a conversation. It made for an awkward special occasion dinner. That is the ONLY negative aspect and one that is an easy fix. Other than that, it was a great experience. We can't wait to invite friends and family for dinners there."

"Dined with friends who had never been. My main draw for returning to this restaurant from time to time is the Wicked Good Shrimp!! They are AMAZING and worth the trip alone. Second only to the shimp is the server BLAKE, who made the evening with his excellent service! Unfortunately the other items I've tried the last few times are just "OK". The lamb meatballs sound interesting, but kind of fall flat..luke warm and underseasoned. The chicken empanadas were seasoned better, but underwhelming. I guess when you have a dish as good as the shrimp, it's hard to make the other items shine bright?! We will return for that dish and request Blake as our server, can't go wrong!"

"We brought my mother here for some appetizers on her birthday. AS they brought out the food one by one, the last being chicken sliders that me and two of my sisters ordered, so there were three orders of it, they only brought two. We asked about it they said they would check, the waitress said they weren't ready, which seemed odd because there were already two orders of it made. Anyway everyone ate and was ready to get the check and here i am still waiting for my two little sliders for over 30 minutes. Although everyone else was satisfied with the service I was not. I was not only disappointed at the service but prices for such little amount of food we were given over 200 dollars spent but still felt the need to go get food afterwards."

"After having an amazing meal the night before at Basso, I'm not sure any restaurant would get a great review from me the next night. However, I still think Sanctuaria was just alright. The decor seemed really hodge-podged together, which if done well (with thought, but made to look like no thought), it works, but it doesn't for me here. The sangria was way overpriced. Don't believe you're going to get 7/7.5 glasses from the pitcher as the menu states - it was 4-5 at best. And, when an extra glass was ordered, there was so much crushed ice that perhaps without the ice it would have been 1/4 full? The food was pretty good and I would recommend the queso with plantains and the bacon wrapped dates, but all overpriced."

"Having been there as a near-first date, we loved Sanctuaria and wanted to go again, primarily for the "mixology" that we had loved regarding the drink menu. BUT - we were very worried that we would have the disappointing experience of a holiday pre-set menu and a late, crowded meal. However, because of an Open Table email, we just took an 8:15p reservation and hoped for the best! NO DISAPPOINTMENT AT ALL - we were seated at 8:15, had super service, great suggestions along with the prix fixe menu - and everything was not only delicious, but a perfect meal from start to finish!! We will be back again and again!"

"Our meal was fantastic. I like the tapas format - the portions are perfect for 2 to share. The service was attentive and helpful. Our server advised us on selections and was right on with her recommendations.
The carne and maiz and bacon wrapped dates are delish. Plantains were good too.

"My wife and I went on the Saturday before Valentine's Day to celebrate. The Beggars Purse and the shrimp dish we out of this world good. We ordered a second plate of each. The chicken on a skewer was good. Also, we ordered the onion and pepper rings. They were good but we felt they were a little pricey for the amount received. Our drinks were never empty and the wait and service staff were pleasant while being non-intrusive to our evening. We ended the dinner with chocolate cookies that finished off a nearly perfect evening."

"The service was excellent, drink list outstanding and ambiance is unique and fun. The St. Louis Ribs and the Hummingbird drink were my favorites. My only complaints were that the amazing croutons were so crunchy they hurt our teeth, and the Steak Frita was very salty."

"Every time I go to Sanctuaria I love it more and more. We had the absolute best server. I believe that his name is Blake. He was knowledgable of food and beverages as well as having friendly and courteous disposition. We will be back again. Can't wait to sit outside. It looked great."

"Excellent eclectic theme with a goth edge. The restaurant theme, La Dia de Los Muertos (Day of the Dead) is unique and gives it sort of a dark edge, which is kind of cool. Presentation is good. Cocktails are their expertise...better than anyplace I've ever been. I walked out with their book "The Dive Bar." It is really well put together, intriguing and exciting. It is not as "wierd" and funky as the Venice Cafe, but going to the Venice Cafe is almost best done on the back of a Harley. Sanctuaria has just the right touch of elegance but isn't pretentious."

"Had a party of 6 people that night. Hostess was very friendly and sat us promptly. Service was great overall. We tried about 9 Tapas between the 6 of us. 2 out of the 9 were good. We love the sliders and the cheese filled cigars. Everything was really really bland. This is one of my favorite restaurants in Saint Louis and I will be back to drink. Not sure if I will be back to eat. The restaurant needs a bigger menu...some more salad options would be nice and possibly sandwiches or Entrees would add to the menu."

"Loved our first visit to Sancturia, as did everyone in our party of four. Innovative and attractively prepared food; small but good wine and beer selections; creative cocktail list. Our server was well informed and more than helpful. And we liked the low-light atmosphere, with a kind of "Day of the Dead" theme. Very fun. We'll definitely go back."
