Petit Robert Bistro
Petit Robert Bistro is a French Bistro open every day all year long 11:00am - 11:00pm. They feature an open kitchen on the first floor (40 seats), fireplace and wine racks on the wall. The sub basement has another 40 seats and the pastry bar (12 seats) where they prepare all their homemade desserts. The also offer a patio, which seats 15 guests. They offer a large selection of entrees.

"We have eaten at Petit Robert Bistro on many occasions, and we have generally enjoyed the experience. This time, however, was a disappointment. The restaurant was not very crowded, yet the service was incredibly slow. Our waiter would disappear for long periods of time. We had empty drink glasses on our table for a significant amount of time, and when the waiter finally arrived with our appetizers, he never inquired if we would like to order additional drinks. After one hour we had only been served our appetizers. The salad was barely dressed. The biggest disappointment was the roasted lamb. It was covered in panko breadcrumbs and tasted as if it had been cooked in the same pan as fish. The strong fish taste overpowered the lamb."

"When our birthday girl requested dinner at Petit Robert Bistro, we were more than happy to oblige! We'd been once before for lunch (during Restaurant Week), and the food was phenomenal. Dinner this time did not disappoint. We had a wide range of dishes (from several apps, to chalkboard specials, to various items of the new spring menu) and everything was terrific. The boeuf bourguignon was hands down the favorite dish (it was attacked by three different diners). Desserts were glorious (don’t miss the chocolate cake with the Eiffel tower!). Wine recommendations were spot-on. C’est magnifique!"

"My date and I met for lunch. This was my first time at Petit Robert. We ate from the brunch menu. The eggs benedict were delightful. Service was friendly and efficient without being intrusive. We sat by the window and enjoyed the street scene outside. I look forward to dining there again."

"Sunday brunch. Food quite good, but service quite slow. My wife always says you get the worest service when a restaurant is not busy and this seemed the case. There were only three tables occupied. Server was knowledgeable. Coffee tepid both when served and on refill. It had been a difficult week in boston, but brand will be affected if this experienced by others"

"I love their food. We have been going there for 7 years now. Although wondering why they would accept a 1030pm reservation if the kitchen was closing and we need to rush to get our food order in. They should limit there time to 10pm French food should not be rushed."

"French cuisine has been associated with tiny portions of odd foods. Not here. This is solid, country style cooking. All the familiar staples can be found, and they are prepared solidly. With butter. If you are looking for culinary extravagance go somewhere else. If you want French food that tastes like you're in France, go here. Boef Bourguignon, Pâté, Coq au vin, onion soup, Coquilles St. Jacques, they all can be found here, and many more.
There are two rooms, the lower without windows. Tables are fairly close together. Most of the staff appear to be French, which adds to the feeling of eating out in France. Try it. You may find yourself wanting to come back."

"This remains one of our favorite places in Boston. The service is attentive, and the atmosphere is cozy and charming. The menu includes wonderfully "un-PC" French favorites like calf liver and venison. The bread is fresh and hot and crusty. The pate's are delicious. The fresh vegetables served with the entrees are perfectly done and artistically presented -- arranged around a dollop of exquisite mashed potatoes. The desserts always look tempting, but I rarely have enough room. Too bad."

"The food at this Petit Robert Bistro is superb. The service was very good, if a bit slow at the end of the meal. The waiter was helpful and informative. The surroundings are pleasant and inducive to guests enjoying a fine meal. Most of the persons in tables near us were speaking Russian and Portuegese, leading us to think this restaurant must be very popular with visitors to Boston. For the excellence of the food, the prices are appropriate."

"I took my girlfriend here for our one-year anniversary and it didn't disappoint. It's everything you'd expect from a little French bistro - the quaint atmosphere, tasty traditional French food, and even a friendly waitstaff. The prices are actually pretty reasonable for the quality. I had the boeuf bourguignon and my girlfriend got the steak frites, both of which were tasty. We also got mussels, which were very delicious for a light appetizer."

"I needed to find a nice restaurant close to my son's apartment on Beacon Street so I found Petit Robert on a map search of area restaurants. Based on the website, it seemed like just the place. The food was absolutely superb. There were interesting and innovative cocktails. The service was attentive but not overbearing, and they kindly glossed over our breaking a salt shaker after sitting down! Despite being relatively small, its tables were placed at a comfortable distance from each other so we were able to have a pleasant conversation without feeling like we were sitting directly next to other diners. The restaurant would appeal to first daters, retirees, families, and groups of friends."

"A pleasant surprise. The home made pate plate was to die for. Three flavors each with it's own texture served with a spicy mustard and warm bread, enough for a meal in itself. The duck was crispy on the outside, moist and tender in side with a slightly sweet and tangy orange sauce. Frog legs were meaty with just a hint of garlic. Desert ???? After the appetizer and meal we didn't have room to try any of the deserts.

"We went to Petit Robert (Kenmore) for the umpteenth time and loved, as usual. It is like a quick trip to France for those who enjoy fine dining. The Moules/Frites were as fresh tasting and delicious as any I have had. The classic Coq au Vin was nicely braised in a hearty red wine. The pates are always excellent."

"AMAZING night!! The hostess, Trish, was great. Upon request gave us a great table by the window, even though it was Valentines Day and I'm sure they were booked solid. The server was wonderful, never rushing us, not ignoring. Gave us space and time, yet was always around. The food, as usual, was incredible. We had escargot, fois gras, pate plate, and for entrees we had scallops and a Veal special.. everything was INCREDIBLE!!! The food, ambiance and service made our evening unforgettable!! Can't wait to go back again!!"

"Spectacular! Went here for Valentine's Day and it was perfect. We are big on service and the service here was top notch. Food was amazing too (cod appetizer and chocolate creme brulee was FANTASTIC). Nothing but good reviews for this place. Our favorite part of the dinner was when the Boss/whoever it was, went to find our car on the street and parked it in the back for us..and then took us to the back after dinner to our car..that was just so touching. We've told all of our friends and family about that! The girlfriend's new favorite spot.
One critique: the tables are a bit too close to each other. It was a bit awkward to hear what the couples next to us were talking about."
